Our Company was founded in 1850 by William Davis Jr and incorporated as Davis Modern Heating & Cooling in 1982. The Company started with wood & coal heat in the 1800s and then oil heat in the 1920s. Today, we service all brands of heating and air conditioning equipment. I don't appreciate this company trying to scam me and my client out of $1,500 when we went to get her heater inspection. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her brand new heater and they made up a bunch of stuff that needed to be fixed. Long story short I called someone else out to double check and they gave me a cert and it passed with flying colors.

We hired Davis to install a totally new HVAC system and ducting in our 1940s house. They had to rip out the old furnace from the basement, install the new units in the attic and run all new ducting throughout the house. We also had a tankless water heater installed. This was a huge job and we got estimates from half a dozen vendors. Davis was not the most expensive but they weren't the cheapest either. Jim was the engineer who did the estimate, and helped us plan out the install/ equipment.
It was obvious he had an engineering background and understood efficiency/cfm/ airflow very well. Chan did the install and Dennis oversaw the project. I even got a call from Bill Davis just to see how the project was going. Chan and his crew showed up every morning on time and had it done within a week. Chan was very respectful of our house, laying down drop-cloths, wearing booties and making friends with our dog.
There was a slight issue with some wiring and he came back twice more to make sure it was properly taken care of. During the install they were receptive to our our design and aesthetic requests, and helped us come up with solutions that would fit the needs of our upcoming remodel. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you to the entire crew at Davis!

Called them because my heat pump stopped working. Provided them with the model information and error code so they'd be prepared. After several calls, they finally sent out a tech. He spent 15 minutes, charged me $76 and didn't even attempt to fix it. He said someone would call me back to order parts that were non refundable and might fix it. That was two weeks ago. Needles to say, I do not recommend this business.

Davis did the heater maintenance work. So when the A/C (May) needed to be replace called this company. Everyone was very professional from Jim made the estimate, to the technicians Shawn & Nick. The work took most of the day. Once they were done, they reviewed the new system, allowed me to ask questions and left the place as if they were never there.
So when the water heater ruptured (August) I did not hesitate to call Davis. The location of the water heater was tricky. But Jim was able to locate a tall one. Dave the technician did the install with a helper. He allowed time for questions and explained the system. Also left the place as if they were not there.

Davis Heating and Cooling installed a new Bradford White water heater. Price was competitive. The techs arrived on time, wore masks, worked efficiently maintaining the area clean when they performed the work. They were on time and completed the replacement in less than 2 hours. The techs were professional. I use Davis for all of my home heating and cooling Maintenance

If I could I would put 0 stars this company is a joke davis shouldn't be in business, scheduled an appointment for a heater cleaning, they have rescheduled twice and both times they have called me at the time of appointment and gave me nothing but excuses that they can't make it, both times i left work early and both times they didn't show. Then they call me to reschedule again and saying we can't do anything about it, such a bad company don't even bother with them don't waste your time.

I have been a customer of Davis for probably 30+ years. I can always count on them for the best service. I recently needed them to install a new heating system. A representative met me and my husband at our house and explained everything to us in detail. There was no pressure at all and no rush to make a decision. He informed us of rebates and the necessary permits required by the township. Davis took care of all of that for us. Was it fun having to buy a new unit?

From the people who answer the phone, to the representative who helped us select a model, to the manager who visited our house and oversaw the project; to the technicians who performed the service - each and every one was outstanding. We received an alert from our Nest thermostat that our furnace was turning on and off while heating. Due to the fact that we have an infant, we wanted to get it checked out by a professional. We called Davis and someone came out to fix it wIthin three hours of our call. Dennis was polite, thorough, and explained everything in detail. He also added a picture of our make/model/serial number of our unit so it would be in our account for reference later. I will definitely be using them again if needed!

They were extremely knowledgeable, took all precautions to protect our home and did an impeccable job installing a new AC and Furnace in one day and walking us through what to expect and how is the unit. As far as value I had other estimates and they could not complete with what Davis could offer for value. Overall they were an A++. Thank you Davis team!

I can't say enough about Davis! Our A/C broke on a Saturday not being sure if the company we have a service plan thru for our heating also covers our A/C we called them. Soooo glad they didn't cover the A/C. We called Davis Saturday night and they had a tech out at exactly the time they said on Sunday. Unfortunately it was beyond a fix. Jim, from Davis, came out that same evening and gave us a quote on a new A/C with a heat pump to help with the oil bill.
They were on time to come and do the job and it was a smooth instillation for us as the homeowner. I'm sure there were "blocks" for them, it is an older home, but we never knew of them. Needless to say.the air is back on and we are as happy as anyone can be with the job that was done! So nice to deal with a company that knows what they're doing and comes through like a champ.

