Air Specialist has gone down hill. Purchased a new AC unit did a great job. Provided a new unit the very next day. Then it went down hill from there. Opened up my attic to put in the new unit, Never closed same up. all my coolant goes right through the roof. Punchlist item for over 10 years. Was stuck with a service plan for maintain for over 10 years to keep the warranty but now instead of coming out to conduct maintenance.
They call to cancel cause they are to busy ripping other people off. The rescheduled maintenance for scheduled for today. (Another day off of work waiting on them). No call! No Show! Time to start invoice all my loss time, loss of coolant, and frustration. Save your money and time, go with someone else.

I called this company because of the reviews seen on Google and it impressed me. I will say they are professional and friendly, unfortunately what they lacked was service to work with me on my issues. When the technician (Carlos) arrived at my home my outside unit (compressor) was working properly and was cooling my home to 76 degrees with the ac set at 74 degrees in the hottest part of the day. Carlos found a slight leak in the inside unit (condenser) and thought to add refrigerant (coolant) to help cool the home more adequately with the idea because of the leak found the system wasn't charged.
After adding half a pound of refrigerant he then left without charging me for the service which would've costed $76. I thought that was very generous but after he left I turned my ac back on only to find that my ac wasn't cooling at all, It completely stopped cooling. I was surprised at that point that Carlos didn't even come inside my home to check and see if my home was going to cool, mind you it was 95 degrees out and now 89 degrees inside my home.
I immediately called Carlos to see what would cause the ac to completely stop cooling at this point. We went from having a slight leak in the inside unit to now having the outside unit not cooling the home at all. He said as soon as he finished the next service call he would come back and check out why such a change in the entire system and why it is now not cooling at all.
He came back and took the refrigerant he added back out to see if that caused the now malfunctioning outside compressor. After exhausting the refrigerant into the air he checked his display and found it made no difference because the compressor was now just not working properly. I must say that I had a working compressor when he arrived to having a malfunctioning compressor after he left.
The companies only defense is that it just went out at that exact moment. The entire ac unit is only 9 years old and what went from slight leak in the condenser and the idea to replacing just the inside condenser is now replacing the outside compressor as well. I cannot say for certain of course if they created this new mechanical failure with my outside compressor but it very ironic that it just so happen to go out when he added that half a pound of refrigerant to a system that only needed 3-4 lbs.
After all that I get a call from Brent Denny the Advisor to show the estimated cost of repairs, on this proposal all it shows is the total for $8260 and a $500 discount. It shows nothing about cost of the materials or labor, just the total and nothing else. I asked him if he could break down the cost and he plainly said he couldnt. Now, I dont know of any company that doesnt break down a proposal or estimate of cost of services. How can you expect someone to pay good money without any idea of cost of materials and labor. Again nice people but truthfully I wished I never had them come to my home.

We contacted Air Specialist to consult with them on a new AC. Ours was about 14 years old and had several problems. The power costs + KvA demand was increasing on our old unit. We discussed three options with Brent who made time in his schedule to talk with us. They showed us a cheap fix and a middle of the road fix. As an Engineer, I asked for a high efficiency unit price which was our choice.
New AC units are not cheap, but fixing half of your problem is not always your best option. We were very impressed with Brent and appreciated his efforts. They came out on Monday at 0845 Am worked all day and Installed the new system finishing shortly after 1700, (5:00 pm) They did a great job and were professional and courteous to my Wife and family. They left the area clean and neat.

I give John the technician 5 stars. He was so nice, very thorough and explained everything he inspected. Kim in customer service was not pleasant, I called this morning to confirm the appointment I made weeks ago, and she told me I was on the board to be rescheduled. There were others with emergencies and if I had an emergency they would cancel other people's appointments.
She went on to explain that they run over a 100 calls a day and she could have the service manager call me (which never happened). The next available appointment was 6/27. I do not like these kind of conversations. She finally said they could keep me on the schedule sometime between 11-3pm. I called at 3:30 and was told I was next. At 4:30 AS called and said it would be 35-40 min.

