The Good: They're 24/7. I called them at 10:14 PM, someone was at my house by 10:45 PM. The technician (Scott) was wonderful. Not only did he take care of the issue (which was simply a capacitor), but he also took some time to educate me on how the system functions. I'm a software engineer, so I'm just curious and nosey by definition. Also, I expected outrageous costs for an emergency visit, but the price was really fair.
It was actually cheaper than my normal HVAC company who charge quite a bit more on the weekends. Actually, this emergency visit (just the visit, not the parts) was only $30 more than a WEEKDAY visit from my usual company. Unreal. The Bad: Capacitors are not expensive. If you look around the web, they're usually no more than $25-40 bucks (the one for my unit would have been about $17).
Believe me, if I'd had the option to buy my own (no where was open at the time I needed it, and I had already diagnosed it was the capacitor before the tech had arrived), I would have done that in a heart beat. They charged me $170 for one. That is *insane* markup. I understand they have to make money, but I'd already had the unit disassembled, and the bad capacitor free.
It took the technician 2 minutes to swap it, and place it back in it's harness. If it wasn't for my house being 80+ degrees and my dogs becoming panting machines, I would have just held out, paid for one in the morning, and been done with it. $170 for a $30 (on average) part. well, it's a rip-off. No other way to say it. Overall, the price doesn't matter.
They made sure my dogs slept comfortably, and that's worth it to me. However, I will be buying a few capacitors just to keep on-hand should this happen again. It's a super easy process, and only takes a few minutes. So, knowing what I know now, would I use them again? Well, that's hard to say. They're obviously very good at what they do, and you really can't beat 24/7 service.
As stated, my technician was fantastic. But, if the markup on a capacitor is already that bad, it scares me to think of what the markup on more expensive parts would be. I guess it would depend on the situation. Night time, nowhere open, and the middle of a North Carolina summer? Yup. I'm calling them. During the week, regular business hours with companies who charge more down-to-earth rates for parts? I'd probably go with someone else.

Are electrical and HVAC work is certainly professional and I appreciate what they've done. However, I've waited over a month for my condenser unit to arrive and when I ask them when it is supposed to arrive they just say they don't know. They also will not just try to do as much of your work as possible and get it done They do it little bits at a time and stretch it out to an unproductive point and still haven't finished other work at my house not including the condenser over the past few months.

I've had Southeastern Heating Air-conditioning install my Heat pump 9 years ago. I recently purchased a Mini Split system and they did this install. They are very professional, on time and fair priced. Scott and Ray did a great job and I'm 100 percent satisfied. I highly recommend using them. They are true professional technicians and a company that stands behind their work.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. When they initially came to install the mini split they ran the lines crooked down the side of the building and it looked so bad my HOA even sent me a letter. When I saw it I called them and they had to send another team out to redo all of the work. Also when they attached the unit the the ceiling above they had ripped down a bunch of debri and left it for me to clean up.
Then they told me it was done and that they would be back after I drywalled in my condo. So I drywall in my unit and get them to come back out. They go to pressurize the line (which should of been pressure tested before the drywall was installed) and the system is leaking. They had to cut four large holes in my ceiling in order to find the leak. After talking with one of the workers he explained the reason for the leak was because the employee who was working on it before was lazy and used a line connector instead of soldering It like he should of.
They finally got the unit working and the next day I come in and the floor is soaked. They came back out and the reason for the water everywhere was condensation where they hadn't insulated the line all the way to the unit. Another big issue is it was supposed to be a flush mounted unit but there is a half inch gap all the way around because they couldn't figure it out.
I told them it was fine because I was just happy to get them out of my condo. Furthermore a 149 dollar dewalt battery went missing while there employees where the only ones in my home. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST.

Our AC went out and we called Southeastern after numerous attempt to contact our regular repairman. That day, Charles (service manager) came out and repaired our air conditioner and he was very nice and knowledgeable. Charles informed us of every step he was taking to get us back to cool air, and he did within an hour! Thank you Charles from Southeastern Heating & Air, you have a loyal customer in us!
