Greg Comfort Advisor 2018 marked Greg's 49th year in the HVAC business. He started at age 16 as a part time sheet metal apprentice under his father. He attended Chicago public school system and has various HVAC certifications and designations. He has four daughters and three grandchildren. He enjoys working with people to help solve their comfort problems.

June 23, 2022 central AC service call; This is the 3rd year that we have had our condo unit serviced by Deljo. 1. Pre-appointment communication = excellent 2. Service Tech competence = very good 3. Fixed cost for a basic AC maintenance call ($137) = reasonable 4. Cost for refrigerant recharge, dye/sealer and labor ($1,140) = predatory! The refrigerant was $243 and the dye/sealer kit $524.

The exact same dye/sealant kit can be purchased for $50. I emailed my dissatisfaction only to receive a reply admitting that their charges are, in fact, high. This is mainly due to the quality of their work and the overhead they need to account for. BEWARE $$$ before hiring this Vendor!

Deljo replaced our 22 year old air conditioning unit yesterday- I highly recommend them. Our old system was having difficulty adequately cooling on hot days. We also had a long standing problem of very inadequate air distribution in our bedroom and in the home office. The entire team was very professional and knowledgeable and they did a great job. Brandon was extremely helpful in our initial consultation; and in reviewing our options.

The team that did the install (Marek and Kevin) were great- They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable-Marek and Kevin were also extremely polite, respectful, and clean. They reviewed in detail the problems with our previous install- and reviewed the significant work they did to replace the system and repair and readjust the duct work. The result was a night and day improvement- and we finally have cool air equally distributed through out the house. Hooray!

Deljo installed new HVAC system in our condo after we decided not to pour more $$$ in our old unit. We went with them because they had been super reliable and professional during previous service visits and it was the right choice. From sales to installation it was beyond professional. The team that did the installation was top notch and the process was super smooth. When they left it was like they had never been there. Highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Deljo. Last summer, they came out and repaired our aging AC unit, and got us through the end of summer. We met with Michael C in the spring and he helped us find a new unit that fit our needs. He was very kind and answered all our questions well. When we had the new Carrier installed, David R did a great job too. He was even careful enough that my plants survived the installation too : Deljo even sent us a box of cookies as a thank you, which is a nice touch. We appreciate the solid service from everyone we've worked with from Deljo and would certainly call on them again for any future needs.

Deljo was the second team company I got a quote from for my furnace replacement, and I'm so glad I did! Ryan was thorough and explained all my options when he did the inspection for a quote. Unlike the other company, Deljo gave me options from the top of the line to economy options, which I appreciate, without trying to oversell me on more than I needed. Wesly and Dave did a great job on the install.

There was some special fitting needed for a drainage pipe, and they took the time and care to come up with a solution that didn't require additional pieces or add cost. My new furnace is working great and so much quieter than the 25 year old beast I replaced!

We can always count Deljo for their amazing services. We've had the biannual maintenance services done for the last 5+ years through them, and we also got a new AC as well as the heating system through Deljo, and we are happy with everything they've done, both in terms of the actual installation/maintenance services but also customer service. Every single service person through Deljo has been incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable.

Our latest call to them was related to fixing our water heater, and Jordan and Chris not only fixed the water heater problem, they were happy to answer my husband's endless questions. Thank you Jordan and Chris, and all the other service persons from Deljo!

Have used this company in the past to install a furnace in a rental unit. Like last time, the quote we received was considerably lower than what we received from others (for a higher quality product). They were able to install on short notice. The installers arrived on time, worked efficiently, answered all the questions I had, and (as far as I can tell) installed everything correctly. Furnace has been running for a week and still no problems. Hopefully I won't need to call them again for a long time, but I definitely recommend Deljo for anyone who is looking for a new furnace.

Working with Deljo was a great experience. Not only was everyone I worked with professional, they also all took the time to explain what was wrong with my current boiler. They were very informative in walking me through the replacement options and on installation day ensured that the space was cleaned up and everything was fully functioning. Deljo was absolutely amazing to work with! Brandon was very responsive when we first reached out for a quote and then equally quick getting back to us when we urgently decided to replace our furnace and AC system. We had a brand new system installed and working great within 5 days. He even offered to be on-call as needed, knowing my husband and I were going out of town and nervous about leaving our pets at home with a new machine. I would use Deljo again in a second!

