Usually excellent. This time the man who came out wasn't prepared for the job. Borrowed tools to get the job done. Was vague about final repair and more expensive than most. I've used Stephen's several times and this was the first time I'm dissatisfied.

I love working with Stephen's. They are professional, on time, and they take pride in their work.

Been a client for over 25 years. They again came to my assistance recently when my hot water heater went out causing a mess. Brian performed the install and restored service in a very reasonable time. Additionally, their price was more than reasonable for the urgency and scope of services. Great service and good employees who are competent, consistent and reliable!

We thought we had a clogged tub, when in fact it turned out to be our sewer line. The whole Stephens experience was great. We called last night & left a message to call in the morning. They called us back, first thing. They arrived a couple hours after that (quick turnaround). Chris & Pery diagnosed the problem quickly & determined it was a clogged sewer line.

They worked hard to get us unclogged, which they did. They kept us in the loop as to what was going on. This was the first time we used Stephens & will use them again. We discussed another project, Chris said they will get back to me with an estimate, via a phone call & send a hard copy of it in the mail. I highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for plumber in the Western Burbs.

Great plumbing company that came out within an hour of me calling. Jason was a great worker who explained everything up front.

Use them for plumbing services and repairs and while I still groan every time my 20+ year old home has a new issue, it's only because I forget the quick, honest advice these experienced professionals provide and how quickly I get these things resolved. Always a good and reliable repair and actually dissuaded me from spending more money on an item I thought I wanted installed before understanding the risks. Highly recommend.

I have read a review that was negative about a clogged drain. They paid 375 or something. And were unhappy about having to call someone else to finally fix it. I had a family friend who spent 10 hours with two people trying to unclog from the house to the street. We had a caregiver for an elderly person who didn't understand large wipes don't go in the toilet.

The first charge was like $1,000 And the rodded out 10-5 gallons of wipes.it was still running slow and they came back and spent another 10 hours for 2 people to keep rodding out the sewer until they went to the street and heard it was running freely. You got of lightly. If these family friends had not kept trying to get past the roots if the tree in the yard it would have required digging up the whole yard and relaying the whole sewer.

All I mean to say is you may have been disappointed by a less than $400 bill for rodding out a sewer but it can be a tough job. Next subject. I have used Stephens Plumbing for over 30 years in Downers Grove. Yes they are a premium plumbing company. But, they has e always backed their work. They lived in the neighborhood and their kids played all the sports etc.

If you were unhappy then you should have brought it up to the owner. I like to have everything go smooth but the true judge I use for a service company is how they handle an unhappy costumer. I have always been holy with them and ik is if you brought it up to Matt who was the owner when I dealt with them, he would have taken care of the problem. I have never heard of a dissatisfied costumer that didn't get their problem resolved. It is a fair and responsible company. Give them a chance to resolve the problem. Ask to speak to the own6, he is vert5 approachable.

30 year customer no more. Requested a specific Toto Drake toilet that was 17 high that we had previously purchased twice from Stephens. Stephens substituted a shorter toilet and charged just under $1,000 for toilet, install and replace water shutoff valve. We did not get bids which was a mistake. Stephens said our prior toilet is not made anymore. Toto local authorized distributor told me today it has 600 of the older Drake toilets in stock and that model is still sold.

We scheduled a service call and were able to get someone to arrive within 45 minutes of our call. John serviced our furnace and humidifer and fixed a couple of problems. His experience helped him isolate the problems quickly and resolve them. He did a great job. We're happy with Stephens, based on this, our first experience with them.

About a year ago, we had them come out to rod out our main sewer line, as our floor drain was backing up, mostly when doing laundry in the same room. The guy that came out was very nice and assured us his "repair" would last us at least 3-5 YEARS. It's happening again. I called only to find out that while we were told it would last 3-5 years, THEY ONLY WARRANTEE THEIR WORK FOR 30 DAYS!

Very disappointed in the company. Will be calling others for this 2nd of the same repair! I won't give them another $375 only to have to call them again in another year!

I don't need to get into the "how" or the "why" around a 10 week disaster of getting our washer and dryer delivered from another vendor. That's not the important part. The important part was that we needed someone to install these appliances because we no longer had faith in the original company to install a new exhaust pipe for the dryer and then hook up the new equipment. Brian was our technician and they showed up on time and were very professional, courteous, knowledgable, and got right to work.

They told me what would happen, what to expect, and alerted me to a few potential things that COULD go wrong (they didn't, but they wanted there to be no surprises). Beyond that, they knew exactly how to handle the exhaust install that the previous owners ruined (if you're going to do-it-yourself, please, do it right.). This company was so fast to respond to the initial request and they also were able to reschedule when one of our 4 deliveries was thwarted due to a damaged appliance. If you're still reading, you might need a hobby. Just call Stephens, already.

Fast, friendly and quality of their work was second to none. My go to guys for any plumbing work in the future.

Fast response and well done job. Kevin showed up minutes after my call and helped stopping a gas leak.

We have used Steven's plumbing and heating for at least 15 years in two different houses. They've always been fast, courteous, and knowledgeable. They let us know what needs to be done and check with us before they do it. I highly recommend them!

Came home to my AC not working at 7:30PM on a Tuesday night. Got a call back from Bob Dingles at Stephens within a few minutes. Bob showed up in less than 20 minutes. Super knowledgeable guy and was sure to clearly explain what he was doing to quickly fix my AC. Very good experience and would definitely use Stephens again or refer them to a friend. Thanks!

If I could give these guys 12 stars I would! Our air conditioning stopped working right at the beginning of a heat wave. They came out quick and got it fixed ASAP for a lot less money than I expected. John (the air conditioning whisperer) and Chris (Cody) were utterly amazing. Not only did they know what they were doing but they were honest and had integrity! I've used Stephens for maintenance before but after this, we will never use any other service!

