We've used Unique Indoor Comfort in Libertyville for years for our boiler and AC installation, maintenance and repairs. They're service is always performed perfessionally, promptly and with courtesy. This morning was no different. On a very cold night a pump on our boiler broke and we had no heat. We called and got a quick response. The pump was replaced and we had heat within a few hours from our initial call. We're very grateful to have a company like Unique to count on.

VERY EXPENSIVE SERVICE! THE RUDE ATTITUDE FROM MANAGEMENT! THE COMPANY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR WORK AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! Prices for parts are 10 times more than can be purchased online. My heat was broken down when it was around -7F outside. I found this company online based on reviews. The tech arrived and spent around one hour and the furnace began working.
He changed the capacitor and charged me $395. It was Saturday. In the evening, the furnace stopped working again. I called the company, but no one answered. They called back only on Monday when I had already found another company. I asked the manager to call me back. The manager never called me back. I called her myself. I asked her how to resolve the situation that your company arrived, did something, charged me for $395 and the furnace remained broken.
She was very rude during the conversation, raised her voice, and said that this was my problem, that they've done their job, and there can't even be a question of a refund of any amount. The worst customer experience in my life. I do not recommend this company to anyone! They are only interested in your money and nothing else. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I experienced a poorly installed furnace and also had problems with our A/C unit done by others. Replaced both and could not be happier with the installation and service. To have reliable heating and cooling during this time is extremely important to us. Don't need a "Failure" at the wrong time. Installation and costs seemed appropriate.

Kelly was very responsive, listened and responded quickly and sent a technician out same day as a non emergency. Head technician knowledgeable, took the time to explain things, competent and stayed at our home till 7pm to get the jobs done. We had our AC tuned up. The service man came at the scheduled time. He did a thorough job testing and cleaning our unit. He answered our questions to our satisfaction and gave us good advice as to the longevity of our old unit. We were given a detailed invoice as to what service was done. The charge for the tune-up was very reasonable and we will use Unique again.

Unique specializes in systems that go into older homes that do not have forced air A/C. They install and maintain these systems. When my 30 year old Unico system needed to be replaced, they did a thorough assessment, measured my rooms and discussed the options. When they installed the replacement system they corrected the problems with the older system and spent several days getting everything perfect.
They came every day at 8:30 and worked nonstop in my attic. Everyday they cleaned up, removed tarps and vacuumed. It took 4 days to install and it works perfectly. Unique was higher in cost but was worth it! I got a price from another company and they didn't measure, did no calculations and I had no confidence in them. Do it right and use Unique Indoor Comfort!

UPDATE - I filed with the BBB of Chicago and it took Unique 8 months to respond! Their response did not address my concern and basically dismissed my complaint. Again, I was looking only for a refund of the $184 additional service call charge. This company continues to impress me with their level of customer disservice.

I called Unique, the day after a three day weekend, when my A/C unit stopped working. They scheduled my appointment and got me in the next day. Jason, the technician arrived on time, and had a mask and gloves on. He clearly explained the problem, solution and cost. My A/C is now operational and I recommend Unique to others, especially over the one that rhymes with More Reasons!

New furnace and humidifier installed was not wired properly for 2 stage heating, (so my bills were huge during the artic blast, since it could not satisfy the thermostat), the thermostat was for a single state, not 2 stage system and the humidifier constantly ran water throughout it at voluminous speed. Came back out several times, attempting to convince me that no need for a 2 stage thermostat and finally needed the local rep to fix the problem I knew of all along.
Owner would not reply to my letter requesting service and a new thermostat. Only the remainder 10% of the balance is due, and she won't come back until I pay the $650. I've been calling for months with no answer. Lots of excuses!

Love these guys, won't use anyone else! My house is older and I really had no idea the state of the AC/furnace (other than being old) following purchase. Signed up for the yearly maintenance plan, and the two technicians who have been out have been awesome. Patient, willing to explain things and very clear in what they were doing/costs. Scheduling was easy, office staff are responsive too. Really happy I found Unique Indoor Comfort Libertyville!

My reviews mysteriously disappear for this business, so I will try for a third time. I was a loyal customer for twenty years. The first time I had to call for service was when the furnace went out in January. I was informed after the problem was fixed that it would not be covered ($1500) because I had not paid for the contract. Turns out that, due to a snafu in their new online billing system, they had not received payment.
I was never informed that there was a problem by email, mail or phone call. After many calls (most of which were ignored), Kelly finally agreed to cover me for the remainder of the year. She would give me no consideration after twenty years of paying for a contract and never needing coverage. When the AC guy came for the yearly inspection he told me that I needed a new compressor ($3500 to $5000, NOT covered in their "Platinum" service contract).
I had a neighbor who is a commercial AC tech look at it. He recharged the coolant ($200) and it runs great. He was very impressed with the unit as it is very simple, but high-end. He showed me where the Unique guy had loosened nuts on the hoses to allow the coolant to escape and also where he had disconnected the electrical hookup so that it would appear that the compressor was dead.
Now I'm suspicious that they cheated me on the furnace work, too, since my neighbor told me that the control panels rarely "burn out" as I was told happened. Now they are sending me phony past due bills, even though I have the emails outlining the agreement we had. I suppose they are trying to wreck my credit rating. BAD NEWS and a shameful way to treat a long time customer. Read the reviews under "no longer recommended" to see how others feel.