I own an Optima Horizon condo in downtown Evanston. I was very disappointed with the heating/AC company that I had been using for 16 years. I had done research and calling different companies who maintain and repair the special units in all Optima buildings. When the heat stopped working in the beginning of January during a below zero weekend, I knew who I was going to call first thing Monday morning---- Del-Jo.

They gave me an appointment that same day and said they would be there after 6 pm. The technician, Jordan, arrived at 4:30 pm. He had 10 years experience and checked the unit out and was able to jerryrig it to work until the part was in. Their prices are fair and have maintenance plans with discounts. I highly recommend this responsive, knowledgeable and custom friendly company.

Top ratings to Deljo and their installers Christian and Markus. My humidifier attached to my furnace died. Because it was a discontinued model, I needed them to create an expansion to my vent to allow for a standard size model. Christian and Markus arrived on time and quickly installed a transition adapter and the new Carrier humidifier. The work was very high quality with clean edges.

It blended in so well, it looked like the unit was always there. They also sealed the vent so none of the heating or cooling would escape at the furnace. Afterwards, they cleaned up and removed the old unit. Hats off for first quality installation and professional work. I highly recommend Deljo and will use them again if needed.

Do not hire these people. Absolutely devoid of decent morals. I've purchased three furnaces and three ac units from this company. I've given them thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of business. So i thought maybe they would be helpful if something we're to go wrong with one their products. Boy was I wrong. First it was 100 bucks just to come have a look it.

A little high for a service call but hey, they sold the product so they should be able to fix it with some efficiency. The guy tells me the motor is out. And it would cost $775.00 to replace it. That $775 is just for labor! The part is actually free because it's under warranty! So I ask how long will it take for you to install it? He says 1 hour! $775 for 1 hour of labor?! $775!

And here's the kicker! That initial $100 doesn't go towards the $775 if you unfortunate enough to fall for their scam! So it comes to around 1000 to install a free part that take about an hour! I'm convinced it's all just a scam to collect that initial $100. It's pretty obvious these guys are taking advantage of the cold weather. It's just absolutely lunacy.

I thought price gouging was illegal. I'll be sure to check with the better business bureau. This company is morally bankrupt. I'll never buy a product from them or use their service again. Unless my infant daughter needs emergency heart surgery. Maybe then I'll get some bang for my buck. At a hourly rate like that, they should no doubt be turning water into wine.

The Deljo team handled a not so great situation for me very well. Great customer service after hours- option to have someone come check out furnace that evening or the next morning. After discussion, determined next morning would make most sense. Deljo always provides regular updates via text when technicians are running late or on their way. Technician was able to determine furnace needed replaced and quickly assist me with scheduling an appointment to review options and order new furnace.

Comfort specialist reviewed options and highlighted benefits and features of options. We checked the weather and he made sure I had enough electric heaters to be comfortable until installation. Installation was quickly scheduled and technicians showed up promptly, handled installation. I was working during installation and the team members gave me a heads up before any excessive noise. They also followed up after installation to ensure all was fine. I'd recommend Deljo for your regular HVAC needs and new installations.

Good service, very professional. Overpriced by a couple of hundred dollars $$ for a routine service call. If they lowered their price to match the market, I would use them for all my service calls and recommend to others. Would use in a pinch if I can't get anyone else to come out when needed, otherwise can find same service for much lower price.

We are extremely pleased with our entire process from start to finish. Our journey began with their salesman / technician named Mike. He was knowledgeable and professional in diagnosing our need and provided three options for our next step. We opted to change our heating, humidifier and water tank system. The work provided was great. We did have a small hiccup with the water tank, but Deljo was quick to respond and sent their more experienced technician to identify the problem.

He was honest and upfront with their error and bottom line, everything works great. Everyone was fantastic. They cleaned up after each job, and were always willing to answer questions during the process. Thank you, Deljo!

Deljo was quick, responsive, and professional in earning my business to install a humidifier in my home. The installation yesterday went smoothly, though the recommended upgraded thermostat began malfunctioning soon after the installers left. My sales rep, Ryan, was my first point of contact and has taken every call, including today (on a Saturday).

He had the team dispatch Jordan who arrived within an hour. He was clear in his communication and followed his prescribed process to troubleshoot the erratic behavior. The thermostat was swiftly replaced and we are back in business on this cold winter day. Throughout this renovation I've learned that some things are simply bound to malfunction outside of ones control. Deljo has earned my trust by addressing the situation in a professional and punctual manner.

