Ravinia Plumbing-Heating & Appliance Service

I expected to have a very good experience with Ravinia but I did not. We hired them to fix leaks under two bathroom sinks. They have now been here twice, have put in six hours, and still haven't finished the job. These must be the slowest plumbers in the universe. Worst of all, they gave us no time estimate at the beginning of the job so we had no idea how long they'd be with us.

A small thing but illustrative. The plumber threw some paper down one of our toilets. When a single flush did nothing to the paper, the plumber simply left the room without calling it to our attention. I walked into the bathroom 10 minutes later, saw there was unflushed paper in the bowl, and tried to flush it. The toilet immediately backed up, despite the fact that it had been working perfectly before the idiot plumber threw something in it. Their customer service is lousy, as well.

My first experience with Ravinia Plumbing was very positive. From start to finish it was excellent. Jason B. came to our home to repair a clogged bathroom drain. He started by explaining the process clearly and answered our questions in great detail. Jason B's work was professional, neat and clean. It was a pleasure to have him in our home Thank-You Jason B. great job!

Our landscaper thought he smelled gas on our patio. I called the NICOR and immediately someone came out and shut off the gas. NICOR said to call a plumber. I called RAVINIA having used them before.bad move. because there was a problem then too. A Ravinia person came out, looked at what had to be done, and gave me an estimate. The next morning 2 plumbers arrrived and began working.

After a day and a half I ended up with a bill 4 times over the estimate and an unsightly pipe along the outside wall of my patio that is now rusting. this is after a few months. The plumbers were nice and friendly but I believe the work was substandard. I certainly would never use Ravinia again.

Started using Ravinia because they had a history with our home. Have had 8 plumbers from Ravinia over to check on a plumbing backup that's been recurring since moving into my home for the past year. Each time, the plumber has a new theory on what's happening that's disproven by the info that the previous plumber gave. So in the end, there's no resolution. Ravinia seems to have no interest in actually finding the issue or fixing it, they're just happy to take your money. Management was also very aggressive and unhelpful. Will be looking for another plumber who actually is interested in fixing plumbing and helping customers.

Cesar assessed the situation and gave us repair and replacement options. He ordered the part and replaced the fan on AC. He was a pleasure to work with- clean and efficient. I'd definitely use him again. The AC has been humming away all week. Service: Repair HVAC

I called Ravinia Plumbing on a Wednesday, gave the make and model of my hot water heater. A repair person came out and looked at the water heater and properly assessed the problem. I was told that they didn't have the part in stock. I was given a choice of either waiting until next Tuesday for the repair or getting a new water heater. I gave the approval for the parts replacement.

I gave the repair person my credit card for the $69 service fee which would be applied to my final bill when the work was completed. Here is where things started to go south. The repair person told me that they would hold the fee because I authorized the work to be done until the work was completed. I discovered that the next day my card was charged.

On the following Tuesday, I called to find out when they were coming out to make the repair. The woman who answered the phone said that the part was on order and was expected to arrive that day, but the parts department was not answering and would call me back. I waited two hours and called again, this time I was told by someone else, the part had not yet arrived.

Two hours after that the original person I spoke with told me she had just heard from the parts department and the part had not yet arrived. At 3:20 p.m. I got a call from Ravinia that the part arrived and I could have it installed on Wednesday or the following Monday, not the Tuesday I was told. Although the work was professionally done, when I asked the repair person about the charge, he told me that he put it on the notes and is not responsible for what the billing department does.

I asked him about the fact that the work was not done on time and he told me he had no control over the parts/scheduling, although he was the one who stated I would have it done on Tuesday. Finally, I told him we probably wouldn't use Ravinia again, he stated, "Do what you want." All in all, there are many good plumbing businesses out there with better customer service.