It was such a great experience working with my tech. He was very knowledgeable of the AC unit and he knew right away how to fix the issue i was having that was causing a leak. He also used protective shoe covers so he didn't bring dirt into my home. I would definitely suggest using this company to any issues you may have. Services: A/C system maintenance, A/C system repair

I accidentally called this company instead of the one I intended to call, and am so glad I did. Everyone I've interacted with gas been great! They do what they say they're going to do when they say they're going to do it and have always been very responsive. The technicians are very knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. They inform you about additional work or parts your system may need to extend the life of the system, but there's no high pressure sales involved.
They give you the information, answer your questions and then let you make your decision in your own time. I would definitely recommend this company. I would also highly recommend the maintenance program they offer.

Air Specialist replaced our air conditioners in 2013 and they have been providing service ever since under a maintenance agreement. Air conditioner stopped working yesterday evening, so I called last night and got on the schedule today. Carlos showed up on time and fixed it with no problems within about 30 minutes after getting here. Great company! And thank you Carlos!

Joe (electrician/technician) arrived on time and was very professional. He actually allowed me to watch him diagnose and work on the issue with my A/C and was explaining what he was doing along the way. I actually learned quite a bit from him. Price was very reasonable for the work and I will be using this company again for A/C repairs and maintenance in the future.

Everyone I've dealt with in this company has been professional and personable. They communicate well with us and live up to their commitments. They sold us our new system and installed it, offering us various options to accommodate any budget. We chose to go all in with a new system and have had no issues. We have also contracted for regular system check up and maintenance which provides comfort and reassurance about the health of our system. Highly recommend.

BAIT AND SWITCH! Tl;dr at the bottom. Shady, deceptive business practices. First off, the guys doing the actual labor, installation, maintenance, etc. have been fantastic and they deserve every cent for their work. The salespeople, on the other hand, should be ashamed. I made a significant purchase and signed over a small fortune for a new, high-end complete variable HVAC system with all the bells and whistles. Did I pay too much?
Most likely, but I wanted to support a local business and I had a good prior experience with them. Day of the installation -- things aren't functioning right and I notice they swapped out the smart "communicating" thermostat with just a regular, conventional one. Said they'd be back to fix it tomorrow. Things happen. No problem. The next morning, things are up and running but the communicating thermostat wasn't installed.
They told me that if I wanted that one, it would be an extra charge. When I asked why they had that model in my home the day before then, they said they "accidentally put it in the truck". I told them I ordered a COMPLETE system with all matching parts. They said the system was technically complete and capable of what was proposed, but if I wanted the full advertised functionality with the matching communicating thermostat, I'd have to pay extra for it.
I was being shaken down (and belittled). I was furious. I consulted other HVAC companies and professionals to make sure I wasn't insane -- any variable setup also needs the usually proprietary thermostat. Otherwise it works, but you lose the full, advanced features and functionality. It was confirmed by multiple people, multiple times. Why in the world would I pay more for higher-end equipment just to have it throttled with a lesser, conventional thermostat?
So Air Specialist can make more money by charging to unlock the other features, of course. I sought legal counsel and was advised to terminate the transaction due to their business practices. Again, the guys who did the actual installation were great and I hated the idea of them performing futile labor just because their other staff don't know how to respect their customers. Hopefully this isn't another bad decision by me.
They eventually sent someone out to install the matching smart communicating thermostat at no cost. TJ, the salesperson, tried to counsel me against it saying those models can be finicky and buggy -- so, if you're suggesting lesser components: reduce the price I paid then, suggest something better, or give me what I asked and paid for. It isn't a difficult concept to grasp. Tl;dr: Air Specialist is a business first and will try to get as much money from you as possible. Cool, that's any business just trying to survive.
But Air Specialist, I've learned, will try to get that money by lying to you and gaslighting you. Absolutely shameful. There are so many honest, deserving, respectable local companies that can take care of your HVAC needs. Unfortunately, Air Specialist is NOT one of them -- they will always put themselves first. Good luck.

