W.A. Tolbard will handle all aspects of your gas fireplace installation. We do not use subcontractors. You can be assured that your installation and service is performed by the W.A. Tolbard employees that you have trusted for over 25 years. With hundreds of designs, styles and sizes, there's a gas fireplace for almost any home in North America.
Do not close off more than one supply register at a time, closing off more will restrict air flow too much for efficient operation. An electric heat pump is a mechanical system that has the ability to gather heat and move it from one location to another. In the summer when heat needs to be removed from a structure, the electric heat pump compressor circulates a refrigerant which absorbs heat from air inside the structure and releases it outside. The summer operation of an electric heat pump is similar to that of a standard air conditioner.

We were thoroughly satisfied with our experience with Tolbard's. From the initial consultation with Taylor to the actual installation by Angela, everything went spectacularly. Taylor explained all the options and price points that were available along with practical applications. Angela did an excellent job of installation and explained everything about our new gas log set including how to use the remote.

We were shopping for replacement gas logs and visited their showroom. Taylor provided extremely professional, helpful and friendly customer service. She spent alot of time with us going over all options. Installation was promptly scheduled and the Installer, Dave, was efficient, cleaned up his work space after installation and explained how to operate remote, etc. I would not hesitate to highly recommend W.A. Tolbard to anyone.

My experience with Tolbard was top notch from beginning to end. The person who answered the phone was friendly and very helpful and quickly scheduled an appointment. I was called the day before to remind me of the time. Angela was right on time and explained everything she was going to do. She showed me exactly how everything on my fireplace unit worked and cleaned and inspected it thoroughly. All costs were explained up front. I will definitely be using Tolbard for the bi-annual cleaning of my fireplace!

Imagine buying a house in a town where you don't know anyone, while working out of the country in Japan, only to find out there hasn't been heat working for 5 days during below freezing weather. W.A. Tolbard responded and absolutely went above and beyond to take care of us. Amanda and Lisa were particularly fantastic. The W.A. Tolbard team was quick and attentive, even with a 14 hour time zone difference.
They took the time to explain detailed issues with the furnace. They also seemed to prioritize getting parts from outside warehouses. Never felt like I was 'just another service call' for them. Also appreciated the tech checking on my copper plumbing to ensure there pipes were not damaged. Great experience.

Angela was my technician and did a wonderful job. She texted before arrival, came within the 2-hour window, and diagnosing the problem quickly. She had a part in the truck and was able to make the fix. She cleaned and inspected the fireplace and it's working well again. I have always been able to trust the service from Tolbard.

My technician was 40 minutes early (received a call from Tolbard's asking if that was okay). I was happy to have the service earlier than scheduled. The tech was friendly and engaging. I detailed a particular issue I was experiencing and the tech began work on servicing my fireplace. He removed the fan that was the source of a rattling sound, cleaned it out well and reinstalled.
All parts of the fireplace itself (fake wood logs, etc) were removed and cleaned. Upon reinstallation of the fan and buttoning everything back up he was ready to go in a little over an hour. I paid $245 ($205 inspection & $40 for level one cleaning). Generally speaking I felt the value was okay given the scope of the cleaning and extra attention to the fan creating the rattling noise.
The exterior of the fireplace looked good with the glass being crystal clear. I happened to check the fan about a half hour later as it hadn't yet turned off and discovered the bottom area (below the fireplace box) had only been partially vacuumed; I attached the pictures. Given that the inspection cost so much and the cleaning wasn't spectacular - I'll do the work myself next year and save my money.
As for now, I'll run the vacuum hose under the fireplace to clean out the dust and hair and call it a day. My tech was very knowledgeable and personable but given my experience for what I paid, I won't likely use Tolbard's again unless something that I can't fix is broken.