We had a string of AC/furnace issues right when we moved into a new home and didn't really have a go-to place to call yet. After a string of OK service, my parents recommended Unique to us. The tech they sent out took the time to show us what exactly was wrong (a blown motor capacitor) and the different failure modes to watch for. He left us knowing more than we did before and feeling confident that they value repeat customers (which, of course, we'll be).

I originally called them when my AC wasn't working. I had called 3 companies and they were willing to come out immediately to check the problem. We knew we needed a new furnace and were going to do it in October, but when we learned the AC wasn't working, we got a new furnace immediately. We got 3 estimates. Unique wan't the cheapest nor were they the most expensive.
I liked that the owner of the company came to give me the estimate. I liked that they were local and could service the furnace after. They also include 2 years of service. When they installed the furnace, the guys were amazing. Professional, neat, great with my dogs. Even after, they forgot to put part of the charge on my credit card until I reminded them! I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

My furnace did not seem to get to the set temperature. Due to the freezing weather, it was not comfortable inside. We called Unique and was impressed with their knowledge and experience. Scott came in and calibrated my furnace and asked me to use a different type of air filter. Now the furnace runs well and we finally got the room temperature we wanted. Thanks. Derek in lake county.

We have used Unique Comfort for years and also have purchased a new heater and air conditioner in the past five years. They are a trustworthy and customer oriented company with top notch employees. Our service technician, Robbie, is very knowledgeable and personable. He takes time to answer my questions and concerns. The scheduling lady is also courteous and they have always been prompt. I recommend this company for your a/c and heating needs.

My experience with unique was excellent! Scott came to my home for a second opinion after another guy (different company) told me I had a cracked heat exchange in the furnace. Scott came out for FREE and spent well over an hour taking apart the furnace and checking it extensively - all as a free second opinion!. He found no cracks and gave me tons of information which I always appreciate!
He was also really personable and explained everything so well. I also ended up hiring Unique to add some heat supply and return vents to our basement. Scott and Jeff arrived right on time (actually a couple minutes early) and finished in less time than they estimated AND under the estimated cost. I can not recommend this company enough!

I had such a bad experience with Unique that I had to write a review. I was a customer for over 40 years. Unique installed my Space Pack AC and serviced both my AC and my furnace during that period. I had maintenance agreements with Unique for both units for many years. For all those years I never had a serious problem with my equipment so I never got to see how Unique would respond to a serious problem.
But in April of this year my furnace stopped working and Unique was unable to fix it. Under the annual maintenance agreements I had with them, they had agreed to repair my equipment and supply all needed parts and labor (there was no mention of their agreement being dependent on easy availability of parts). They said that parts were no longer available from the manufacturer so they would look for parts from suppliers, but my impression was that they didn't look very hard.
They then told me that I had to buy a new furnace. Their estimate for a new furnace seemed high so I got some other estimates. Unique's estimate was 30% or more higher than the other estimates for the same or comparable equipment. I told them that their estimate was too high. Unique would not reduce their estimate so I told them that I would go with another company.
Unique had said that they would give me credit for the unused balance of my maintenance contract and for the cost of replacement parts if they had been available. I told them that they should send me a check for the amounts that they owed me under their maintenance agreement, but they refused to pay me anything. In effect, as one of their servicemen admitted, I had been paying Unique for many years for service they could not and would not provide. I was a loyal customer of Unique for over 40 years but I believe that they showed no loyalty to me and took unfair advantage of me.

I called because my AC unit was not not working. Carrie was extremely polite and helpful on the phone and said she would send a technician to get it resolved. Robbie arrived a few hours later. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue and installed a new capacitor. He was very professional and courteous but best of all, was able to restore AC to my house! I highly recommend Robbie and Unique!

So far so good! Called because my AC unit was not working. We had already had another company come out who didn't fix the problem so I was hesitant. They came out and diagnosed the problem and installed a new capacitor. He was confident about the solution but also said it if it didn't work, he would be sure to find a solution that did work. So far so good!

Have used Unique to install a space pack years ago. Every year I have a maintenence guy come to the house to check on things. All very nice guys. Very professional. This year we had Danny R. He was so amazing in the fact he was just a very professional guy and so nice to deal with. Not in a hurry and eager to make the experience a good one. I cant say enough about his service and the whole companies so far. Carrie on the phone is super nice. She is very pleaseant no matter what. Highly recommend these guys!

Another fantastic experience with Unique! I called the other day because my humidifier at my house was not working and from the moment Keri answered the phone the experience was awesome. She was friendly, polite, and was able to set the appointment around my crazy schedule which happened to be the next day. The next day she called me in the morning to remind me of my afternoon appointment and the day after that she called to follow up with me on how the service and experience was. Unique Indoor Comfort had the service contract on our older suburban home when we moved in two years ago, and Luis just stopped by today to complete our fall maintenance, pink booties and all (for breast cancer awareness month) As usual, we got our older furnace, 30-year-old AC, humidifier, and UV filtration units cleaned (thoroughly -- wire drill brushes on the burners), serviced, and tuned for the winter.
We directly attribute our old AC unit's continued operation to Unique, and it's a great asset for our home as it's one of the older freon units which do a great job of cooling but are no longer sold. And our home is toasty warm in the winter. Having done renovation work when we moved in, we had a ton of dust go through our system which eventually burned out our heating control unit. on Christmas Day! Unique came out immediately and repaired our unit, at a cost of over $2000 but completely covered under our service contract. Great company, has worked well for us.