I was very pleased with the work that was done. Ray walked me through everything as he was proceeding and did an excellent job. I am hoping to consolidate the companies I use for service down to a couple of reliable firms and Ravinia is certainly on that list. Service: Plumbing leak repair

Ravinia technicians were on time and courteous with my AC compressor replacement. They even looked at my other, second AC compressor that started acting up just before they arrived. Turns out is was a capacitor, which was still under warranty, and they replaced that too at no additional cost! (part was under warranty.) We buy a preventative maintenance program for both of our furnaces and AC units from Ravinia, and they always do a great job and treat us right.

Ravinia Plumbing has become my go-to for my plumbing needs. With the difficulty of getting a general contractor with the high demand environment I called Ravinia to re-configure the plumbing in a full bath-to-powder room conversion to get that potion of the project addressed. Jason took the extra time to explain exactly what he was doing and why, which puts the customer's mind at ease.

He even addressed several aesthetic questions which were very important to me. And my general contractor that came in to do the remaining work commended the plumbing because everything was buttoned up and ready for them to tackle.

This was a complicated repair and Jason did a fantastic job. He was organized, meticulous and thorough. He carefully explained what needed to be done and kept us updated throughout the repair process. He arrived on time and cleaned up when he was finished. Ravinia just installed a new A/C unit for my home. Jeff J. was very helpful in selecting the right unit and answering my questions. Rick & Danny arrived on time & ready to work in spite of the horrible weather. They were very professional, efficient and respectful of my home. The job went great! Thanks for the quick service!

Last year I got a couple of quotes on replacing 2 hot water tanks with a tankless hot water heater for my home. One of my old neighbors commented to me that she knew Ravinia did excellent work and said they wouldn't be the least expensive quote. I had them come out and provide a quote, applied for the financing, and had them install it in February 2021 during one of the worst snow storms that winter.

There were no surprises with my bill as it was for the total amount of the original quote. I had an add-on task to repair the cold water supply pipe of my laundry tub since the solder joint had a pin hole leak in it (wasn't even dripping). Again, meticulous work done in a very tight space since I have an old fashioned Duratub with a pulldown cabinet door.

This past week, I called them again as the sewer line for my kitchen sink started acting up again after 2.5 years of it being rodded out and a new clean out installed. I decided just to call Ravinia and have them look at it as this was not a new issue. This was a residual issue from the previous owner of the house. Once the technician figured out how everything was connected under the house, he did more than rod out the line.

He used a cutter to cut through the grease plug and break it up. Before he pulled the cutter out of the line, he verified with a camera from the external clean out on the other side that he got to the source of the blockage. I've used the dishwasher and washer since yesterday and there's no more water leaking out of the sewer connection anymore.

When he cut through the grease plug, I realized that the first company never really solved the sewer line issue with my kitchen sink. Thank you to Ravinia for getting things done right the first time!

Ravinia Plumbing and Heating can be described in one word: Predatory. My 94 yo mother had them clean the sewer line - 40 minutes + $600.00. That was years ago and she was told to NEVER use them again!. She forgot and called them again for a furnace not cycling due to faulty control board - 2 hour (30min of waiting for the part to show up). 1300$. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNSCRUPULOUS PREDATOR.

Thanks for the retort below but.but you still charged a 94 year old customer $757.47 to swap out an easily accessible control board ($348.41) held on by two screws. As for the $189 "appeasement" you supposedly offered me, you should clarify in your public comments that you told me that you "fired the office worker who has made too many mistakes and this was one of them". That is not an appeasement, it is an admission.

GREEDY SALES and SLOPPY WORK After install of new furnace, we found lots of tiny sharp screws left about on the floor outside furnace room and on driveway - risking flat tires & emergency room. 'Was quoted $125 for a replacement UV bulb on our Respircaire purifier. 'Bought it for $46 instead and shipped to me from a supply house in Tinley Park.

The Ravinia technician, Brian, was prompt, very professional, and knowledgable. He immediately assessed the problem with our hot water heater and fixed the issue immediately. The water pressure and the temperature are much better than before as a result of his work. From beginning to end, the job was meticulously well done and the area was left spotlessly clean. We very much appreciate the professionalism and the quality of the work that was done.

