Here in the Pacific Northwest, we may not get the incredibly intense summer heat or punishing winter storms that they do in other parts of the country. This does not mean that we do not need great heating and cooling systems installed in our homes, though. While weather may not be "extreme" at any given time of the year, it can still be very uncomfortable if your residence is not outfitted with the right HVAC systems. Area Heating & Cooling, Inc. installs and services great heaters and air conditioners in Vancouver, WA and the surrounding areas, and has been doing so since 1975.

The gentleman that serviced our hvac system was extremely professional. My youngest daughter was fallowing him and trying to work with him. And he wasn't bothered a bit. He is definitely a family man who represents your company to the highest standard. I would definitely recommend this company and use them again. Also very decently priced.

Area Heating and Cooling did a fabulous job of installing a new furnace and air conditioner. I received emails prior to their arrival and each email was for a technician with their picture that would be working on the installation. The installation was scheduled for two days and only took one and half a day. They explained what they were going to do.
When finished they did a thorough clean up. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs new equipment installed. Additionally I signed up for preventive maintenace for the next 5 years so I will see their technicians every six months.

My husband & I were very happy with Area Heating & Cooling. Mike did our estimate. He was on time, professional & answered all our questions. We had our furnace replaced by one crew in January & and an AC unit installed by another crew in March. Both crews were timely, friendly, checked in during the process & made sure we were happy with the work. We will definitely recommend you guys in the future

The workers were knowledgeable and answered all of my questions plus more. They were kind and respectful of my home. They even left and came back because they forgot to double check that the furnace had turned back on and was working properly. They could have easily just left and not turned around. It was nice to see that they were thorough and committed to doing a good job. I would definitely use this company again for all my future needs.

Area Heating gave me a fair quote for a new furnace. They scheduled me for an install. They showed up on that date ad on time. I was text notified of the techs who would be arriving with a picture and names of those technicians. The techs were respectful of our home and answered any questions about our install. Our techs Shea and Robert made sure that our system was set up to get the rebates we were qualified for. Thank you for a pleasurable experience. Shawn and Cherie.

Robert and Shea installed our new heat pump and were great. They were polite, efficient, great with our dog and son, and gave us super helpful information on how the system works and how to improve function. Mike did our quote and was great too. I asked a ton of questions and he was extremely patient and knowledgeable. Service: Heating system installation

Scott was great. Knowledgeable, which is important to me, knowing they aren't fumbling around on a charge by time basis. Scott knew his stuff. He did a couple of little extras which went far to promote customer loyalty. When it comes time for furnace replacement or further maintenance, I will be calling Area Heating and Cooling! Thank you.

I highly recommend this contractor, the technician that showed up to work on our furnace was great. The repair was so minimal that he decided to do a cleaning and tune up for what amounted to the same price. He showed up on time and was very professional. You will not regret calling Area Heating & Cooling Services: Repair HVAC, Cleaning

This company recently installed a new furnace and A/C at our home. We had been told that we would get a $2,000 rebate from PUD. The people at Area Heating and Cooling filed papers for only $1,000 - they would not help me - it is what it is. I had to go to PUD, and they agreed that we qualified for the $2,000. They had to go back to AH&C and tell them to submit the correct amount.
How many people would go the trouble I did? Is this how AH&C makes additional money. This is not the first problem we have had with them since the start of insulation. Be careful of them.

