I did an online service request due to our ac not always blowing cold air. We got a call back and an appointment set up. Chase came out at the time that was stated and determined our unit was low on freon. Promptly filled it back up and tested the system. Cold air was blowing out like it should. He was very professional, neat and left everything clean before he left. He also explained what was wrong and how he fixed it. Very happy with the service from both Lanz and Chase.

We had a water pipe burst in our basement at night. They offered emergency services to shut off the leak and came early the next day to repair. They even were able to refer me to a water extraction company who has been really good so far as well. I was even able to go to work the next day. A plumber by the name of Boston, was amazing and explained everything so thoroughly every step of the way. I appreciate the response speed and customer service of this company so much! Thanks!

We have been Lanz customers since 2019 with installation of new furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater. We opt for Lanz annual maintenance and have been pleased with all Lanz services. On 5/6/2022, Greg performed annual check of A/C. Greg was prompt, professional, and thorough. He is a gentleman, and we were happy to have Greg in our home.
We are grateful that Greg is helping us maintain our home, and we plan to ask for Greg's expert services again. Thank you. ADDITIONAL REVIEW: On 5/6/2022 Boston did annual maintenance on our hot water heater. Boston called ahead and arrived earlier than planned appointment which we appreciated. Wow! Excellent service! Boston is expert, personable, and thorough.
He took the time to explain the various checks and processes. Boston is confident about his knowledge and skills, and we appreciate that Boston is helping us maintain our home. Boston represents Lanz well. We plan to ask for Boston for next year's hot water annual maintenance. Thank you!

I contacted Lanz regarding a new HVAC system for our rental property. Kurt, their salesman, was very responsive and explained the various options available. He was also helpful in resolving a situation we had with our city regarding a rebate. I definitely recommend them and will use them again in the future.

Chase did a great job! I had no heat. I called on Saturday morning. He showed up early Saturday afternoon had my issue fixed in 20 minutes. He was very nice and very professional. I called other places and they wanted a $225 emergency fee because it was the weekend. That was almost the cost of my bill. Lanz will definitely be my go-to for HVAC! Thank you very much for a job well done.

Troy, it is unfortunate that you didn't have your guys do the job right to begin with or none of this would've happened! I tried and will show you the emails that I sent to your employee Kurtis. So here's the emails (PEOPLE PLEASE LOOK AT MY PICTURES AND EMAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW UNDER TROY'S RESPONSE AND YOU WILL SEE THEY DID THIS WRONG AND THAT IT DID NOT GO ON FOR MANY MONTHS.
I TRIED WITH PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS WHICH I POSTED SOME EMAILS BELOW PROVING I WANTED THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. TROY IS NOT HONEST AS YOU WILL SEE. I was very upset. There was a two week period to where I never got any response back as you will see Kurtis explaining that to me in an email. And I had to have a doctors visit myself and my Mother was deathly sick in the hospital also and I explained that, too.
So don't you go suggesting publicly here that it's my fault because I stalled you people out and again I remind you that it was your employees, Troy, that did the poor workmanship on the insulation and ductwork and my ceiling in my newer house! You did nothing to resolve this. Don't you check up on your employees daily? I owned a fine dining establishment and tavern in Champaign Urbana Illinois years ago and I checked all my employees every day as did my family and we always were there for them and for our customers.
I don't blame Kurtis. I blame you entirely, Troy. My integrity is on the line here and I suggest you keep your mouth shut and not go around telling people that I don't pay my bills. Because I do pay my bills (you got $700 out of me so that was more than half. and I never pay the entire bill unless the workmanship is all good and I am satisfied and I don't think anybody else would either!) WHEN THE WORKMANSHIP IS GOOD BUT YOURS WAS NOT.you showed absolutely no interest at all.
You left it all up to your employee and that is never ever good when you have a situation like this. You'll also notice in the last picture we fixed the ceiling with a nice piece of drywall carefully cut out and it was glued and screwed to the ceiling and now all we have to do is paint it. I thank my farmer for this as he was more than willing to help because he saw the lousy work done also and found it very disappointing that you never did get involved to settle this situation.
He couldn't understand why you the owner would not get involved and want to get the rest of your money. I said I don't understand it either because I made myself very well available and I can't help it my Mother was in the hospital a dozen times and Mr. Fletcher was absent a couple times for over two weeks. So I was still very well willing to work with you but I just got sick and tired of not getting any answer back in August so we went to work and fixed it ourselves.
And now we bought the new insulation piece which was not cheap by the way and we're going to fix it. I am tired of companies trying to put the blame on homeowners whenever homeowners get burned most of the time because the companies don't train their employees right and if they did there would not be callbacks!