Ravinia sent a plumber as requested. He arrived on time and gave a thorough, professional report. However, the price estimate was considerably higher than the competition. Impression was that he was recommending items that were not really essential. The presentation though was not high pressure.

I have been a homeowner in Evanston for many many years, using local HVAC contractors. My wife and I were doing a bigger project and needed a second estimate. We've seen ads now and then for Ravinia. Wow- I encourage others to do the same. The technician (Rick) that came out was calm, relaxed, informative. He did not try to oversell me on other services.

I was given a few options on how to proceed and I picked what made sense and was affordable. Parts were delivered, and they went at the work right away. Very good customer service from the very beginning when I first made the appointment until the left the jobs site. I'll be calling them first from now on!

We hired Ravinia Plumbing for the first time. This was a complicated job that involved removing 2 water softeners from underneath a bathroom vanity, which took up the entire vanity space. The job had to be done in 2 appointments. Chris and Jon were very professional and knowledgeable. We were very happy with their work and would hire Ravinia again for any other plumbing job.

Used them for several years, but noticed their business practices change significantly since covid. They started to nickel and dime for every little thing. They told me that it would cost $69 to evaluate my air conditioner and sent me a much much higher bill without any repair work. In fact, he called me twice because I was not home to ask what is wrong because he couldn't figure it out and then eventually left after telling me to just replace the air conditioner.

He couldn't even tell why. He literally had no idea so he just told me to replace the whole thing. I also had servicing of hvac system performed by them annually and I noticed that they upcharged and added services without asking me. For example, they replaced by air filter for $120 in materials. I usually buy them for $30 at home depot.same type and brand.

When I asked them why they did not ask me, their response was that it needed to be changed and they don't bother to ask. In a nutshell, save your money and patience, and go with another company. These guys are hustling people out of their money.

Basement drain needed to be rodded. Came out, told us if we didn't use water for 24 hours they might be able to rod thru basement instead of upstairs which would save us $500! We waited, less than quoted! Terrific job!

I was hung up on for asking (on behalf of someone who is elderly) how to use/change a power of attorney on file (for financial matters), if a power of attorney is needed.

Ravinia's professional staff helped tremendously with sewer rodding issues. Where others had difficulty rodding the sewer in the past, Joe and Jason, did a super professional job. Joe was able to rod the sewer completely to the city line. Also, Thanks to Andy N. and Jimmy P. for their timely leadership in instructing the crew. Very courteous, polite, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend these men for any of your sewer/sanitation and water needs. Well done!

When you need them, you need them. Of course my ac decides to fail during our hottest and most humid days! I contacted Ravinia Plumbing early Wednesday morning via their website, got a call back within three hours and had a technician out the next day. He was at the house before he was supposed to be and took care of the problem. I couldn't be more grateful.

I didn't actually have service done by this company, but I was so privileged to have them leave a mess of packing material near my house and all over the street after servicing a nearby house. White styrofoam and cotton junk all over the place, which is now blowing onto my yard. Called the company and the person who answered asked if I was sure it was their truck that was responsible. Yes, guys, it was yours.

The mess was left on the street all around the back doors after you unloaded a bunch of materials, and there's no way your workers didn't see it. Might want to make sure you don't like your neighbors too much if you hire this company.

We've been battling an issue with our Air Conditioner for 2 summers now, even after getting a new unit installed. After going nowhere with the same guys for all this time, we called Ravinia. Nick came out, and it was immediately obvious he knows his stuff, backwards and forwards. He went through the list of possible issues, and spent a few hours here to weed out the problem.

It turned out to be an even more subtle issue than he previously thought (the last guys had taken some shortcuts on the previous install, leading to most of the air bypassing the cooling coils, along with a misconfigured blower) -- but he still nailed it, and fixed it on the spot. These guys are top notch -- I'll be a permanent customer for all my air conditioning, plumbing, and electric needs from here on out. Highly recommended!