Jim and Mason came out and installed a new heat pump and furnace for me. They were professional and friendly, and as far as I can tell, they did a great job. For this review, I am deducting a point for the lack of care and concern exhibited by their employee, Julie. As with many things during the pandemic, there are supply and delivery issues with HVAC equipment.
The equipment was ordered in October 2021, and I was given an estimated installation date of January 10th and 11th, assuming the equipment came in on time. I called the office on January 3rd to find out if the equipment would be received in time and if the 10th and the 11th would be the installation dates? I wanted to know this because I had taken vacation days for the 10th and the 11th, and if the equipment hadn't come in, I would plan to work instead. Julie told me there was no way for her to know if the equipment would be here in time.
As mentioned, I know there are supply and delivery issues right now, which is why it took almost 3 months for delivery from the order date. However, it is really hard to believe there is no way to track the order or to be able to confirm an installation date. The second issue I had occurred after the installation of the HVAC equipment, which, by the way, was installed on the 10th and 11th.
During the installation, someone shut off the sewer switch in my main breaker panel, and never turned it back on. By Friday night, my toilets and drains started to back up. My toilets would not flush! Of course these plumbing disasters happen on the weekend! I finally got someone out here on Tuesday, so went three days without being able to flush my toilets.
They found my STEP system that handles sewage was not operating at all. They asked to look at my breaker panel, and discovered a permit hanging on the breaker panel door. Inside, they found the sewer switch was in the off position. The issue was quickly corrected with a simple flip of a switch, and I ultimately did not have to pay anything out of pocket for this, thank goodness. Still, I thought it was important to let Area Heating & Cooling know what happened so they can advise their technicians to be mindful to make sure to leave things in proper working order at the end of a job.
When I called, I was forwarded to Julie, who quickly cut me off to tell me that their guys have nothing to do with the breaker panel. She told me they contract with a third party electric company, so if I had any issues, I needed to call them. I don't have any issues. My issues are resolved. I was simply wanting to let Area know what had happened.
If she cared about her customer's installation experience, she would have politely listened to me and apologized about what happened, and assured me that she would inform the parties who did my installation about what happened. I was left with the feeling that I would be happy to never have to speak with Julie again. She does not represent the company well at all.

Was quoted $3300 to replace a tvx valve on our heat pump. Did a little research and found they were grossly overcharging and trying to take advantage. Called 3 other companies, not one them charge over $1000 for this service. Had it fixed by another company for $650. Area heating and cooling are absolutely trying to profit off of peoples misfortune and hope you know no better. Beware of this company.

I'm sitting in a nice warm house today thanks to AREA heating and cooling. It's Dec. 27th and its only 24 degrees today and it's going to stay below 35 all week long. I awoke to a cold house this morning with no heat. I quickly called AREA at 8:30 and by 9:15 I had a repairman at my door. It didn't take long to find the problem and only a few minutes to fix it and change the filters.
By 9:45 I had heat again. Needless to say, I am very impressed with the service. The price was reasonable and I'm all cozy and warm during this cold snap. Thank you, Karen Fitzsimons

I had a wonderful experience with Area Heating and Cooling. My technician, Emmanuel, was very prompt and extremely knowledgeable. I received a call from Emmanuel 15 minutes before his arrival, and I also received a text message from Area Heating and Cooling to let me know that he would be on his way. He quickly diagnosed the problem, worked fast to get the problem resolved, and explained to me what he was fixing and why it was causing my issue. From this experience and from my interactions with everyone involved in the repair, I would highly recommend Area Heating and Cooling.

We contacted multiple companies to get our furnace serviced and Area Heating & Cooling was the easiest to communicate with and was able to get us an appointment in the time frame we were needing. From the service schedulers to the furnace servicing technician they were all friendly and professional. Would highly recommend and will be using them for our annual furnace servicing needs. Thanks again!

We had a variable speed TRANE AC, a variable speed furnace, and a two stage AC installed over the summer of 2021. We're really happy with the equipment itself; the home is much more comfortable even through the 100+ degree days we had over this summer and our energy bills are notably lower. There were numerous issues on the installation that AREA ultimately addressed and we came to an agreement on them standing behind the work for the expected life of the equipment.

Exceptional service. Technicians were prompt, professional and polite. Job site was cleaned impeccably. I asked the favor of cleaning one of my returns and the technician powered my shop-vac with his spare battery and did it for me, sparing me the hassle of getting a ladder, etc! I would highly recommend this company. From the initial consultation, to the bid, to the installation of a new furnace and heat pump, this team was outstanding!