Be weary of promises the sales representative will make as the owner never intends to make good on them. Some call this "sales fluff". Recently used Davis to replace our Central heating and cooling system - after getting quotes from various local vendors, Davis was in the middle and based on the job as it was explained by the sales rep, seem to be exactly what we wanted/needed.
When it was time to install the system, it was very, very clear that the installers and sales rep had never spoken about the job, nor did the company intend to make good on promises made by the sales rep during the actual sale. Davis uses an old-style carbon copy form with various checkboxes and lines where the sales rep can write in whatever detail they need however it's clear that the information gathered on this form is only used in the sales process and will never make it to the installers.
Also there are items called out on this form that are not going to be part of the install. As you can imagine I spent more time on the phone and writing emails to Davis's owner that in the end, we should've went with the more expensive and more qualified/competent company. Advice if you wish to use Davis Modern, get in writing on Davis letterhead with exactly what they intend to do or "what they are selling you" - lastly if you have gone with Davis or choose too, do yourself a favor and check the model numbers that are installed versus what is shown on your invoice/bill as you may find discrepancies.

***DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE FOR SERVICE***I had been a customer for several years. I was stuck with no heat in my rental, with plummeting temperatures last week. They charged me over $600 to install a pilot burner. Not because that is what it cost, but because that is what the "Flat Rate Pricing" is. When I was given the estimate I was led to believe this was a major undertaking. But, 2 hours labor and a $40 part and I was charged $609.
I wish I made $275 an hour. The Service Manager basically told me too bad, that is what we charged you. I was stuck and had no choice as this was the Friday after Thanksgiving. I used to think they were a decent, I was wrong.

I have purchased several heaters air conditioners and water heaters from Davis Modern H and AC, had ongoing maintenance contracts and had been very pleased with their service, however I purchased a new air conditioner a few weeks ago and it takes 2 hours to cool down each degree. I was told it was because it was 95+ degrees outside but same is happening now that it is 81 degrees outside. My last one cooled much faster even just before it died. Although I am told it had the same capacity as my old one it is very disappointing.

Fantastic HVAC company. I suspected my 20 year old heat pump was on it's last legs and sure enough when I scheduled a furnace tune up their technician immediately noticed. My unit was leaking and the coolant used in it is no longer being manufactured (due to environmental reasons) so the only feasible option was to replace it. It had basically been running primarily on the elelectric backup heat this whole time.
At least the new unit will be more efficient (rated 16 SEER) versus my old one (rated 10 SEER). The federal minimum nowadays is that all heat pumps need to be rated at least 14 SEER. Replacing the furnace is expensive, but I felt comfortable with Davis Modern throughout the whole process. I met with their sales rep, Jim, who is actually an engineer by trade so he was able to answer all of our technical questions about the equipment. Jim is friendly and easy to talk to, and he didn't try to oversell us any products or services.
We decided on a Armana brand rated 16 SEER which came with a 10 year warranty overall and a lifetime warranty on the outdoor compressor. He also presented a 14 SEER model (cheaper) and mentioned more expensive models with higher SEER ratings - but that the 16 SEER model is the most popular and bang for your buck. On the installation day, two technicians came to our house and they worked the whole day from 8 am to 3 pm without stopping for food or water!
They were very friendly, professional, and courteous. My electric bill BEFORE the new heat pump was about $400-$600 a month in the winter. I'll update my review after a few months to compare my new electric bill.

We just had a new HVAC (furnace and AC) unit installed. The Sales Representative (Jim) was very knowledgeable and most importantly did not confuse us or try to sell us something that we did not need. He met with us on a Monday evening and the unit was installed the following Tuesday (very fast). They sold us a 2 stage Amana furnace and a 1 stage 16 SEER AC unit.
The installation team were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. We are very comfortable with a purchase that was over $6 K. We had a couple of questions after the installation was completed and the office was very responsive. The permitting process was transparent. The bottom line is a purchase this expensive is always stressful. The people at Davis are very professional and made the process as easy as possible. We are very happy with their service and our purchase (so far-it is an HVAC unit so the real proof is long term operation and comfort).

Always received personalized, friendly, PROMPT responsive service. Technician needed to make several stops throughout the weekend day and did so without even a hint of being frustrated. Technician was up-front with the entire process, nothing was hidden. The manager (Bill or Dennis, I don't recall who) called me back within 30 minutes of my initial off-hours call and troubleshot with me before even deciding that a tech needed to come out. They are my first and only call anytime service for my heater is needed

My AC broke Sunday evening on one of the hottest days. I called the company that I have used for years at 8PM. Someone was there to answer my emergency call. She informed me that the next available appointment was Tuesday late afternoon to early evening. I understand if they couldn't come out Sunday evening, but they couldn't come out until Tuesday late afternoon.
This HVAC company advertises on the radio and television claiming that they will come out at no extra charge for their 24hr emergency service. Not sure what they consider an emergency. So, I called Davis Modern Heating and Cooling. I asked if they can send someone in the morning? The next morning I had a repair person out to fix the problem and my AC is working perfectly. The repair person was nice and neat. They will be my new HVAC company for now on.

From day 1, Jim and his crew were the best professionals I've ever had the chance to meet. Jim was able to summarize all the problems and found the best solution: a propane boiler that will also help us save on water heating. 2 in 1! His quote was one of the best, they took charge of everything, including the old oil tank removal. His team was really nice, hard-working and more than competent.
