I'm giving two stars only because for years I never had a problem with this company. However, I recently had a zero-star experience. As a single woman, I want to protect others from being ripped off like I almost was. I had water on the floor around my furnace. The serviceman from Tom's Heating said my AC was freezing up and also leaking refrigerant. (It had been cooling my house just fine, so that seemed fishy.) He advised buying a brand-new AC unit costing $3500.
I called a different company for a second opinion, and that serviceman found a clogged fitting in the water line connected to my condensate pump. The water was backing up inside the furnace and then leaking out on the floor. He rinsed out the fitting and put it back. Voila, problem solved. He also replaced a dirty filter, which he said would have caused the first guy's refrigerant reading to be inaccurate.
He said my AC unit is working perfectly fine. I called Tom's to complain about the botched diagnosis, but they adamantly stood by the refrigerant leak theory. The inconvenient truth is-after their serviceman left, I still had water leaking all over the floor, plus an upcoming $3500 bill. After the other company's serviceman left, I had neither. I felt like the guy tried to take advantage of a single woman who wouldn't know any better. Based on things I learned from the second serviceman, the guy from Tom's was either dishonest, incompetent, or possibly both. I had been a loyal customer for almost 20 years, but they have lost my business moving forward.

Technician came out 2 hours after the given window to refill my AC, had everything hooked up and just about to fill it when he then asked me if I'd want a quote for a new system. I said no, just the fill. then the technician called his boss said I didn't want a qoute and technician was instructed to not fill, disconnect and still charge me for. coming out there.
I obviously objected to paying anything due to these slimy tactics at which point the boss said I had to pay on the spot, when asked, he wouldn't send a bill and said if I didn't pay, he would put a lien on my house for it.

Update: 12/09/2020 Finally needed to replace the furnace and without fail they continue to have excellent service and technicians. Tyler and Danny were incredibly professional and helpful in answering any questions I had. If more companies were run like Tom's Heating the world would be a better place. 2019: It was less than an hour from phone call to fix. We've had to call them three times now and each time they have outstanding service. Thanks Pete!

I could not be happier with the new air conditioning install that Tom's provided us. Our AC was old and basically dead, and Paul made a great recommendation for a new model. The team came out and performed the install and put in some additional venting in our basement. They were very friendly and cleaned up very thoroughly before they left (maybe even cleaner than when they arrived!) I asked about an upgraded thermostat and the tech brought one out and walked us through the set up process. Top notch service and a great group of guys to work with.

Scheduled a service repair job for our furnace. Kyle came out and quoted the job. We approved it over the phone and he told us he'd get back to us next week That was 6 weeks ago. When I called and spoke to the office manager she basically told me I was lying about the schedule and that I was supposed to call them. What a crock. I have many years as a service electrician and I know how to treat customers They apparently do not Would not recommend

I'd been using the same heating company for ten years and every winter our furnace broke down. Every year the old company replaced the same part; they could NEVER figure out why it broke down. In fact, they said the manufacturer might stop honoring the warranty because it broke so much. Which is insane. I changed companies. What a difference in using Tom's Heating Service! Tom's Heating has been wonderful. Prompt, good service, and smart.
They have done a great job on our furnace. I was so frustrated they could have sold me a new one but they never tried; they are also really honest. I am very relieved to have found a really good HVAC company.

Bought our home eight years ago and previous owner took out a 10 year all covered warranty which I was not aware of. Received a call from Tom telling me this and said the heat exchanger in our furnace model had a tendency to rust. The warranty was soon to expire and recommended replacing it as it was still covered under warranty with no cost to us. I am so thankful of his awareness and this goes way beyond expectations of a business. Thank you so much for your call.

Did not even get service done by this place and already would never use them! I look out my widow as see one of their technicians Matthew is taking his dirty rag with grease and getting it wet in my kids. swimming pool! I went outside and asked what he was doing and he said oh sorry I thought it was your neighbors pool! Does it matter who's pool it was?!
I called and spoke with Tom himself and he laughed and said I will slap him on the hand for you. This is what you get these days with the young kids right out of school. Wow!