We have used Area Heating for 3 installations of furnace & heat pumps over the 29 yrs. We have found the company to be reliable & professional each time. The most recent time was to install an air handler that was 29 yrs old. Luis & Josh were absolutely fantastic. It was over 90 degrees outside that day & they were working in our attic space the whole day.
They were always neat with all the materials that they brought into the house & kept everything picked up after they were done. They kept us informed on everything that they were doing so we were very happy. I would like to say thanks again to Luis & Josh for a GREAT JOB. Sincerely, Derril & Terri Larson

Our sales guy Joel presented great options and helped us pick the right Trane solution. He fully explained process, timeline and systems in low pressure environment. The installers, Steven and Robert were excellent, and a pleasure to work with. They were on time, neat, efficient and great communicators. The company has serviced our home for 20 years and always provide great service. Highly recommended!

Fantastic group. From the first contact on the phone right through to when they leave the house this company is customer service focused. I've had them out before and they were great. This time they ran me through a short checklist for me to do first to see if my problem could be fixed prior to sending someone out. It was something I hadn't considered and I was able to fix it. I can't recommend them highly enough!

When 11 out of the 32 total reviews on (more than 33% of all reviews) give a company a 1-star rating, you suspect that something is terribly wrong. That was my initial impression after they told me that the 10-year warranty on our 1.5 year old heat pump compressor had failed and that we were on the hook for a $2,000 out-of-pocket fix. The compressor on the Trane heat pump that they installed 17 months ago in our newly built home went tits-up on February 1st and they wanted to charge us $275 for the initial visit ($90 trip charge - the guy was 10 minutes away from our house - and $185/hour) PLUS $1,657 in labor (4 hours @ $185 and 7 pounds of refrigerant at $130/pound) to replace the compressor.
The compressor is covered under Trane's 10-year warranty and our 2-year home warranty on mechanical systems, but they told me that the labor and the refrigerant to replace the compressor on the piece of crap heat pump that they installed supposedly are not. I am a psychotherapist with a masters degree in clinical psychology and I have never charged anything near $185 per hour and neither do most professionals, even those with a PhD or MD.
How this company can justify a $90 charge just to come to your house, then charge $185 per hour for a technician who went to a tech school or served an apprenticeship is highway robbery. I have worked with plumbers, electricians, auto mechanics, and heating and cooling companies, and I have never seen an hourly rate anywhere near $100, much less $185.
After getting our builder involved and 10 days waiting for Area to coordinate with Trane to see if they would cover the labor and refrigerant, Area finally decided to do the right thing and cover the $1,703.00 fee for labor and refrigerant with Trane standing behind their 10-year parts warranty. I still think that a $90 trip charge and $185 per hour for labor are extremely excessive based on the fact that they probably pay their techs $40 per hour max, but at least they finally acted with integrity with a little help from our builder who uses them on all of their heating and cooling installs on new home builds. Lee Timmons, now our service provider for twenty years, gave our HVAC system its biennial tune-up. As always, Lee took care to ensure that both furnace and air conditioner were in operational modes. Our system, originally installed by Area in 1995 is beginning to show wear and tear from years of flawless operation, but Lee indicated that, with regular maintenance, there will not be any unpleasant surprises.
This past year, we contracted Area to provide twice yearly service on our furnace and air conditioner. Their maintenance agreement is a sound value. Best regards, Andy & Donna Gregg, Vancouver, WA

Wish I can get them -5 starts. Worst customer service ever. The service technician wasn't on time and never called me before I called to the service department. Also, Service department manager was very rude and blamed me ( she kept saying she didn't blame me, but she did) I asked them to cancel all the service, but they forced me to pay anyway. I got panic disorder again after I talked with the manager Cindy and will find a way to make official complaints to the business associates.

Added a heat pump with Area in 2015. (We were already ducted for one.) They sent a salesperson out to do a home energy analysis & consultation, made their recommendations and presented several options & offers (pricing.) We wound up using them and are very happy with our TRANE heat pump & electronic air filter. Reasonably priced; Zero-interest Installation financing via Wells Fargo was convenient.
Saving us quite a bit each month in energy bills and is essentially paying for itself. A bit of confusion over exactly which thermostat product due to miscommunication from sales person but we worked it out. Would use them again.

