Mel-O-Air Heating and Air Conditioning is awesome. Stacy the office manager is so helpful all along the process. The installers arrived on time and did a fantastic job installing our new HVAC system. They were all very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. I could not believe how quick and polite everyone was. When the install was complete, the technician that instructed me on the new "ecobee" smart thermostat was excellent on teaching me how to operate the smart thermostat. None of my questions went unanswered. I will recommend Mel-O-Air to all of my friends and neighbors.

I have used Mel-O-Air services for 20 years. I use their maintenance contract yearly, and this week had to have a new furnace/AC unit installed. They are always on time and professional and friendly. Just as the weather turned cold, our 11-year-old furnace quit working. We called Mel-O-Air immediately. A repairman came out within the hour, determined what repairs were needed, and outlined costs and options. The rational choice was a new furnace. Because it was Sunday, no one was in the office to advise on availability and scheduling. On account of the pandemic and related supply-chain issues, we worried about delay.
But the office manager (Stacey) called back first thing Monday morning, indicated that Mel-O-Air had 100 furnaces in stock, and scheduled three experienced installers (Scott, Jason, Mark) to come before noon. Skilled and courteous, the installers took just over 2 hours to install the new furnace and thermostat. Mel-O-Air's response time and workmanship were exceptional.

Highly recommend this Company for any heating and cooling needs. We moved into a new home and our 17 year old HVAC gave out very late on a Friday. One of the owners got back to me within minutes and was at our house by 7 am the next morning. We received a comprehensive list of options for a new furnace/AC and the team walked us through everything in detail.
The crew installing everything was extremely friendly and the level of workmanship was impeccable. Once completed they showed us how to use everything. The office even handles the all the rebates so it is as easy as possible. Wish all home service providers were as good as Mel-O-Air.

I called Melo Air to have my AC condenser clean and the unit checked. At a minimum, I expected them to clean the inside of the condenser (vacuum, remove debris) and clean the coils with a cleaning solution. Those two things in themselves take less than 30-40 minutes. The technician came, checked our unit, advised we get a different air filter, but the AC unit was never cleaned.
I was only around for the beginning of the appointment, so I was not able to inspect the work at the end. I came home later that day expecting to find a clean AC unit. Unfortunately, there was still all of the debris still in the unit, and the coils were still caked with dust. Clearly, it was not cleaned AT ALL. I called Melo back, assuming this was just a miscommunication.
They technician came back a couple days later. Again, I was unable to stay the entire visit. I came home that day to find ALL of the debris at the bottom of the unit, and the coils clearly had not been cleaned at all. For $130, Melo came out and checked to see if my unit worked (which is does) and advise a different brand of air filter. They never cleaned it, or if they did, the quality was very poor.
Now that we've coordinated two visits with disappointing results, I decided to clean the coils myself. A simple cleaning solution from Home Depot and a shop vac got the job done. It took 45 minutes. Very disappointed I paid for service and ended up having to do the job myself. It was clearly communicated I wanted the coils and condenser cleaned, and this was clearly not done.

My heat went out in the middle of the night. Their 24 hour on call called me back right away and helped me troubleshoot the problem. Although unsuccessful, they called me back first thing in the morning to check and were at my house by 8am. They folks here were courteous, prompt, fair, friendly and knowledgeable! We needed a new furnace and they were ready to start installing by 11am. I had heat by 3pm! Amazing place!

I have used Mel-O-Air for all my heating and air conditioning needs for many years. They never disappoint. Recently my air condition stopped pushing air through the vents in my house. The unit was working, but no air. They came on a Sunday and it was determined that I needed a new furnace. Buy Monday afternoon, my new furnace was installed and working beautifully.
Their work is efficient, flawless and fast. Also, their office staff is pleasant to work with and easy to reach. I would highly recommend Mel-O-Air for all your heating and air conditioning needs.