Kevin G. repaired our heater blower. He arrived on time, very well mannered and professional, promptly inspected and identified the problem. The next day he had the part and quickly had it replaced and back operating correctly. Made sure everything was working properly and confirmed we were satisfied with the service. Thank you Kevin and thank you Air Specialist for the quick service. Highly recommend.

My furnace stopped working. Technician came today, was very professional and courteous and honest. Parts and labor to fix the furnace equal 75% of the cost of a new furnace. He was not pushy or try it sway me one way or the other. Educated me on the situation, offered options and let me decide. Was a great experience. Service: Heating system repair

Our HVAC systems were installed by Air Specialist in October 2019 (see a previous review I wrote). Just wanted to share how helpful and skilled I have found Air Specialist technicians. Steve Dalton visited our home Monday to do maintenance. He is very knowledgeable and professional. Am pleased with my decision to go with this company for an upgraded HVAC.

I had a good experience today. Had an HVAC problem yesterday and the guys I had been using gave me one week to come and visit. Then I reached out to Air Specialist and they said they could come the same day. Price for the service call was $69 and if you did the work with them, they would void it. They sent a technician (Joel) within 2 hours of having called, Joel was a knowledgeable guy for what I could tell, told me what the problem was, fixed it and did not try to sell me anything.
Actually told me the Units were in good condition. Units are up and running. Price was within the range, not the cheapest but not outrageously out of bounds. All in, it went well.

Thank you so much. My A/C stopped working. My inside air temp was at 86 degrees F. Service Tech arrived within a reasonable amount of time after a follow up call was made by Air Specialist to let me know the service man was on his way. Joe was very nice and explained what he was doing. I asked him many questions and he was patient with me and answered everything I asked to help me understand. My A/C is now cooling! Yee haw! Thank you Air Specialists!

July 19, 2021: I use Air Specialist for my HVAC systems and I think my HVAC technician, Joe, is the best! I did, however, have my ducts cleaned today and the service was poor. Both technicians did not wear shoe booties from the get-go and they left a mess behind them. I reviewed their work before they left and I asked if they could pick-up and vacuum what was left behind.
They did NOT follow-up on their pick-up. I found a knife and a un-capped aerosol can in my 6-year-old daughters bedroom. This is clearly negligent and scary! Do I need to say more? I do not feel I should have to request technicians to clean-up after themselves much less more than one time.and to make sure they aren't leaving dangerous items behind!
This should be a standard service after they complete a job - pick-up after job. This makes me very uneasy about their level of training. I will not use Air Specialist for duct cleaning again. July 29, 2021: Update: I spoke to a service manager and I was assured the service performed was not standard. Air Specialists sent another group to re-do my duct cleaning which was completed two days ago.
I believe these men were aware of the situation in my previous cleaning. After seeing the debris left again in my bedrooms I have to imagine there's an inconsistency in their training. Is it a lack of training in thoroughness and quality after the job is complete? I have to wonder. My bedrooms were left again with debris (see photos) and I had to request clean-up and even then the clean-up was not thorough as there were still many areas that required I go back and clean-up.
This is not acceptable. August 03, 2021: Update: Last Friday, Jeff, Supervisor, called to 'make things right'. He listened to what I had to say after himself seeing my negative review and photos. I feel a fair sense of justice, though, some remaining disappointment that it took many attempts to be heard. I've been a loyal customer for 7 years and I've often felt grateful to having had Air Specialist install and maintain my systems.
I felt they were very professional and I didn't have issues with the installation. I'm happy with my HVAC technician--he is someone I appreciate and trust. I hope to regain my sense of trust with other services offered by Air Specialists --wirh time.