Once again, I cannot believe the incredible service I've received from Tolbard. Every time I call, they go well above and beyond even my highest expectations of caring and customer service. I recently had a noise in my furnace which I thought was related to the fan. The unit was about to come out of its 10-year warranty for parts and service within a week, so I was motivated to have the problem resolved. Tolbard's service technician arrived on time to investigate the issue but could not find the noise. Unfortunately, I was out of town for this service call and wasn't sure if the tech was able to replicate the condition for the noisy operation.
Since my warranty was expiring in a few days, I was very motivated to make absolutely sure there wasn't an issue with my furnace. I called Tolbard and Amanda was just as motivated as me to make sure my unit was serviced while under warranty. She was able to accommodate my tight schedule and had the tech out again in a few days. As always, the service tech was right on time.
The noise had stopped, but he once again patiently went through the entire system to make sure all was in order. As it turns out, the furnace was fine. That odd noise had mysteriously disappeared while I was out of town and before the tech arrived for his first visit. And, that noise has not returned. If I ever have any issues with my AC unit again, a call to Tolbard will be the first and only one I make.
Everyone there is honest, their prices are incredibly reasonable, and I am always pleased with the way the whole Tolbard team consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service.

I did a web search looking for someone to service my propane fireplace which was having issues. I had see Tolbard trucks here and there around town, but I was not familiar with what they did. Anyways, I sent a request through their website and held my breath wondering how many hours or days it would take to hear back from them. Low and behold, I got a call back the next morning and an email.
The staff was great on the phone answering my questions. I also got a 2 hour window date of service, which is pretty normal for this line of work. I also got a follow up call the morning of to confirm, which was pretty cool.so as to not waste my time. The service technician showed up and fixed my furnace in no time flat. Everything works just great. Was it expensive?
It was around $200.and my guess is it only took 30 min or less. However, I've had problems with this stupid furnace for 4+ years.it works now and then. He figured out the tiny issue and fixed it and I'm pleased! The service fee was a little steep just to show up for local service.but I doubt I will need Tolbard often. So I paid the fee. All in all, very happy with the service.

We bought an a/c unit and had it installed in our house ten years ago. Tolbard has serviced our unit for over ten years. We bought the service contract after our ten year warranty expired. This company has always been prompt and has given us excellent customer service. Something wasn't right on the a/c last night (a minor part needed replaced) they were at our house within 3 ours of my phone call and it has been 99 degrees the past couple days.
I can't tell you how thankful I am. Plus there was no charge as part was under warranty. I highly recommend and would have them install an a/c unit in our house again if I had to do it all over again.

I bought from and had Tolbards install a gas fireplace in my basement remodel several years ago. The blower unit is no longer working and I was quoted a price of $275.00 for the part and another $165.00 for the install. An internet search shows the fan blower kit priced at $128.00-no tax, free shipping. Not counting the MD sales tax and time and gas to go to Frederick there is a savings of $148.00.
Not surprisingly, Tolbards will not install the part if it was not purchased at their store (at a $148.00 markup, even though it is the exact part they sell). Consumers BEWARE. Don't get ripped off.

I've had 2 experiences with this company. One was great and one was really frustrating. I would consider 3 stars but I would not call it "A-OK" which is what Yelp defines as 3 stars. Perhaps 2.5 stars. The GOOD experience: My A/C coils were rotting and the entire unit needed replaced. A guy came out to evaluate the system and take measurements for an estimate and was very courteous and professional.
They were very timely in sending me the estimate. The workers that came out for the installation were professional, friendly, and efficient. The gentleman that runs the front desk at the office was very friendly and helpful. ------ The BAD experience: During the replacement of the A/C, I was told I had cracks in the heat exchanger portion of the furnace and probably needed a new furnace. It's been like pulling teeth to get any information from them regarding that.
I was supposed to get an estimate for the furnace replacement and 2 weeks later did not get anything. I had to call them. I wanted an estimate for both entire furnace replacement as well as just for heat exchanger replacement. They finally sent me an estimate for the entire furnace replacement and told me that they don't recommend doing just the heat exchanger.
But that if i wanted to, I could email them back and request that anyways. So I did. 1 month later still nothing. I understand now why they made the recommendation but I feel like since I didn't want to fork over the money for a new furnace without a question, they aren't going to be helpful. So I'm headed now to a local competitor and will probably get a new furnace from them.