Woke up to the temperature in the house at 58° this morning. Something wasn't right with the furnace as it was only blowing cool air. I called Mel-O-Air and left a message with the technical line and was called back by John after about 10 minutes. I explained the situation and shared some basic research I found online. He asked that I send him a couple of photos and he'd call back with instructions.
He was able to assess the problem and provide a very simple fix without having to make a house visit. He did all of this free of charge. I highly recommend the company for their honesty and quick response.

Recently had a new furnace and humidifier installed by Mel-O. Great installation crew. Jay and Scott were top notch, did a high quality job and left our home as clean as it was before they arrived. They worked a long shift, didn't rush and stayed late into the evening until the job was all completed. Really impressed and appreciative of their nice work. Hard to find good tradesmen these days, but even harder to find great people! Thanks Mel-O. Job well done!

Highly recommend Mel-o-Air in Wheaton for heating & air conditioning service & replacement. Crew came over today at the time they said they would. They installed my new furnace & central air in one of the most professional manners I have ever experienced. Oh, did I mention that their pricing was very good and customer service was wonderful! They do not stand behind their work unless you want to pay them again. Prior owner of house had this furnace installed. We bought house 18 months later. We received all paperwork to the furnace. Noticed water leaking from under the furnace and opened it up to see what's going on. Water had been dripping inside cabinet causing lot's of rust.
They installed the exhaust pipe wrong and it was leaking condensate into the furnace cabinet. They have a 1 year warranty on labor but unfortunately this problem was caught after that time period. This clearly has been a problem since day one as the rust does not lie, but unless someone took the furnace apart this wouldn't have been noticed. A friendly phone call to this place went no where.
They implied someone must have changed it and that since I'm not the original owner how can I be sure that didn't happen. To suggest that someone took this furnace apart and redid it incorrectly is ridiculous. We are friends with the prior owner and confirmed with her that nothing was altered. I fixed it myself and had to drill new holes and move a part over to properly fix this and I confirmed with the installation directions from Carrier on the proper way to vent the pipe. Too bad they didn't read the same directions. Now we have an over $4,000 dollar furnace with a rusty cabinet due to their poor workmanship.

We were customers of Mel-O-Air for 14 years. We would have them come out twice a year to service the air conditioner and heater before the summer and winter seasons. In the spring of 2015 the technician came out to do the summer service on the air conditioning unit. It was raining terribly that day and I suggested to him he should come back when it wasn't thunderstorming to do the summer service on the air conditioning unit.
But he insisted on continuing to work outdoors in the pouring rain and in the process he shorted out the line to the motherboard which made the entire system inoperable. If he had cut the power to the unit before he started working, this would not have happened. We ended up getting a whole new furnace (from another company) because it was unknown what other damage was done in the process of shorting out the motherboard.
The service technician readily admitted what had happened and apologized for it. However when we contacted the owner of Mel-O-Air he was rude, refused to believe that the furnace had been working before his service man got here (even though his employee told him it had been working) and did not offer us any compensation for his worker's error.
In fact he demanded payment for a service call that ruined our furnace! He told us that we needed to pay the service call because his trucks were so expensive to put on the street. I strongly recommend that you do use Mel-0-Air!

Do not use Mel-O-Air! The button that ignites the pilot light on my water heater did not work anymore. The technician that was sent did not seem to know what he was doing so he call tech support. I was charged labor charges for his learning process. He said that he needed a part that he did not have so he called for the part. While we waited for the part to be delivered the labor charge continued to go up.
The wrong part was sent out so the tech returned on another day with the correct part but again additional labor charges. Another reviewer seemed to have similar increasing labor charge issues with Mel-O-Air.

These folks are great. They answered my call on a Sunday, directly with no voice mail nonsense. They paged a tech who called us promptly, and who spent a while walking me through some basic steps to try to fix the AC so we wouldn't have to pay the weekend rates for something simple. It did enough to get us to Monday, where another tech came out and got everything working better than it has in the 10 years we have owned the house -- and at very reasonable rates. Thank you!