Absolutely terrible management and they lie about work that isn't needed (second opinion proved it with certainty) and they up-sale everything! I bought three full systems from them and after buying air purifiers and maintenance plans for the systems I soon learned the hard way from many bad experiences that this company is just straight up AWFUL!
Save yourself a lot of money and frustration and do not use this company. Far too many good ones out there for you to waste your money and time with this place! They will not care about you, only your money!

Not completely satisfied with over charging for a simple service and misleading pricing. Charged $65 to make appointment that was to be applied to the service. Technician cleaned a short PVC drain line and charged $216 for a $281 total service fee. Technician was on site for 30 minutes. CINDY the manager refused to get on the phone to explain the over charge. HOUSTON.

I've replaced two full residential units with this company over the past 12 months. I renovate residential houses and will be replacing more in the future for that in the future. They replaced a unit at a flip house and damaged the attic entry ladder and fixed it right away. I was very happy with their service and intended to be loyal for life.
I thought they had some integrity. I was wrong. If you aren't spending 10K replacing a unit they don't need or want you as a customer. They removed the small charge an old unit had so it works worse than it did before they came. Now I have a tenant that is boiling with no AC. They claim there is a leak but refuse to show me unless I let them do $2,000.00 worth of repairs first.
They don't have integrity. They are clearing attempting to remove an old unit (old but still working) before it needs to be replaced just to make money without regard to what spending that money means to the homeowner. It's shameful and I'm gonna tell everyone I know and try to tell everyone I don't know. Beware.

I've been using Air Specialist for more than 20 years and haven't price checked until recently. During a maintenance check it was discovered that I have a furnace blower motor leaking but it appears to me to be working fine. Air Specialist gave an estimate of just under $1900. I checked Costmate and they state the following, "The average cost to replace a broken furnace blower motor is around $290 when the part is under warranty and you pay just the labor cost.
When the blower motor is not under warranty, the average cost is around $450 which includes parts and labor for a standard furnace blower motor." I've always suspected I was being taken advantage of and that the HVAC industry was a real racket. When people are desperate for heat when it's freezing outside or ac when it's hot and humid, it's not right when a company over charges for a simple 35 minute fix. I found the blower motor for $235 and it will take 35 minutes to install. No more Air Specialist.

I have used Air Specialist for many years and paid for both my HVAC units on Maintenance plans. Last week I had one of their HVAC Techs come to my house to troubleshoot my Carrier Infinity units that had a communication error code. Tech called me back a couple days later and gave me a quote of $1699 for the motherboard on the outside unit! I asked for the part number and Tech said "his boss told him he can't give me it".
Well I researched it and found out why. I could purchase the same board, HK38EA023, for $400! What a rip off! But here's the kicker. I'm an electronic technician by trade so I went and checked the 4 wire communication cables on the outside unit and found 2 wires broken and the ABCD plug bad as well. Since equipment I work on has similar plugs I installed a new ABCD plug and reattached the broken wires.
Guess what Air Specialist. This fixed my issue! It wasn't a $1699 motherboard your Tech said I needed! I have pictures and video of before and afterwards on what I did to fix my issue!

