RickJohn Roofing, based in Highland Park, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1978 by good friends Rick Gammiere and Robert "Bob" John Wallo. Both native Pittsburghers, they have been restoring and servicing some of the most prestigious homes in Pittsburgh for the past 44 years. Rick and Bob got their start in construction in the 70s, working for a home construction company.

Today was a windy day - so windy that a few shingles blew off of my roof. Rick John was the only roofer to actually answer the phone and send a repair technician over within a few hours. The roofers were kind, professional, and very skilled at their trade. I will recommend Rick John to anyone who asks me about quality, fair priced roofers. Thank you for being so honest and prompt!

Called three roofing companies on a weekend and Rick John was the only one that responded within an hour. Rick came out the next day. He sent one of his employees out within 2 days to repair two roof leaks and we are getting an estimate within 5 days for total repair of our slate roof. Each encounter they displayed professionalism, high level of customer service, safety protocols, and instilled confidence in their knowledge of roofing repair. They shared photos of the problem areas and explained what needed fixed. Great company!

I sent Rick a text message and had a response within the next hour. He asked for some clarifying photos and questions and sent a team out the next day. They were friendly and knowledgeable and managed to jump right into addressing my issues. I have a low-sloping roof and I will certainly be doing all my roofing work and maintenance through RickJohn Roofing from now on!

We had a tile fall off our roof - called it in to another roofer and they told us two weeks. Three weeks later we call back in and are told probably another month because they need to focus on 'emergencies' and since we don't actually see the water leaking into our house, this isn't that. Called Rick John today and they were out two hours later and the tile was taken care of in short order. I'm sure that's not going to be an every-job response time, but today they made my life a little easier and I'm not going to hesitate to call them again.

Reached out for a quote. A man came to my house and gave me a verbal quote in October. I have tried 5 different times to contact them. No one returns my calls or responds to my repeated e-mails. We wanted to give them our business because their verbal quote was very good and they came recommended to us. Very sad way to do business.

Sadly, I had a similar experience. Waa quoted $7000 for deck work. Once the salesman found out the homeowner was an attorney, he assumesd he had money and literally doubles the price for the same work. Thankfully, I had literally written down what the original quote encompassed and when I asked him, he told me it was double the work and cited the exact items he cited me the first rime, just twice the price.
I already got various bids and his was reasonable first round, outrageous the second time. Very diaappointed. Despite hearing the work is often good, the sales tactics are shady at best.

I wish I could review Rickjohn's actual work, but I can't. We set up an appointment to get a leaky skylight fixed. The technician no-showed for the first appointment because he "forgot" (we waited at home all day for him). Then he cancelled the next two appointments with less than 24 hours notice. After 3 missed appointments in 8 days, we'll obviously be going with a different roofing company now.

I asked for a quote to consider this company for my roofing job. The salesman was a bit abrasive. He asked me if I had gotten other quotes and from what companies. Once past that, he told me that if I gave him $1,000 today, they could start next week. If I received a quote I liked better, he'd return my check to me. I don't even buy groceries that quick, let alone a roof.
I felt like I was dealing with a pushy car salesman. I know that my roofing job should be somewhere between $5,000 and $7,000. He came in at $9,600 and said anything in my range would be "junk." I would not recommend even getting a quote from this company. Bad tactics.