We used Ravinia in the past and found them to be honest and fair, unfortunately, they have lost our business for good and I will tell everyone I know not to trust them. A leak was found during a home inspection after the sale of our home and we called Ravinia to fix it. The technician, Rich Williams, basically told us that we needed a whole new basin and new pipe and blah blah $767.18 later they would fix it for us.

We told them to get lost and cancelled their electrician who was coming to fix two outlets. We called ABC Plumbing, and they came out the next day a tightened a nut, ran the water for 10 minutes and there was no leak. The charge was $59.00. Here I thought the family run business would be honest and ABC would be the ones to screw us! How wrong I was. ABC will now get ALL of our business and I will be sure tell our current neighbors as well as our new neighbors! Hope it was worth it to you Ravinia.

This event occurred Saturday night May 22nd. We had a leak in the pipes of the main water line in our kitchen. I had separated the pipes, but was unable to loosen the 2" x 2' pipe. We are selling our house, and were having showings the next day, so it was urgent that we get the issue repaired. I shut off the water, and my wife called Ravinia.

She explained the situation to them, and we were informed it would cost $165 for them to come out, and if we chose to have them do the work there would be an additional charge. We agreed, and Ravinia sent out one of their people. When Jason arrived (the Ravinia plumber) I showed him the pipe issue in the cabinet of the kitchen. He told me that this was not an emergency, and he wouldn't do any work.

I explained that we have people seeing the house the next day, so it was an emergency to us. His response was, "Well it's not an emergency to me!". He let me know that all he would have done is shut off the leak, and then come back on Monday morning to do the real work. He called his dispatcher to let him know the circumstances. The first words out of his mouth were that this is not an emergency.

He painted the picture that there was no reason for him to be there. When Jason got off the phone he let me know that there was nothing he was going to do. I let him know that there was no way I was going to pay him since I wanted the work done that night but he was refusing to do so. He called his dispatcher again to let them know I was refusing to pay.

When he got off the phone he told me they record every call, and he'd let them handle it, in a way that was meant to intimidate me into paying. He then said, "Thank you for having me come out on a Saturday night" as he grabbed his things and left. The words were pure bitterness and sarcasm. We had used Ravinia for years, but will never do so again.

This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The amount of rudeness and disrespect had me doing a mental double take. I hope they fire Jason and develop a customer first attitude for the sake of others that may use them in the future, but I'd recommend looking for someone else instead.

I've (unfortunately) needed plumbing help twice in the past month -- first to replace two water heaters and then to rod out a backed-up sewer. But I'm glad I used Ravinia for the work. They were recommended by the company who did our home inspection a few years ago and in my experience have always been on time, done good work, and been up-front about their pricing, which was also reasonable in comparison with other plumbers I've used in the past. So, a solid recommendation from me.

Chris and Joe came over my house on Dato Ave (Highland Park) today to check out a sewer smell. I was extremely impressed by their knowledge, courtesy and professionalism. Best Ravinia techs I have had come over up to date. Thank you to both of you! Ravinia great job hiring these gentlemen.

We had a new furnace and AC installed and the gentlemen that came to our house could not have been more professional. They were courteous, knowledgeable and left our home clean and tidy. It was a two day job and at the end they walked us through the new system. Would highly recommend Ravinia Plumbing.

We had Jason of Ravinia come in today to build a slightly complicated bypass for a water softener. The picture below is a small example of the craftsmanship & professionalism of Ravinia Plumbing. Jason was on time, patient, kept the area clean, & explained to my wife and I the work he did and didn't do. Not only am I happy with the work, the price was fair and what I would expect for the work and materials. Ravinia is our go to from now on.

Decent responsiveness but sloppy clean up. After our new furnace installation, we're finding little sheet metal screws in our laundry room, basement and driveway. Such a careless work could send someone to the ER or the tire shop!