We've been clients of this family-owned business for years. They've installed HVAC and maintained it at two homes over that time. This month we had Juan and Markus put in a new furnace. They -- like all of the Deljo personnel - terrific: knowledgeable, friendly, punctual and tidy. And we've yet to meet any Deljo tech who dislikes dogs, which is a huge plus.

It was practically perfect experience: quick and easy appointment setup without typical long wait time. Brandon Clement sent IM a day before his appointment with his phone, email and IM, was on time for the appointment itself, very professional and knowledgeable, he was aware of previous repair visits and work in this house. He explained available options, their differences, made required measurements. The installation was pretty flawless, crew was on time, worked fast and efficiently. A rare case when 5 stars are undoubtedly and fully deserved.

Yes yes and yes! I know they aren't the cheapest option, but after dealing with some of those cheap outfits I gladly pay for Deljo's services. Deljo takes care of our boiler that heats a three unit property here in Chicago. From the the initial post purchase inspection, to regular maintenance, to an emergency no heat call (all three apartments had no heat in the middle of a major cold snap) Deljo has always taken care of me. Thank you to all of the technicians and office staff for always making myself and our tenants feel comfortable and always making sure we are in good hands!

We had a great overall experience with Deljo. We met with Mike who ran through the different options we had for servicing our furnace. We ended up deciding to get our furnace entirely replaced. The new furnace was installed a few weeks ago and everything went very smoothly. The crew that came was professional and explained everything they had done after finishing. I would highly recommend Deljo to anyone looking to service their HVAC system.

Overpriced, felt price gouged Tech came to do a furnace tune up and recommended a few repairs, one was for a capacitor. Quoted $200, which I assumed was a fair price (shame on me). It took 5 minutes to install and I looked up the same make/model of the part online and it costs less than $10. I then got quotes from other competitors and they were all less than $100 for the labor plus part repair.

The fix was made appropriately but was almost double the fair market price so recommend shopping around before committing to any repair from Deljo and this experience will influence who I do business with going forward

We have radiant heat flooring in our basement, in addition to HVAC in the rest of our home, so it's not an "essential" heating system. Something in the radiant heat boiler was making a loud whining noise and we had another company come out and were quoted about $16,000-$20,000 to replace the boiler and its water pump. True, the boiler is old and out of warranty.

But $20K? We called Deljo to get a second opinion. Their technician, Charlie, was awesome. He diagnosed the issue as solely the water pump, which he replaced within two hours. The final charge? $896. That's not to say we won't have to replace the boiler in the future, maybe even soon, but as I said, it's not our sole source of heat (though it does make the basement a nice, toasty and more livable part of the house in winter.) And it sure felt better to replace one small part (the other company quoted us $2000 for the water pump) than to spend all that money up front right now. We couldn't be more thrilled with Deljo!

Caveat Emptor! I agree with the other review ** from 12/1/21 from YELP reviewer David. V. The work they did adequately fixed my issue with my furnace. But they are extremely overpriced. Yes, get quotes elsewhere before having them do work. I also recently purchased a condo and the furnace was installed by Deljo. When something happened with the heat and it was in the teens the weekend before last, I was stuck in a bind and had very little recourse.

I was freezing! My heat would also not power on so I called Deljo and booked them for a house call the next day. They have a standard diagnosis fee of $109. My broken part was under warranty but labor also was not. For less than 30 minutes of work to replace the part, I was charged $691 for time and labor. The total visit time (diagnosis + part delivery + replacement) was just under 2 hours.

They performed an annual maintenance for the season and charged $137 just for that. So the charge for the visit totaled a WHOPPING $****937.00 ($109+$691+$137) = $937.00 DOLLARS! As they did the seasonal maintenance the tech said a wheel also needed cleaning and there would be an ADDITIONAL CHARGE of $536.00 DOLLARS. I was able to decline this recommendation.

If not the charges would have been way more. The $937.00 dollar figure is beyond unreasonable. It is VERY high if you average it over the two hours ($**468.50 per hour.) They ultimately fixed the issue - but YES! they are a predatory pricing furnace company and clearly overcharge those who are in a bind. I called the company last Friday 4 days after their visit to my home but got nowhere.

My last phone call today was screened and receptionist said the manager was away from his desk. He ended up calling back to detail the charges of the total amount-which information I already knew. There was no compensation or consideration by this company whatsoever. I was just the latest victim of their predatory price gouging. Would also recommend getting a second quote from someone else at the very least.

