I called a few days ago to schedule an appointment for an issue in the home I rent. The female customer service rep was rude from the moment I said hello, it's as if she could care less and was annoyed at the prospect of helping me which was by the way a simple appointment for a problem I did not cause, also to mention the landlord has a few packages with this company to keep everything in working order which is very pricy. Rude customer service.

Issues with water heater (silt and brown water). Contacted ASTAR with this plumbing issue asking that a plumber be sent out. Sent HVAC tech who was not knowledgeable about this issue, although this is not to disparage the tech as he may be wonderful for HVAC. My husband told him he thought we needed new anodes but wasn't sure. Tech left and placed order for anodes.

When the anodes came in, we received call with installation date and time - Tues 04/26/22, 12:00PM-5:00PM. Kept the afternoon free for the tech by scheduling an app't for that morning. Monday the 25th, call from the original HVAC tech stating he'd be here on the next day. I asked why they weren't sending a plumber. Said he was trained in plumbing also, but I questioned why he couldn't diagnose the problem when he was here, and that I'd like a plumber. Said ok, he'd let them know.

My husband called later that same day with a question, and confirmed the time, 12:00-5:00. The following day, I was on my way out the door for a 10:00 app't when my husband forwarded to me a text stating the tech was on his way. I called the office and reminded them that our app't was for the afternoon and I was on my way to an app't. Sorry, but he needs 3 hrs for the anodes replacement so needs to come now.

I reiterated that I was on my way to a 10:00 app't and he needed to come at the stated and confirmed time. Again, sorry but he must come now and didn't know why we weren't informed. We could reschedule for next week. NO! I rearranged my day to accommodate them and I expected them there no earlier than 11:30, at which time I was sure I'd be back home.

Put me on hold and another women answered who I believe was a supervisor. No idea I was being transferred. Explained again and was greeted with a condescending and patronizing attitude. I apologize for the inconvenience but he must come now, not at 11:30 or 12:00-5:00. No concern for the fact that we were never informed of their change in time, or that I'd scheduled an app't that I now needed to cancel just minutes before my arrival time.

In the long run, I was forced to cancel my app't in order to have the silty, brown water corrected as we'd been living with it for several weeks already. The plumber was very knowledgeable and professional, taking care of the problem. He spent time testing the water and filling the tub mid-way in order to visually see the problem (something the HVAC tech did not do.

He merely ran an inch or so of water and said it wasn't happening for him, which wasn't true since I'd informed him that it happens when the tub is filled quickly to capacity, not just an inch or 2). Noah also called the mfg of the water heater in order to help diagnose the problem. No other issue with the water so far, but we'll see as time goes by since our total bill was for well over $800. Noah is the only reason I am giving 3 stars.

I also don't blame the original HVAC tech for not knowing how to diagnose as this was not his area of expertise, although I was still charged the $200 plus tax for a diagnosis. The office supervisor/manager was unprofessional; uncaring; patronizing, rather than making it right. For that reason alone, I would not recommend this company. Also, if you are having a plumbing issue, be sure to insist upon, and verify that you will have an actual plumber, not an HVAC tech.

This company is a JOKE. i have been paying them a lot of $$ monthly to be part of their 24 hr emergency COMFORT CARE CLUB And when i called them because i had no heat, they sent a technician to fix it. The guy said he fixed it and 2 hours later it wasn't working again. I called again and they sent a tech out at 9 pm who was here for 3 hours and couldn't fix it because he didn't have the nozzle that was needed so left and said the company would be back in the am.

It is 2 degrees this am and now KIM the dispatcher said they will send a tech on tues. That's in 3 DAYS! So NO HEAT FOR 3 DAYS AND SHE COULDNT GIVE A DAMN! stay far away from this company. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY, promise emergency service and then leave you hanging with no compassion or care! Calling the better business bureau now as this should be illegal!

The most overcharging piece of shit company I've ever dealt with. I'd rather hire a crackhead to perform HVAC needs in my home than to ever deal with this company again. At least the crackhead tells you he's robbing you unlike these slimeballs who smile to your face while they rob your back pocket.

I called a few plumbing companies Astar in Middletown was the first to call me back. They can the next day and looked at the job. I needed a new well tank. After quoting me a price and I had no choice I needed water. I went with it. It took them 4 days to come out with the tank. And once installed water was running. Smaller tank which I was not happy with but installed.

Next to the tank was my washer and dryer. They had to move it but I. The process now no longer works. Thanks to Astar. If you have someone that can watch what they do and is knowledgeable of things. Watch them. They will break other things just to come back and charge you more for what was already working. Just a head up stay away from these thieves.

No longer want them in my house. If I can give a 0 star I would. Charged me $2150 for a small tank that was installed in less than half hour. I have camera no I know what they did. And please don't go around looking and the rest of the house there are no plumbing in the bedrooms.

Worst experience with an HVAC company to date. The salesman that took my order in October 2020 (it is now July 2021 and I am still dealing with them) gave false information on my furnace and ac replacement, as well as failed to measure the gas conversion unit for my fireplace. $20k investment and they proved to be extremely incompetent and their work was less than professional.

The owner claimed he fired the salesman from so many complaints. I don't think he was the only problem as this company doesn't know how to provide good service, period. They left a huge gaping hole above my fireplace that my two year old can climb into. More than once they promised to re-install the marble surround they removed to install the conversion.

They measured the unit wrong then left me with the hole that I now have to pay a carpenter to custom a surround for. The owner said he would come and look at it and then had his secretary call and say he would be here in 2-3 weeks. Save yourself the hassle and use a competent and reliable company.