It isn't just the name on the truck that makes a great company, its the people that work there. Shannon's visit today reinforced all of the reasons its worth it to hire a professional. He brought skills, tools, experience, and most importantly, thinking and problem solving skills. Shannon not only took the time to fix the drain problem but also to thoroughly diagnose the root cause. Shannon wasn't cutting corners and wasn't focused on leaving as quickly as possible but instead was self-motivated to deliver complete quality. Shannon also recognized the value of extraordinary customer service.
Though we opted to wait until the next morning, he did also offer to come out at 11 PM. The next morning, Shannon called ahead before arriving. When he arrived, Shannon was friendly, extremely open to sharing his knowledge, and happy to give advice. If anyone has plumbing trouble, Shannon is highly recommended! You won't be sorry. Thank you so much again for helping us Lanz and Shannon. Fantastic job!

This was the first time we had used Lanz (we've been lucky) but it definitely won't be the last. Within an out of filling out the online form we got a call saying they could be here in 10 minutes, they were right on time and had our drain unclogged within another 10-15 minutes. Both of the guys were friendly and professional, they didn't leave a huge mess - no mess at all actually! Highly recommend!

The service was very quick, friendly and and efficient. It was just over an hour from the time I filled out the online appointment form until Austin left my house(granted I do live very close). He explained how to help prevent the issue in the future before leaving as well. Payment options were easy. And he had no problem with following my request of him wearing a mask while in our high risk household. Definitely would recommend again!

Nick was the name of the young man that came and fixed my duct. This young man called to verify that he was on his way and with a great attitude he arrived and got started. My duct was not attached so he took his time to hook it back up after he had cleaned it. He patiently waited to see if we had any questions and left with the same smile and attitude he came with. Thanks again Nick for your professionalism and great work. I would recommend this company to everyone!

From the first point of contact, our experience has been nothing but amazing! Andrew, Jesse, Austin, Shannon and Kyle are extremely professional and are experts in their field. They listen, they are efficient, and they communicate clearly. Most importantly, I really appreciate the communication within the company. They are well informed between the departments, which puts you at ease. They come to your house prepared and with a clear understanding of what they need to do. You will regret not using them first.trust me!

My recent experience with Lanz to replace a gas valve and related parts on my furnace was my fourth with them. This particular issue required a very short notice return visit to adjust a switch to get the furnace going again after a couple overnight fits and starts. They did so the same morning I called and at no additional charge for the return. Even for very different types of service calls, they are so consistent in their responsiveness, timeliness, honesty, quality of service, and quality of their employees that I decided to purchase a service plan. They definitely know how to make customers feel confident and earn their loyalty!

I called Lanz Inc. to have a new faucet installed because the original faucet was not turning on and off easily. Then, 12 days later I noticed a HUGE amount of water in the basement saturating the floor right below the kitchen sink and the surrounding area, where coincidentally we just had our new faucet installed by Lanz Inc. I called Lanz Inc who came out and could not find the source of the water.
The plumber denied any possibility that the water could have been due to the faucet installation 12 days earlier. There was so much water, the plumber recommended that we call a water remediation company. I called Servepro, and a Servepro technician immediately found an active leak from the water main going to the faucet. We called Lanz Inc again to get the plumber to come out again and fix the active leak.
This time we showed the plumber where the Servepro technician found the leak and the Lanz Inc plumber actually fixed the active leak by tightening the water main. Even though Lanz Inc actually found and fixed the leak that they caused during their faulty installation, Lanz Inc still denies causing the severe water damage in the vicinity of the active leak.
After months of trying to get them take responsibility for the damages that they caused, I have now given up. I now have no choice but to file a homeowner's insurance claim in order to pay for all the $17,000 worth of damages that incurred because of a leak that Lanz Inc created. Lanz Inc. will still deny everything and try to pass the blame on other circumstances- basically calling me a liar.
They say that my faucet was probably already leaking, and they claim that another prior leak from the refrigerator, which is 10 feet away from the sink, somehow caused the water damage under the sink. This is of course ridiculous and defies both the laws of physics and good common sense. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor or handyman in my life! The whole experience was just awful and draining, and its still not over. :. My advice, don't let Lanz Inc near your home!

A few weeks ago was the second time I ever used Lanz. I woke up to no hot water, the pilot light was out. I called Lanz and they were out within an hour. The tech vacuumed around the pilot light and removed the thermocouple. He said there was a tiny ceramic disc that needed to be replaced. He did that and was out of the house in less than an hour, but not before handing me a bill for $358 (I saw that this same amount was charged to another reviewer for a different project.) That afternoon I found that the heater was off again, and called Lanz.
A different person came out and got it working, and it has been ever since. In thevother incident last year, the central air stopped. My usual HVAC guy was out of town, so I called Lanz. They replaced a capacitor in the compressor, then told me I had better replace the whole furnace. I was surprised at that since the furnace is less than 7 years old.
When my usual HVAC looked at it, he said there was no way I needed a new furnace. Lance is very quick to fix a problem, but I question their prices and their techs playing salespeople.