Jeff and Chris at Ravinia Plumbing were amazing! They were professional, informative and solved our plumbing issues quickly and correctly. We had a frozen pipe that they were able to bring back to working order and also fixed our shower fixture that wasn't properly installed when we bought the house. Jeff also helped us figure out where else we should have additional insulation installed around bathroom plumbing pipes and drains. I highly recommend using Ravinia Plumbing and will definitely call them again with any plumbing issues that arise in the future.

I had a great experience with Ravinia Plumbing from estimation to installation. I am impressed how the estimator had the whole installation figured out when he made an assessment of the site. The installation guys were great to work with. The electrician reviewed with me how they would install the outlet and the plumber let me know where he was at with the installation process any time I came down to the basement. It's not every day that you convert to a tankless water heater. I'm glad I hired Ravinia and would have no hesitation on recommending them to anyone else.

After all, they were recommended to me from an old neighbor! I also had them re-pipe the supply line to my laundry tub and washer that looks like it had a pinhole leak for years. They did an awesome job on it. Another plumber told me they'd have to cut all the drywall out and they would use a press method as opposed to an old fashioned blow torch. Glad I waited and had it done by Ravinia!

I have used Ravinia plumbing for all of our plumbing needs since moving into our new house and they have always been fantastic. Everyone who has worked on our place has been kind, professional, and just overall great. I have to give a particular shout-out to Phil. He was here recently and did an excellent job. He answered all of my questions, was very engaging, and did a great job. I haven't regret using Ravinia and I don't see that changing anytime soon!

We purchased a home and our inspector gave us a list of things that needed to be looked into/installed/repaired/replaced. We called Ravinia for plumbing, electrical and HVAC services. All three professionals were excellent. They arrived on time, were very competent, hard working, and equally important - They were honest and conscientious people who did not overcharge, and did not look for services that were not really needed.

In fact, one of the professionals said - your inspector was not correct. This is in good condition and does not need replacement. I mean. How refreshing is that?! After some bad experiences with other companies, honesty is very important to us. We highly recommend this company. We joined their Home Care Club, and we intend to use them as long as we live in the area.

I've used Ravinia Plumbing and Heating for years. They arrive on time, their employees are in uniform and respectful. They tell me the costs upfront and explain everything before they start work. I highly recommend these guys; they solve the problems and keep our house running at peak efficiency. They put in a new high efficiency furnace and my heating bills dropped by a third during the first winter!

Update 7/2/2020 Compliments to service technician Ray he was able to get my air conditioning going after several days of no air. Ray was professional and knows his stuff. Thanks again for the extraordinary service. I always try to stay ahead of the maintenance, being preventive is usually the formula to having heat and air conditioning on demand. While taking a look at one of our zones furnace I noticed a decaying vent pipe - this happens!

Time for my summer air conditioning check - I scheduled a service call and added the replacement of the vent in my request. Ravinia sent Marc Swanson, very qualified and he did an extraordinary job - even cleaned up after. Extraordinary- Ravinia isn't the least expensive but they always exceed my high expectations- I highly recommend them! If you know me I am frugal but never compromise on service and

I had an appointment today and they were over an hour late from a 3 hour service window. I called the Service Manager and he apologized and said it was not big deal.that Th way should be there within the hour. Very poor customer service. Would not recommend!

John Moran is my hero! After years of searching for a gas leak with various results, we finally hired Ravinia Plumbing to help solve the problem. We didn't want a highly recommended company who sends an inexperienced plumber, because we have had those guys already with zero results. We wanted an EXPERIENCED person who could figure it out on site (without calling back to the office looking for ideas from a supervisor.) John was that guy!

He opened three places and the third one was the charm. Thank you Ravinia, thank you Mike for sending us John and mostly, THANK YOU JOHN! (And, if that's not enough praise, they even deliver parts to the plumber on site so you don't lose your person for hours going to pick up parts from a far away warehouse!) Pleas look no further!
