Norbert E. Mitchell, Sr. was fresh out of the Army in 1945, when he returned home to Danbury and purchased his first oil truck. It was spruced up with a new coat of paint and a sign which read "Just Finished Serving My Country, Now Ready to Serve You." With a dream and a great deal of determination, Mr. Mitchell embarked on a venture that would grow and prosper over the years. His accomplishments far exceeded even his own expectations. In those early days, Mr. Mitchell operated his fuel oil business in Danbury.

At midnight, the temperature started to drop in our house. The temperature outside was 16 degrees. We feared frozen water pipes because of no heat. We called Mitchell oil company at 12 30 A.M. within the hour. A service technician was at our door, introduced himself as Willian, and worked on the oil burner for one and half hours. He was very professional and checked all possible causes of no heat.
Finding and fixing the problem was a great welcome considering the temperatures. I would like you to pass on our thanks to William. I have been a Mitchell customer for many years and are always very professional and considerate. William is an asset to the Mitchell company.

The NE Mitchell tech who have come to the home have been 5-star. The NE Mitchell customer service rep answering the phone today only - had a short fuse. I called to request a price match w/ my neighbor in the duplex we both occupy. I'd leased in Feb. She'd leased in a Summer month. Therefore, our renewal dates do differ. I was directed: access WiFi, then log in, OR re-establish a Username, a Password then choose a plan and a price.
I asked the rep to please stay engaged and on the phone with me. The price that popped up was $5.09/gal for propane - yet it was an error. The other tenant is in a $2.09/gal rate as was I for the prior 12 months. I was asking for an extension of that rate - willing to pay in advance. There was no USPS mailed offer (I thank you for that - paper and postage savings), yet I would have chosen and email OR a text when I was welcomed to pre-pay. Please consider notifying all clients via email OR text during the Pre-pay option period.

Have been a customer for over 30 years. Never a bad experience. Every technician that has come to my house has been great. Always friendly and professional. Never felt they were trying to do something that didn't need to be done. And always fixed the problem. Also, their office people are great. Again, friendly and professional. Always helpful. We had an emergency with an AC unit breaking down in the middle of a heatwave. Mitchell send a technician within a couple of hours to fix it, saving us from a sticky situation. When that unit eventually had to be replaced, Mitchell did a great job quoting us a fair price and scheduling installation without delay. All in all, excellent responsiveness and service.

The tanker arrived to drain the tank at 06:55 am and departed around 09:00 am. The crew were then able to quickly move the empty tank aside in the basement, remove the basement door, bring the new tank down into the basement. The old was removed, the floor swept clean, and the new tank installed. The job was complete by approximately 03:00 pm and the basement was left perfectly clean. The crew were most polite and friendly and did a terrific job.

After my Yelp review Mitchell did in fact reach out to try to come up with a resolution. Since the work they said was done was not complete I had asked for the bill to be dropped in which I got a written response of "My goal is to get this bill off your account entirely" from Tim. I had asked for a written resolution but they would not do this and only offered to speak on the phone which I repeatedly said I did not have any interest in. Low and behold after that I receive a new bill in mail with an additional fee attached

I want to say think you to Mitchel Oil and Eric the tech for coming out in the middle of a snow storm to fix my boiler, not only did he show up in about 2 hours, but upon interring my house he took off his shoes, my own family sometimes will not take off there shoes. LOL. He went to his truck about 4 times for tools and every time took off his shoes when coming back, this to me is a sign of a caring and understanding person.
By the way he fixed my boiler and he did in about an hour, saving me $$$. Thank you again to Eric and Mitchell Oil. I have been a customer for 12 years and will continue to be for years to come! Happy Hollidays!

We were without heat, we called Mitchell Oil who ordered our new boiler and installed it immediately. There was constant communication. They showed up on time, the work was done properly. Another great job! I feel the term 'customer service' has, at times, lost its meaning. You restored my faith in businesses taking care of their customers. Mitchell Fuel has caused me many problems over the past several years. Firstly, last year they neglected to tell me they couldn't get up my driveway with their truck in a snowstorm so I ran out of propane! This year their prices have increased tremendously. I was paying off my bill and made a payment two weeks ago and then another today. I have one more payment to go and they refuse to deliver any propane unless I pay in full each month!
In addition, they never leave me any indication of the amount of fuel delivered even though I have asked them to do that quite a few times! They have no heart or compassion and their communications skills are terrible. I am hoping to change to another company as soon as I can.

I woke up to no hot water. Ugh. Im a renter and my landlord needs to approve the service and any charges that a repair company makes. I emailed The Mitchell rep I had communicated with in the past, Stephanie, knowing that they needed permission to do work. It was around 7:30am. I informed her of the problem and provided the landlord contact info again.
By 9:30 am she had communicated with the owner and got permission and arranged for a service call. By 10:30am they arrived. By 1:30 pm the problem was fixed. Communication was great. The customer service was exceptional, and they made this repair quick and easy. Very pleased all around.

I have been a faithful customer of Mitchell's for years. My advice to you is to request Kevin. I believe he is their top technician. I have never had additional problems after he fixes whatever need be, but have had some additional problems when other guys come to my house to do the job. Kevin is the man and he knows what he's doing!

We recently had a problem with our oil burner and though we were not currently a service customer of Mitchell, they were willing to come out on a Saturday evening and repair our oil burner. As a result they will get our oil delivery and oil burner service business because it's clear that they have a very customer centric attitude which is hard to find these days.

I had a problems with Mitchell initially but once I had a supervisor involved things started working out much better. I used to have trouble getting rates and pricing in writing but I am noticing an improvement with this and am crystal clear now. In the past, the "gas guy" did not speak to the "oil guy", but since getting a supervisor involved, I no longer hear "that is not my job description". Indeed if you go up the food chain you will get great service at Mitchell because there are people there who care.