First let me start by giving a compliment. The work was done well and the technicians were very nice. Lanz has a great reputation, that's why I called them but I should have done a little more research. My wife and I are selling our home and per the inspection demands, the A/C condensate drain needed to be "fixed by a professional" because it was draining into my crawl space.
In reality I think it was just fine dripping onto the dirt/ gravel floor but the vapor barrier was catching the drip so water was pooling. The fix was to route the drain tube through the exterior wall and out side with the proper slope 12 feet away. There was a tight spot and a joist in the way so the technician didn't quite know the proper route to take so he left to go get another technician who was supposed to be with him. (I'm guessing training).
Once the two technicians returned they spent some time figuring out what they were gonna do and advised me of their plans then left again to go get supplies which consisted of a 12' length of 3/4" pvc and a few couplers. All in all they drilled an exit hole in the wall, a line was ran and a few unions were put in the line. The job took 3.5 hours which was way took long and I was charged $279 plus the $79 service charge for a total of $358. I'm not happy with that price point but needed he work done by a pro to prove to my buyers home inspector that it was done right. Lanz got 2 stars from me because they took way too long to do a simple job and charged me for it because they weren't prepared. I won't use them again. Next time I'll call cassel who puts the service fee towards the repair.

I've used Halfar Plumbing for years. Recently Lanz bought Halfar so when my kitchen faucet was showing low water pressure, I gave them a call and described the issue with their answering service. Within 10 minutes, on a sunday, I got a call back from a person from Lanz plumbing. He said this sounded like a clog in the aerator on the faucet and recommended unscrewing the head and looking for debris.
While on the phone, I cleaned it and solved the problem. No charge. He offered to come check it out if we wanted, or recommended that we could go purchase a replacement faucet head for ~$15. In our case, just a clean of the screen in the faucet head was all it took. Great service, helpful, and fast. I'll be calling them next time I have an issue, and am glad to see the service we received for years with Halfar is continuing under the new ownership from Lanz.

Had Dan and Adam come out immediately for a plumbing issue we were having in the office I work in. Dan did such a great job of not only coming up with a very inexpensive solution, but also explaining everything to me! This isn't the first time my company has used Lanz because they're such nice people with great customer service and they're always quick to answer your needs.

Just moved to town and closed on my home literally not 48 hrs before my heat went out over night and I didn't realize till I got home at 4 pm. I called Lanz right away and was put on the wait list. Their coordinator was very kind, helpful and answered all my questions. I received a call from the tech before 5 pm to tell me he was on the way. Their tech Josh is the definition of what I look for in a professional. Knowledgable, honest, courteous, explained the process through every step and answered all my questions without the attitude I've experienced in the past. Lanz prices are fair and the service was fast and friendly. Lanz will be my go to for all my heating/cooling needs.

I just had Lanz Heating out to check my furnace and thermostat. The thermostat was going blank at times. Thomas told my daughter that I needed a whole new furnace and that it would be $2500. He said it had cracks in it. He put a red tag on it and shut the power off. This morning I had another heating company evaluate the furnace and thermostat. I simply need a new thermostat for $45. He said, " your furnace is in good shape". Beware of this company.

We bought a brand new construction home about 10 yrs ago, which had the heating/cooling system installed by Lanz. A year, or two, after taking ownership, we were contacted by Lanz to inform us that the system they installed was inadequate and we (foolishly) listened to them and installed a brand new system, which was supposed to have a life expectancy of about 15 yrs.
Now it's halfway through the life expectancy of a new system that we installed to be proactive and now it's non-functional. Fool me once. Needless to say we will not be using Lanz ever again. And in talking with my neighbors that all had Lanz install or replace heating/cooling units, they feel the same way. This is a company that has built their business on shoddy work and substandard equipment. People need to wake up in East-Central Illiniois and stay away from this company!