Area Heating & Cooling just REQUIRED we sign up for their super-duper PRE-PAID maintenance service although we've been using their company for over 20 years. Kimberly could have cared less that our family has been giving them our business and informed us they would no longer provide the same maintenance we've had unless we signed up. NO LOYALTY whatsoever. Kimberly made it clear that they had a new manager and that's just the way it's going to be from now on.
What a horrible attitude she exhibited. So this family will NEVER do business with this company again. And Kimberly, we have friends and family in the Vancouver area and we can assure you they aren't going to either. You should be ashamed.

Area Heating - no. Looking for suggestions to have this company fix a furnace? Purchased a new furnace from them and its under warranty. Now starting in October, we have nothing but problems. Emergency call/service calls. One problem after another - even on Christmas! Last night 32 degrees outside - no heat- parents at 89 years old! Do you think this company has attempted to fixed it yet? Nope.
They have ordered yet another part to "fix" the problem. No sleep and no heat - and maybe in a few days the part will come? The part may or may not fix it.they don't know? Anyone know a good lawyer?

I have been a customer of Area Heating since 1981 and cannot recommend them highly enough! I called this morning and said our heat wouldn't come on. They showed up this afternoon and 30 minutes later it was working, after replacing one part. Thanks to regular yearly service and quality parts and workmanship, our Trane furnace and heat pump are coming up on 27 years of service.
Every service tech I have ever had has been nothing but polite and efficient, including the young man today. The same goes for the schedulers. A great local company and I won't be going anywhere else when it is time to replace our unit.

Just had a new AC and furnace installed. Great service. Friendly and professional individuals. Everyone we had contact with. Special shout out to installers Scott and James. They were both very professional and engaging. They finished the job quicker than they had estimated. Very hard workers. Very impressed with installation and Clean-up afterwards. Highly recommend this company.

Talk about honesty. By phone I had setup to service a 2 zone furnace and 1 AC unit, but when Jason took a look he told us to not worry about servicing the downstairs furnace except every 3-5 years. He took a look around it, deemed it clean and moved on up to clean the main furnace. Final bill to me dropped by over a $100. He also took the time to answer my questions and showed me (in detail) how the system worked, as well as providing cost saving suggestions and a note about the winter-summer damper. Do you know what a winter-summer damper is? I didn't. Thank you Area Heating & Cooling. I'll see you in a couple years for a follow-up.

The service technicians are friendly and knowledgeable. But the prices are not. They work a flat rate repair charge that is predetermined for the techs. They bill out at the highest per hour rate of any other HVAC contractor I have used and refuse to breakdown the actual cost of parts and labor. This will be the last time I use Area HAC.

I had been a long-time customer. I had purchased 2 heat pump systems for two different homes. I had many service calls. In the past, they were a great company. but no more! In January (less than 2 months ago) I called Area Heating out for a service call because my system was icing up. I thought it may be low on freon. The system was just 12 years old and had been serviced regularly since purchasing it from Area Heating.
The tech could find no obvious problem. That was $180 (a little steep?) Last week (about 6 weeks after the January call), I noticed that the breaker was tripped to the heat pump and the house was being heated with the expensive electric heater. The breaker could have tripped a week ago or 6 weeks ago. I don't know. I called Area Heating and they came out yesterday.
The Tech said the compressor was shorted out and someone else would have to get back to me with a price. That was another $180. (very steep for not doing anything) 24 hours later, still nothing from Area Heating on a repair. I called and talked with Cindy, their service manager. I complained about the charges and lack of communication. Basically I was told tough and the charges stood.
They were unwilling to make any accomodation. Within hours, I had another HVAC company in my home. They quoted on a new system and I purchased it. It will be installed day after tomorrow. I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service and their unwillingness to credit back any of the charges on the second service call where they didn't do anything.
