Trouble-Free Plumbing

We have used Trouble-Free for many years. We knew when we bought our new (old) house that we would have them install a furnace/central air unit. We had a boiler system. The complete team is absolutely fantastic! Nacona, Chris, John and Skylar. All great workers! Dependable, friendly, knowledgeable the list goes one. Would recommend Trouble-Free for any service.

The plumber was supposed to fix a wiggly tub faucet & install a shower handle at my mom's. Needless to say, after paying over 1k, the faucet is still loose and the shower handle was installed UPSIDE DOWN! After this happened, my mom called Trouble Free to ask if someone could come out and look over things and the front office told my mom that they HAVE to send the same guy back out.

My mom wasn't comfortable with having the same guy back out & was basically told tough luck. My mom has low immunity due to two prior stem cell transplants and my husband & I are just now comfortable visiting with her inside her house due to covid. We are very disappointed to see what Trouble free has done/didn't do & are very dissatisfied.

AC was running poorly - would not cool lower than 77 degrees. Chris arrived on time, as scheduled, diagnosed the problem and made the repair promptly and professionally. Had a tricky leak in an upstairs bathroom. I needed an expert to help get it solved and was able to book an appointment online. My scheduler got me set up with the A team and Kurt was able to quickly diagnose the issue and had it fixed fast. My diagnosis was wrong and I would have spent many evenings attempting to fix the issue myself. Very good experience with Trouble Free.

Skylar was punctual, polite, and professional. The furnace issue I had was minor, so he took extra time replacing filters and checking the over-all health of my system. My water heater went out during a winter storm so all our roads were closed for 2 days. When everything was open back up of course they were a little back up because they couldn't make any service calls for 2 days. Despite this, they were still able to come out and arrived 30 minutes prior to the 2-hour window. Joshua Burch who was the technician told me prior to the job what he was going to try to do and how much everything would cost prior to doing the work.

He cleaned out the burner and ended up replacing the thermal coupler and the total bill was about $275 bucks. I was really happy that they were able to fix my water heater so I didn't have to replace it today and can say they gave an outstanding service!

We called Trouble Free to come out and replace a water cut off valve that was bad. We determined this when we tried to replace the guts of the toilet and couldn't turn water off. The plumber came out right away but never called me to discuss work to be done. He replaced cut off, braided lines, and replaced the guts of the toilet. He was only supposed to replace the cut off and that was AFTER contacting me.

He never called, just did what he wanted, then emailed me a bill for $550! I argued the bill and the owner "Dave" said he would only refund half of the $177 they charged me to replace the guts of the toilet. (we already had our own parts but he used his anyway. As though he couldn't figure out that we planned to do that OURSELVES?) So, the owner says only refund $88.50 of the $550 billed.

So because he wouldn't do what was right and wanted to keep his $88.50 he just lost the business of 2 furnaces/ac units, as well as 2 water softeners, and replacing plumbing work and removing a garage shower. We were planning to drop thousands of dollars to this company. But no, they need their $88.50 too much to get any more of our business. I will be sure and spread the word to other landlords as well that may need their services. Just call someone else!

Skyler was very courteous and professional. He listened intently to my Description of what was going on with my furnace and promptly begin working to diagnose and fix the issue. Chris did a great job. Our furnace broke down late one evening. We called and he was at our home within an hour. Thankfully he had the necessary parts with him and our furnace was up and running. It was midnight by the time he got it fixed. He was very pleasant and professional. We are so thankful as the temps dipped into the teens that night.

My mother purchased a new HVAC system and also their "gold plan" for maintenance at $19.95 per month. The payment was taken directly from her checking account. When she sold the house and moved, I called to cancel the plan. They took another payment. I called again and I was told I have to discontinue in writing, not a phone call. I wrote a letter that day.

They took another payment. I drove to the office with my documentation and was told there should be no more payments coming out and they CANNOT refund my mothers money they took out. Bottom line-do not trust their services. Should you need a plan to maintain a brand new HVAC system? And DO NOT let them automatically take money from your account. They keep taking it when they shouldn't and refuse to refund it. I do not recommend this company.

Called for emergency service on Sunday. Clogged sewer line. Paid $378.00 for 1hou, 15 mins. Serviceman was pleasant enough. Gave me the impression that he wanted to get to other calls ASAP. He ran a "snake" once through the sewer line. Not much debris came out. I asked him if he was going to doi it more times and he said " lets test it. Ran water from several sinks/ toilets. Sinks were still slow to drain.

I told him it wasnt fixed yet. He said let's try again. Water then seems to drain as usual. He left. Monday evening, same sinks backed up with sewer line clog. Called office Early Tuesday morning. Office said per notes, I signed off ( I never did get the receipt emailed to me as promised) and sewer clogs weren't guarenteed anyway. They wanted another charge of $149.00! Minimum! Stay away. Shoddy, overpriced service. Don't stand behind their work!

Trouble-fee is running a scam disguised as a business. My kitchen drain needed snaked. This is apparently too difficult for this place! Tried once and failed Talked me into unnecessary "cut out" -still never snaked it. Apparently didn't have one long enough! Came back told me I needed all new pipes! Called a new guy he snaked it it 25 minutes everything is now perfect! I want my money back!

Had a valve replaced in my shower was charged $365. Learned the part was actually only a $7.00 part. He went out in his truck and sat for 20 to 30 min. came back in put the valve in which took him 10 min. Later actually looked on you tube and saw a gentleman replace exact same valve in 1 minute. There was no need to charge that much.

These people overcharged this senior citizen veteran on a very simple repair. CHARGED $830.00 TO REPLACE 2 WATER HEATER ANODES. These parts are available at Menards for $20.00 each, the tech was hear less than 40 minutes. After being robbed by these guys checked with other honest plumbing companies and the charge should have been $200-300 dollars. EVEN COMPLAINED TO THE BBB AND TROUBLE FREE COULD HAVE CARED LESS. People beware and check with other companies before you allow Trouble Free in your front door.

Their HVAC System quote was about 3X more than the same Furnace & A/C system elsewhere. - Seriously - $16,000 for a non modulating 100k btu variable speed Furnace and a 3t 16 SEER A/C. & this was AFTER the $4000 "discount" - 3lbs refridgerant + stop leak + 20 minutes = $520 - PM with contract was outrageous = -- $200yr contract + $100yr filters + $100+yr UV bulb that are notoriously problematic. that's $400 yr in PM on top of $16,000 = $20k over 10 yrs - yea - no thanks - I got the same system and better upgrades for about - 1/3 of the price with a far superior company with a better reputation for customer service.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY You DO NOT get what you pay for with these guys. Either someone is raking in mad cash, or they have to overcharge to pay for their overhead! Be Smart get multiple bids, and you will see!

Stay away from this rip off company They charged my 82 yr old mother just like Joel B. @50 for capacitor furnace still did not work came out a week later said it was a circuit board 900$ still didn't work. Called another small time furnace guy who said they didn't hook up the ground or post codes. He installed pressure switch 109$ total bill. These people take advantage of elderly widows. STAY AWAY!

Called trouble free yesterday for my grandmas house in Peoria. The girl who answered the phone was the most kind call taker I think I ever talked to. The tech who came out treated my grandma like it was his own grandma she said. She was so happy they considered all her needs. Next time I ever need anything in the Peoria area I will definitely call them.