This company goes the extra mile to help you out. I have had plumbing and heating emergencies and in every case, they have helped out and were an answer to prayer. My mother uses them also because big or small everything is done very well and for a reasonable price. They even have 24-hour service with a higher fee for after hours. It is worth it for those emergencies.

They are also great detectives and find the problem and present solutions. From Jackie that answers the phone to all the techs that come out, you can't get better quality of service. Thank you Stephens Plumbing and Heating.

We moved to Downers Grove, IL from New England (Portland, ME) and were looking for a company to service our home furnace. Chris came to our residence in December for an annual check-up - he was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Last week, we had no heat and upon calling Stephen's Plumbing and Heating, Bob came to our residence within the time of arrival promised.

He was also very friendly and professional. He was able to fix our furnace (igniter relay) via parts he had in his truck. The time he arrived was after hours. The charge for this visit, parts and labor was all very reasonable - and very much appreciated. Both Chris and Bob were great technicians and clearly proud to be with the Stephen's Plumbing and Heating company. My wife and I have been very impressed with your organization. Stephens plumbing is fair and reasonable. They came out quickly and did the job for less than half the cost Jay's Plumbing wanted. Additionally, their products are far more fairly priced. Where Jay's wanted five times the cost for a garbage disposal sold at Home Depot, Stephens was only $50 more. And they were happy to let me buy it from Home Depot and still install it. Don installed it and rodded out my drain in less time than was originally suggested, saving me on labor. He also was able to fix a couple of things that needed to be done in that time. Thanks, Stephens! I will be calling on you in the future.

I called to get an estimate on replacing our water heater, furnace, and A/C. It's a big project, so I wanted a few quotes. Stephen's sent a rep out the same day. After about an hour discussing the job, I liked him and what he had to say and likely would have hired them IF I had actually ever received an estimate. They came out on Wednesday and said they'd email me a quote.

The other companies I had already met with sent quotes within 24 hours, some much sooner. Late Thursday afternoon, when I hadn't heard from them, I called to inquire and make sure they had the correct email address because that is an easy error to make. I was told the quote hadn't been done yet and it takes "a day or two" and that they'd get back to me.

All totally fine. Then comes the following Tuesday (6 days after meeting) and I still had not heard from them. Called again and was told he hadn't done it yet and they'd look into it and give me a call back. It is now EOD Thursday (8 days after meeting), I have not received a phone call or email estimate. I have no idea why getting a quote would be so difficult, but if they didn't want to do the project, I would have appreciated that they had been upfront about it and hadn't wasted our time. Now we are behind on our timeline for this project. This is not the proper way to conduct business or portray your company to prospective customers.

Called to get assistance with leak from upstairs bathroom faucet, after injuring my knee the prior week. Stephen's was able to work around my schedule to send someone. Jason arrived as scheduled and was very professional and capable. He explained everything, replaced the faucet cartridges, faucet handles and escutcheons in both baths. Did an excellent job! We will be calling them again on the future.

Called early in the morning because we noticed that our basement utility sink was backed up. They were able to get out to fix it within 2 hours. The technician was considerate, efficient, and even shared some tips to prevent future issues. Highly recommended.

Recently moved into a new home and the unit had been serviced by this company they had no problem turning on and changing filters before per the service label on the unit. Apparently they would rather replace a working unit because it's just old than actually do any upkeep since it is not "worth their time"

The posters who commented on the front desk woman were spot on. Nothing has changed in that dept. She is rude, dismissive, talks over you and generally acts like you're annoying her and she's doing you a big favor to even take your call. Her personality is somewhere between disgruntled lunch lady and tow truck company receptionist. Must be a relative of the owner.

Anyone else would have been bounced ages ago. That coupled with the fact I couldn't get a call back about scheduling an install because they just plain forgot about me made me take my business where it may be appreciated. I figured if this is the type of service I could expect when trying to give them my money how are they going to act if there is an issue?

Of course on the hottest day when we needed air conditioning, ours failed. Since we have used Stephens for many years, we had confidence in brands they recommend as well as service they provide. They were swamped but came within a couple days, and since we had an old system, took the time to bring us up to date on new equipment, laying out options of cost and efficiency.

We also needed a new heating system and water heater. All in all, they replaced everything, were extremely neat, and considerate of our schedule by coming a day earlier than they had planned, and finished in the time frame they predicted.an expensive project so wanted, and got, reliable skilled workmen.

Our neighbor recommended Kelly because we were having some big issues that none of our handymen could fix. He was terrific! Very professional, nice and fixed everything in no time at all. Plumbers are so expensive, but we will definitely call Kelly again next time we have any bigger issues.

Outstanding service. Very trustworthy. Stephens Plumbing was recommended by a friend. I said I had two jobs: replacement of all toilet parts in my powder room and rodding a bathtub. I was ready to pay for both. Instead, the plumber, Dan, explained that I only needed some of the toilet parts replaced and the tub drain needed to be cleaned, but rodding wasn't necessary. I'm very happy with their service and highly recommend them.

Have used this company at least two times in the past. Both times the plumbers were professional and very helpful. One even called my tenant directly to help address I was having at that time.

I live in a 2nd floor condo. Leaks can really cause problems for the unit below to say nothing of strained relations. Gas hot water heater started leaking, called Stephens at 10 a.m. and by 3 p.m. had a new heater installed. Ryan and Kevin were very courteous, professional and cleaned up afterward. They even removed two mice, toy mice my cats managed to "hide" under the old heater. I rate them a 5 star because everything with them was straight forward. I definitely recommend Stephens.
