Services
The first thing you'll notice about our company is that we care. We've been family owned and operated since 1922, when the Rumore family first began servicing our lower Fairfield County friends and neighbors. Today, the fourth generation of the Rumore family, Roy and Joe, carry on the tradition of providing excellent value while serving each and every customer with honesty and integrity.
In order to uphold our mission statement, we feel it is important to keep your heating equipment efficiently maintained so that it functions at its peak performance, as designed by the manufacturer, for many years. Our licensed and trained service personnel are continually educated on the latest technological advancements in the heating and cooling industry.
The Reliable Oil & Heat Company that is operating today is very different from the one that began in 1922. Frank Rumore, grandfather to Roy and Joe, who are the current owners, began his business as The Stamford Coal and Supply Co., delivering coal to heat the private homes of his friends and neighbors.
Our Connecticut friends and neighbors know they can count on us for value-added services that our competitors simply don't offer. But what truly sets us apart from the rest is our warm, personal service and attention to detail - not to mention our knowledgeable, professional team who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

Our heating went out this morning, within 30 minutes of my phone call, Reliable sent over a gentlemen that has been doing work for 43 years, quickly diagnosed the problem, and proceeded to take apart the system and clean and triage the issue and fix it with very little hassle. I was very impressed with his understanding of the system and be able to diagnose the problem and within 40 minutes to clean, fix, and safely put everythign back and quickly explain to me the issue

NOT so "Reliable"! Back in mid-November I was calling local oil companies to schedule a tune-up for my oil burner. I contacted "reliable" oil, was transferred to the service department and was informed by the service scheduler that they were very busy and It would be towards the end of December that they would be able to come out. I was also provided an approximate cost.
I accepted the time-frame and the approximate cost and requested that if they had any cancellations to please give me a call and I could even leave work to let them in to perform the tune-up. I provided my contact information and patently waited for a call for the service appointment. As the end of December was approaching, I called them and was told by the service scheduler that they could NOT perform the service I had scheduled and that the service manager has stopped taking service appointments.
I urged the fact that I had called well over a month ago and had been told I would be scheduled. I was told that there was nothing that she could do. I asked to speak with the service manager, he was not in the office and I was told he would be back in the next day. I asked for his name so I could contact him the next day and I was told that I would NOT be provided a name and when I called back in that she would transfer me to him.
I called the next day and when asking for the service manager was given two names (by the receptionist) they were both out, I picked one and was transferred to his voicemail. I left a voicemail pertaining to the situation and my dissatisfaction and requested a call back. I have yet to hear back and when I called again the following week, he was again out of the office.
Now in the dead of the winter I have to try and find a service company that will come out. The common courtesy of a call from "reliable" to say that I was taken off their schedule should have been the first to help remedy this situation. The second would be the ability to fit me in to their schedule. And at least the decency of a call back from the service "MANAGER" would be expected. To anyone who uses or thinks about using "reliable" oil, I would strongly recommend not to RELY on THEM!