On May 7, we called Lanz for an air conditioning problem in our house. At that time, the indoor air was not cooled down despite that the AC unit worked properly. The service person came and checked for leaking. He tried bubble leak search and detector search but was not able to locate the leaking. He recommended us to add refrigerant because he thought the leak might not be severe. Therefore, following his recommendation, we added 4 pounds of refrigerant.
We paid $358 for that service (call slip number: 44850). However, only after 1 month, in mid-June the same problem occurred as the indoor air was not cooled down again. So we called Lanz. Lanz promised to come back to us each time we called, but for three times that we called during last week, no one ever came to check the problem. Last Thursday, we decided to call another company, the Champaign Heating & Air.
The service person came last Friday morning. After checking our air conditioning system, he found the refrigerant was critically low. Using bubble leak search, he was able to locate the leaking area. In fact, the leaking was due to broken schrader valves. Moreover, the service person told us that he found the caps to the schrader valves were uncapped and put aside (when Lanz checked the unit last time), so that the refrigerant was gone so quickly within 1 month. The service person from the Champaign Heating & Air replaced the valves and put the caps back on, and the air conditioning was fixed. We paid $487 for that service.

We had their $180/yr maintenance plan and liked it. They came out twice a year and cleaned everything and made sure everything was working good. Now we just got on the $14.95/mo. plan. It's basically the same, except we get discounts on repairs. It is well worth it to keep your HVAC running in tip top shape. Today I called around 10a and was able to get someone out at 1p the same day. Ron came over to clean/inspect our AC unit.
He was on time, very friendly, and knowledgeable. He did not try and tell me I need something changed on my AC, unlike other companies have told me. I now know my AC will be humming right through these hot and humid Illinois summers. It's been hard to find a HVAC place I feel I can trust, but I believe Lanz is it.

Very poor. Called at 7:30 for repair on air unit. Receptionist said they would call back this morning. Lanz called at 9:00 and said they would be there this afternoon between 12 and 5. Purposely stayed at home.and they did not show at 12,1,2,3 or 5. I called again at 5 pm, and was told to ".be patient, the tech will be there, we work evenings too.". Gave up at 9 pm.
They never called or emailed me at all. Bad enough not to show up when promised, but not even a call. I expected them to call me the next morning, but no call. Called another competitor and they came within 2 hours and fixed.

Lanz came out to the house to install a brand new sump pump we bought for our condo. Firstly, the office staff was incredibly friendly. The two young women I worked with (first to schedule the appointment, then to fix the accounting) were professional, sympathetic (we had a time-issue) and congenial. The office staff helped me schedule a very quick appointment (within one week, I believe, of my first call).
My immediate complaint, however, was that the staff could give me no indication as to what the service call would cost. They could only tell me what an hourly rate would be, but said that the technician who came out to the house would have to give me their estimate right there while he was in front of the project-at-hand. In truth, that worked out to be my final complaint.
Despite the fact that the technician was at the house for a little more than twenty minutes installing the pump, Lanz still ended up charging me $201 (despite being quoted $75/hr). I was told one service hour would be mandatory ($75), but beyond that, it would depend upon the work and the difficulty that was necessary. I contacted the office as soon as I heard what we were charged (unfortunately I was unable to be at the condo when the work was performed, so my in-laws took over agreeing to the quoted price).
The office staff tried very hard to correct the issue and after about a week, I was issued a refund check for everything but the original one-hour quote. I appreciated them handling the situation and doing so quickly. Despite their few hiccups, I would still give Lanz 4 of 5 stars and would recommend their service to both family and friends.

This company will rip you off in the most shameless way. To stop two simple valves from leaking? This job can be done by an inexperienced home owners in 30 min. With Lanz, you have a choice between their "plain" service with 90 days warranty for $368, or "platinum" service for more than $600. There are "gold" and "silver" in-between. Much more expensive than my doctor (without insurance) or my lawyer.
When you call, you talk to a receptionist, explain your problem, she does not listen because she does not know a thing about plumbing. At this point she transfers you to another receptionist, who pretends to know something about plumbing, and you repeat your story. Then the technician comes, totally unprepared, charge you $69 for listening to you and leaves till next visit. Shop around and avoid these guys!

Sump pump failed and we ended up with 4 inches of water in the basement, causing our water heater pilot to go out. Managed the issue with the sump outside of Lanz, but called them to take a look at the water heater when the pilot wouldn't relight. Mike came out and took a look. After looking and trying to get it work, it seemed like the entire burner unit (not sure of proper terminology) needed to be replaced.
Before committing to that $200 part (not including labor!), he replaced the thermocouple and managed to get it to light. (A much cheaper fix.) Basically, he saved us a few hundred dollars (and several days without hot water). At the end of it, he was there for about an hour and a half and it came to $120 or so. (FYI, they should have a $10 off coupon on their website.) Would call them again, but am hoping not to have to!

These guys do a great job. I had Jeff out to give me a quote on a number of tasks that need to be taken care of as part of a massive basement renovation, and he handled the quoting quickly and professionally. He had a crew out to take care of the work quickly, and Mike, Wes, and co did a fine job. And FWIW, they came highly recommended from another professional I know who used to work in HVAC but now works in home inspections.