I went with big conglomerate because I was tired of dealing with scheister owner/operator plumbers that charge premium prices with no overhead similar to buying an upstate cocktail and being 60+ miles from Manhattan. Anyway, I'm not just any Podunk but self educated jack of all trades but I know when it's time to call in professional. I got this shop because they're a big outfit so they care about the little man, right? Wrong?

They sent an obvious rookie to clean my hydronic gas heating system and he did an obvious half ads job and my system ain't been right since. Had to call aforementioned scheister plumbers to fix said hydronic system and low and behold, these experienced professionals couldn't figure out issues. I call astar and they have plausible deniability, they say we'll check out problem but $200 just to get them at the door.

Highway robbery! I would've answered the door in a towel if I have to pay that kind of money! Long story short, use GOOGLE, find out what the problem is, most likely you may be ab6to troubleshoot yourself or at least know what needs to get fixed before yo get bent over.

Recently called this plumber for a blocked sewer line for my elderly, widowed mother. While the plumber was very fast in coming out and was upfront that it would cost $310 just for the visit plus a wide range for the service, in the end we paid over $600 for an hour's work. It wasn't the plumber's fault that he could not fix the block, but if we had more time and were not desperate to have someone come out- we would have called for other quotes and would not have. hired this company. They are way too expensive.

I hired aster to replace my central air conditioner. Ever since I hired them I have problems. I have rattling in the air conditioner vents, and every tech that comes to my home doesn't know how to fix it. They come up with all kinds of excuses. They are very disrespectiful. They come into your home and do what ever they want. From the beginning when they first put in the air conditioner the techs thought I was a grocery store and wanted me to keep bottled water here for him.

Then he wanted me to move my car out of the garage because he didn't want to work in the sun. I told another tech not to go into a room and he kept on trying to get in. They broke my vent in the bathroom. The first tech that came to fix the rattling kicked a tv, and put grease on my clothes. Jeff showed up after that with his "best tech Ron" and told us that the screws were not tight. Jeff got annoyed that he paid for the tv and the clothes.

I had two more tech here and the first one did nothing, the second Harry came in with a attitude problem touching things he had no business touching, talking to me like I was stupid. When he left he slammed my front door which is glass. I called Jeff and let him know and he doesn't care. He said so he didn't break the glass, so what. I know why the employees have an attitude problem.

They learned from Jeff how to be disrespectiful. I still have the rattling sound. I spent a lot of money and it seems they don't want to fix the problem. Call someone else.

I wanted my dishwasher installed. Just a dishwasher installed. the woman started trying to sell me an annual contract, gave me this long schpiel about a service contract and was really doing the hard sell. I said I just want my dishwasher installed how much is that? She says it $245 or somewhere around there just to show up and then the install. I said how much is the install.

She says "well we don't know what your house is like, we can't tell you how much it is." There was a dishwasher there. the dishwasher was removed. The fittings were all there. No plumbing involved at all except hooking up the dishwasher. She said if I get the service contract (still pushing!) it would be $145 to show up and then the additional amount of the install. RIP OFF COMPANY WHO IS JUST TRYING TO SELL SERVICE CONTRACTS. I found a plumber who did it for $200. I can't stand these companies who try to take advantage of people. Will NEVER call them again.

They promote an overpriced plan for plumbers who came, stomped in the mud around the yard, and charged almost $250 to do nothing at all. The HVAC rep. never returned calls and no one answered my questions. They led me to believe there was a rebate for the system, then nothing. Disappointing at best. I only give 2 stars because the system installers did a great job and it's working well so far, plus most of the staff are very courteous and respectful (except for the rep who put his boots on the furniture).

Top Notch Service! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Technicians always respectful in my home; putting clean booties over their shoes upon entering my house as to make sure they do not track dirt everywhere. Sidney and Jeff are amazing! We call Astar for every plumbing, heating and cooling need.

We no longer live in New York, but I knew I wanted Edward Engle's help to design a supplementary heating system for our home in Maryland. Our house is 100+ years old, and had been retrofitted by an earlier owner with an inefficient and poorly designed heating system that left the ground floor almost unheated. On cold days, it could be 72 in the bedrooms and 54 in the kitchen and den! Unfortunately, the old system was too deeply embedded in the house to allow us to tear it out entirely. Ed designed a fabulous supplementary system for our ground floor.

The variable-speed Lennox furnace is 98% efficient and has plenty of capacity to expand to other parts of the house in the future. The system incorporates an AprilAire automatic humidifier with hot water feed, a pleated air filter, and a internet-connected thermostat. Placing the registers in the floor of our ground level (instead of in the walls) simplified the ductwork and reduced the cost considerably, and also delivers the heat where we need it most.

The performance is fantastic. Even on the coldest mornings, it can bring the ground floor to a comfortable and well-humidified 70 degrees in no time at all. It's completely changed the way we live in our home all winter!

Recently bought a new furnace from Astar, and had an excellent experience from start to finish. Aaron was very professional, considerate, and most importantly, knowledgeable about heating old houses like mine. The technicians were great, and my new unit works great. The price was reasonable. I highly recommend these guys!

Astar has been our company for over 15 years and I have always recommended them to anyone who wants skilled, reliable, conscientious service. I am happy to be able to share my review. They first serviced our old heating system for about 5 years, and they put in our airconditioning system over 8years ago; then they replaced our old inefficient heating system with an efficient system which now saves us 30-40%(exactly as promised).

They are skilled, knowledgeable professionals who are aware of the latest information about their industry. All of their technicians have performed both the servicing of existing systems and installations of new ones perfectly. We know when we call them, we are getting the best, most up-to-date servicing possible. The office staff is as professional as the technicians, and whenever we call, there is an immediate response, sometimes even from the owner when he listens to the messages.