My house had two air conditioner units and furnaces and both were 40 years old. One of units went out 2 years ago and we called mel o and they replaced the air and furnace unit. Once it was installed it worked but I was surprised the new unit did not seem to cool as well as the old one did. I just assumed that was the result of the system being new and maybe that's the way it was supposed to work.
A week ago the unit stopped working and we called for service. The tech came out said he could not find a leak but the system needed 2.5 pounds of Freon. When we turned the system on again it worked better than it ever had and made the side of the house it cools much cooler. I talked to several about the situation, one being a person who owned a heating and cooling company for 30 years and he said it seemed as if when they installed they didn't do all the calibrations correctly and it was not given the correct amount of Freon.
I called mel o and explained the situation and was given allot of explanations as to why I was wrong and was basically told how can I be believed and if there was an issue I should have called sooner. I was not looking for a total refund but felt some discount should have been given, but I am more ticked about basically being called a liar. I live in wheaton and try and support local business but after this I would never use mellow again.

Worst Service EVER! Very rude and pushy men. They made me feel bad for asking them to explain what they were charging me for. One of the guys ( who was in my home and saying it to my face) said to me that he's going to charge me for the time it's taking to explain to me. I'm a women and was home alone and he made me feel very uncomfortable with his pushiness and disrespect. I would not let them in my home again!

Please do not use them. Terrible customer service, arguing, interrupting me and then hanging up. They reluctantly replaced a part that had failed within a year. When I complained about the labor charges (what a good racket to keep on charging labor on bad parts) George interrupted me (a discussion is not explaining your policy over and over), then hung up on me.

This place is a complete rip-off! I needed emergency service on my A/C in the middle of the summer of 2012's heat wave. My air would not turn on period and the service tech who came out replaced a part on the a/c and also put in freon. He got it working temporarily and charged me almost $600. Sure enough a few days later, the a/c did not work again, so we called them back and they came up with another part that needed to be replaced for approx $400.
I would not let them do the work. Called the hvac company I usually use and they came out and replaced the thermostat for $125 and sure enough, it was the fix we needed. This industry has a history and reputation for charging and charging for services and parts not needed. I feel this company is one of them. Beware!

OMG worst place EVER! It was a 110 degree day and my air conditioning went out. The guy who came out was so rude and he hardly spoke to me. He cleaned my unit even though it was completely broke. I told him I would be calling his manager on monday and he told me I needed a whole new unit. So he did all this work and charge a crazy price of $206 which is insane!
Then on Monday I called George who is the service manager and he was VERY nice and told me he was so sorry and he was firing the guy that came out to my house because they had nothing but problems with him. He also promised me a $50 refund and told me how sorry he was. He said the refund should be in the mail in the next week or so once the check cleared.
A month later I didnt see a check so I called 3 times the finance manager and she never returned my calls so a week later a check in the mail came and it was only for $17 dollars! I called George and once again he was so nice and said he told her the check should have been for 50 dollars and to call her back on the following monday so I called her back once again and it turns out that George was the one who told her 17 dollars even though he talked to me and told me 50!
To wrap this up, called george and he said he knows he promised me the 50 dollars but they calculated the hours wrong and that I was only going to get the 17 dollars back. So he totally lied to me! I think they tried to scam me. Told me heat exchanger was cracked (it wasn't) on furnace at the end of it's life (only 8 years old and still under warranty) and manufactured by company no longer in business, so parts are hard to come by (I found the Carrier parts online myself.) Also told me to junk the non-functioning humidifier (which worked just fine when the water was turned on.) Be very careful.

A pipe in our basement burst and was totally flooded. I called them (even though they are not plumbers) because they install water heaters, and the pipe that burst was connected to the water heaters. Within 10 minutes someone was at our house inspecting the problem. Within 1 hour two guys were out and fixed the problem with great service. They even hauled away our old water softener that we don't use anymore free of charge!
It was a little pricey, but I guess that's to be expected with any type of plumbing work. It was worth it though, considering how fast they fixed our problem. Would definitely recommend.