It's a bummer that his "neighborly" company treats its neighbors with such lack of care. And if I'm going to leave such a low-rate review, I really need to explain why. So here's a brief explanation: I asked Air Specialists to level my air handler, as it was leaking condensation into the house. Instead of leveling, I got an invoice (just an invoice, no phone call) saying that the unit needed to be completely re-installed for $3000-4500.
No details on why, or what parts would be replaced, just that invoice. Additionally: - They didn't call before arriving: surprise visit. - There was no communication with me who made the call, but instead the technician talked only with my wife (against my request) who simply didn't understand the situation. - I received an invoice and a "Please rate your experience" email before I ever knew what the verdict was on my AC. - It's been 4 days since the technician reviewed my unit, and I've received 0, zero, zero! phone calls to follow up, or explain, or ask if I'd like to continue with their service.
We paid for the service visit immediately, and now I feel like I'm in their rear view mirror. I know times are tough in this pandemic, but if you decide to commit to start a professional exchange of services, you need to be able to follow through, not just simply take invoice money and move on. I will not be back, and will advise anyone else with AC problems to absolutely avoid Air Specialists.
No details on why, or what parts would be replaced, just that invoice. Steve Dalton came out to our house today and did an excellent job. First of all Air Specialists gives FREE ESTIMATES without charging a service call fee. The previous two companies came out and tried to charge us a lot of money for things we didn't need. Steve gave us an option to refurbish our unit or invest in a new unit. The other companies gave no such option. Air Specialists are professional, courteous and on time. Thanks Steve for doing a wonderful job today!

This people are huge crooks! They are big liars too! Please don't call them or give them business! They inspected our home when it was on the market. Told my realtor, husband and myself that three of the four units were working and the fourth needed freon. The inspector then told the buyer that the A/C's all needed to be replaced! Our buyers asked us for $34,000 for new a/c units! The old ones are still working! Sitting in my den freezing right now! Horrible company!

Con Artists! Avoid them at all costs. We called them on June 8 to diagnose and fix a broken Carrier AC. They told us it was simply an issue with the coils needing to be cleaned. We paid them almost $400 for that service. (In fact, we later learned from our regular AC guy who had seen the coils that same day, that the coils were not dirty. It was a complete scam!) On July 7, we experienced the same issue and same error code on our Carrier AC.
The second service technician who came out insisted that the issue was that we needed to remove the factory installed insulation. Given that I am not an AC expert, I trusted his opinion. I wish I hadn't. Almost $600 later, our AC is once more broken with the same exact error code. I have called the company twice asking them to make this right, but no one from management has bothered to return my call and they won't even send someone out to look at the issue until days from now.
This company is listed on Carrier's website as one of the service companies for their machinery. But, they are not qualified to service Carrier machinery and will con you out of your money in the process.

**DISHONEST, POOR WORKMANSHIP, INCOMPETENT** We purchased a completed 5 ton A/C system replacement 6/5/2019. Paid $8025. Air Specialist installed the new equipment on a rainy Wednesday 6/5/19 & left the old AC handler with drain lines cross-up in the attic. The unit leaked down the ceiling/sheetrock in the storage closet for 2 days damaging ceiling tiles, bending the ceiling tile frames around the area, & damaging the sheetrock & baseboards (see pics).
Once we discovered the water damage in the storage room, I reported the problem 6/7/19 & a service guy came out that Sat 6/8/19 & said that the installers will need to come back out & remove the old equipment & correct the drain lines. Air Specialist came back out on 6/11/19 to remove the old equipment (which they failed to do during the new system install) & fix the drain lines.
They said they needed everything to dry out before they can fix the ceiling tiles & tiles frames, sheetrock & baseboard. I have made at least 10 follow-up calls since then to correct this. It has been a pure nightmare to deal with these people. Every time I called, they will ask for the property address, review notes and say someone will call back but that is usually not the case.
They have made numerous excuses for the delay in fixing the water damage that their installers caused to our office storage room. I was told that the original installer was fired which cause the ball to drop on communications. Matt/Quality Manager has come out. Harold, their Sheetrock contractor has come out. Numerous commitments by Air Specialist to fix the damage has fallen through the cracks.
This week, I have called twice to follow up. Spoke with Matt again who made the same empty promises of sending someone out to fix the water damage that they caused but guess what, yep still no contact to do it. These people are super dishonest & shady. Beware & hold them accountable. They will make excuse after excuse. It has been 8 months of getting the runaround and the water damage is still not fixed.
I am super upset & plan to file a formal complaint with the BBB. btw---The sales guy who sold us the new system on 6/5/2019 is named TJ Pieri. It's super strange that a "T.J. P" did a Yelp review 5/16/2017 as a satisfied customer when all the other reviews that same timeframe is a Star 1 (see pic)----you be the judge on how honest these people are!