Will be using another HVAC Company myself going forward. There are several HVAC companies accredited on the Better Business Bureau website. It says online that Deljo is not. @David V. other Yelp reviewer of this company from 12/1/21, I became distraught when I accepted the fact that I had to kiss $1,000 dollars goodbye during the HOLIDAYS! Thank you so much David I felt better after I read YOUR review and realized we had almost an identical experience with this company. To everybody else, "Let the Buyer Be Aware!"

Not only was this company the one out of four that I called who could come out in a day without an abusive fee, but they arrived quickly, and my technician efficiently identified and solved the problem with my A/C. He was polite and explained everything to me candidly, and wore a mask the entire time. A very professional and positive experience. It is HOT out and I was expecting something to be seriously wrong and to have to sleep elsewhere tonight while waiting for a serious fix. Deljo was such a pleasure to work with and at such a reasonable price.

The crew at Deljo are awesome! They recently installed a Carrier air conditioner and furnace system at our condo. The entire staff from maintenance, to sales, to the installers were very knowledgeable and thoughtful individuals! I would highly recommend Deljo.

Tech tells me cleaning my unit was going to stop my furnace from shutting down. Quoted me $2,200. Blown away by the price but below zero temps so they take advantage knowing there's no choice. I asked if 100% sure that would fix my issue as I do not want to pay all that for nothing. I was told YES. after the cleaning I am told "well looks like the issue might be something else"! Tech tells me he will call his boss to see if he can reduce the cost since he was wrong.

Of course his greedy boss doesn't back up what his own tech guaranteed and says no. Here am below zero temps, $2,200 down the drain and freezing with kids in the house. It's disgusting how these clowns just steal by lying. Their justification was "well your unit was going to need the cleaning eventually anyway". I NEED HEAT NOW NOT WORRIED ABOUT EVENTUALLY! Update.

New HVAC company fixed my furnace today within 30 min. All I needed was a $90 dampener. My unit is working perfect now. Service I received yesterday was not needed and what I was told was untrue. my heat exchanger wasn't fully cleaned yesterday even though 1150 of the 2200 I paid was for that. I had it checked. The written recommendation to have my unit replaced I was told is ridiculous. My unit was built in 2018. All excuses given to me by Deljo were after they charged me 2200. Had they said it before their "guarantee" I would have declined service.

Professional sales process but highly overpriced. Knowledgeable sales people. Telephone people too very nice. My second experience with them. First time they paid a visit to quote a price for tankless floor radiant heating. Their proposal was around $2K over the second highest competitor and about 3K over the third one. We went with the second ones.

Another champ, again a professional knowledgable champ came and gave us three options to replace our furnace and ACs. Out of the 3 companies we talked to, they were the most expensive. We paid just under 20K for what i believe was their option that was over 27K. I always go for the best. I was not convinced they were the best, and certainly did not think they provided the value. Please beard in mind my feedback is only regarding the sales process and proposal not installation.

Del-no! Long story short, they misdiagnosed the problem & dealing with them was irregular and full of explanation after explanation. Deljo completely missed that a 240 volt wire had bared due to an unbalanced motor rubbing off insulation which then shorted to the blower housing. Deljo said it was the relay board gone bad. The detail: First, tried their "online scheduling" which I think goes to nowhere. Then, called them up days later and made an estimate appointment. Was quoted $109 for the estimate.

They arrived very late in the already wide time window. When they were done, the techs demanded $189 in payment (nearly 75% more than the quote) without an invoice on the spot, which made me quite uncomfortable in my home. I wasn't comfortable turning over a credit card to 2 guys standing in my home without any sort of invoice. Gave them a check and they left, saying they'd call back with estimate for the repair.

No call back for nearly 2 weeks. I called them and they eventually called back with an extremely high estimate with no breakdown of parts or labor cost, being more than a little pushy about getting going with the very expensive repair. When I asked for a breakdown of parts and labor, the price they quoted for the simple part was about 4X what I found after a simple online search, and they went into a very long explanation of why the labor costs were so high (along the lines of we have to pay for this, we have to pay for that, all of which sounded to me like they're running with way too high overhead which they try to pass on to their customers).

When I backed into their labor costs, they were charging nearly $400/hour, depending. Told them no way and moved on. I called another company who sent a good tech out and properly diagnosed the situation. Hope this review helps you in your search in finding a good hvac contractor.