Updated: Management care about client feedback. I received a call from the CEO to address my concerns to our satisfaction. Technician: incompetent. Management: doesn't care. Warranty: impossible. I first used them to replace heater furnace for my home based on so many good Google Reviews. I never checked their Yelp review. Had I checked, I would not use them.
I asked them to check our HVAC for our business on W Holcombe. The technician ended up ONLY checked our heater, but not AC. Recommended about $1000 repairs. I called him and asked why we need to replace thermostats, he said it's optional. Then why you want us to replace it? Did about $700-800 repair on Heater by replacing heat strip and rewiring.
A week later the heater shuts off. Called them to check their repair work why it stopped working. My assistant was told they need to charge for service call. It took me a long phone call and good amount of energy to convince them that they should not charge and it should be considered as warranty check. The lady manager said she would follow up with me the next day.
She didn't. The technician came, and said no power. And he did not know where the breaker for heating unit is located. According to my own HVAC technician that he should know there is a breaker on the unit too. AND it turned out that AIR SPECIALIST technician over loaded our system when he installed new heating stripes. He didn't ever bother to check what the wire and breaker can handle.
I had to pay the other HVAC technician to undo Air Specialist incompment and wrong install which overloaded our system and could cause fire. I was upset and called them after hour requesting a GENERAL MANAGER call back. The staff gathered information, then GM never called me back. Good luck if you use them, be prepare to get burned and left in helpless situation. Google review is inaccurate as they do not filter. Yelp is better indicator of their services.

Got this company from Home Advisor and experience started out great. T.J., the salesperson, showed up promptly a little pricy for complete a/c system (condenser and coil). Installation crew showed up when expected and installed system. Were very respectful of my home (shoe covers, matting to protect the floor, etc.). When complete, 1. I noticed that lights on one of my wall switches was no longer working.
They reset breakers and made some calls, but no fix. 2. When I ran heater just to ensure it was working, my carbon monoxide deter went would not stop going off. They said a "QC" person would call to set appointment to come look at it. 10 days later no one contacted me, so I called. A lady (Nina I believe was here name), took a message for "that department". 6 days later no one contacted me, so I called. Spoke with "Nina" again and she forwarded me to voice mail for "that department". I'm waiting on a call back.
If history is any indication, I'm not confident I will hear from anyone. Such a shame you can't count on organizations to stand by their commitments. I plan to update this rating as my experience unfolds. If one person finds value in my honest review, the thousands of dollars I spent with the company will be worth it.

100% SCAM Their tech came out on Saturday and said 4 parts were bad with my AC unit. Total cost to fix - $1,000. I declined the service and paid their $120 trip fee, but not before the tech had me talk to a very pushy salesman who quoted me their "best price" of $15,700 to replace both of my units, which then dropped quickly to $13,150 once I said I will need to get other bids.
I had someone else look at the unit this morning and literally nothing was wrong with it, it was just low on freon. It surely didn't need 4 parts replaced. Buyers beware! These guys will do their best to sell you parts and service you absolutely don't need.

Have used Air Specialist for about 4 years. They are salesmen primarily, with a mission of making $$. Charged me $250 to "chemically" clean my condenser. Couple of squirts of "magic solution" and rinsed it with my hose. What a rip off. Found out later Simple Green does the trick. Recently, they quoted me $7,000 to replace my second, smaller unit with a new 14 seer Trane.
I called around and received a quote for a 16 seer for $5,800. Air Specialists called me back because they wanted the job and said they would match the deal for $5,400! What? They went from $7,000 to $5,400? Needless to say I went with the other company because Air Specialists tried to make a lot of money off of me. Shame on them. They still have my service agreements so I keep my warranties, but don't let them sell you ANYTHING.
