My family has been using Rymes since 1974, back when they were on Waverly Street here in Antrim. They have gotten too big and customer service has gone by the wayside. Long wait times on hold, difficulty getting answers when with a human. Emailing gets no results whatsoever. It shouldn't be a hair pulling experience just to get a fixed price estimate. Very frustrating.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have had the worst experience with this company. They charged me for gas over a year after moving out of a rental property, even though I asked them to close my account. I've spent months trying to get a refund for wrongly charging me. Finally they decide to send me a check refund and they send it to that same property that I haven't lived in for over a year.
They never bothered to tell me about that check or ask for my current address. So I call them and they say that they can't send a new check unless they receive that one back and that it would be better for me to try and hunt it down with usps. So I do that, get the check, cash it, and the check bounces. And my bank charges me a fee for it bouncing.
I spend more time on hold with rymes to tell them this and they say that they put a stop payment on this check and had planned to send me a new one. Which they failed to communicate. It's actually quite the opposite of what they told me they were going to do. Now I am waiting for this new check because it still hasn't been sent. Needless to say, there is VERY poor communication from this branch and VERY poor admin skills. I'm not to type to leave bad reviews, but I had to after this.

I don't usually make it a point of posting bad reviews, but I'm very disappointed with how Rymes has changed over the years, and want to help others avoid what I experienced. I've been a customer for 5 years now, just recently they changed their group pricing plan to only be from June to April, and they've always made scheduled deliveries in December, February, and May.
This puts them in a position where they can charge the current market price per gallon when they deliver in May instead of the contracted price. I was planning to have a surplus in my account at the end of last season, but instead I was in a position where I needed to pay since the delivery was double what it would have been if delivered when under contract. With the state of the world right now every penny counts, and this added cost certainly hurt. Very disappointed.

Very disappointed with this company. After years of being with them I would NEVER suggest ANYONE use them. Every year they have ALWAYS made sure my tank was filled for the summer and my allotted oil was used. This year they did not. They left me with 109 gallons to be used but never filled my tank before the contract date was up. I've never had to do that in the past. NEVER.

Rymes has spiraled into the worst service provider we have ever worked with. In the middle of winter with temperatures hovering at -25 degrees, their answer to us when we asked them to fill our tank:"call us when you run out". Went to Dead River and got service within the hour. Also try to call them and most probably you will end up waiting at least 45 minutes. We would never work with them again

I would give them 00000 stars. I have been waiting for the District Manager to get back to me. I am getting the runaround. Ever since their technician came to my home and clean my furnace the system has not worked properly. To the point my neighbors called the fire dept because there was black smoke coming out of my house. Now Rymes is saying that it's because of the blower which for 5 years has NEVER BEEN a problem. Rymes needs to FIX this problem.

They do what they want when it come to the budget plan. they breached my contract and made it my problem and explained what they wanted to say. THEY DO NOT COMMUNICATE ANY THING! they gave me oil under a current contract and then went ahead and credited me on the new contract. The thing is I am out of oil and they took 139 gallons from me and said it is better for me. Please do your research and make sure you stay on top of your deals before they do what THEY want.

Rymes is by far the worst company for propane and oil I have ever dealt with. From their high prices to poor customer service and half hour wait times on the phone. I finally switched to a different company for my propane needs. The persons I talked to to tell them to pick up my tank said. They would come out pick up my tank and refund me for everything in it and that was it. 3 weeks later they picked up the tank and no receipt.
After a few weeks of hearing nothing I called them spent another half hour on the phone. For them to tell me I wasn't being refunded because there was a "tank pick up fee". That so happens to be the same amount as the propane valve. This company has been terrible to deal with. Take your needs to a smaller company that actually cares about their customers.

Rymes is the worst company for standing behind their work. I used them in 2018 for a new power vent and furnace at a cost of over $7000.00. In 2019 I had the furnace serviced by Rymes.all was supposedly good with no mention of incorrect wiring. I recently changed my service company and was told the power vent wiring was installed incorrectly and it was suggested that I call the installer to advise and ask if they would stand behind the initial work. Today, Rymes service manager stated that because I am no longer their customer, I have to find someone else to check the work. The current service company manager told me the cost for them to repair and correctly wire would be anywhere from $700 to $1500. My next recourse is a report to the BBB.

They are over priced and don't answer their phones half the time. I actually had one of their customer service reps tell me if I wanted to pay more money, I could pay to take someone else's oil delivery. The other half of the time their reps are short and rude. 3/23/22 - I called again today for oil. Someone actually answered the phone, but her customer service skills were awful, she wouldn't explain why there is a balance on my account when I pay in cash and the delivery was from Dec of 2021 that she claimed wasn't paid.
Then she proceeded to talk as quickly as possible to get me off the phone and said she was going to just have to put the delivery ticket in and see what happens. She refused to give me a day of delivery and said just sometime in the next week. They are truly awful.

1. They keep you on hold forever when you call. 2. Their customer service agents are not educated about pricing and payment. 3. They want free and open access to your home to complete a service call. They want you to leave your doors unlocked so that they can enter whenever they want to. And they don't want you to be there when they show up. 4.
They claim that their Concord office is open for business, but the doors are locked and despite the fact that they say that they will speak with you outside on the sidewalk, I waited in my car for at least 15 minutes and nobody exited the building. 5. If you stop auto-delivery service with them, they will show up at your house the next day and fill your tank one last time. Gotcha! 6.
They implemented new service fees in October, and despite the fact that they claim they notified their customers, I never received notification. 7. They charged me a NSF fee because they tried to take more money out of my bank account than what was due them. I funded my account with the amount that their system calculated as the amount due. Then they tried to tell me that the additional fee that they attempted to collect was for an online transaction fee. Coded as a Hazmat fee? To my point about customer service agents who are not educated about pricing and payment. Then they charged me interest on the NSF fee.

Do anything to stay away from this Company! They had my heat assistance guaranteed by the State, due to be paid within weeks, yet, took me off automatic delivery, let my tank go empty, refused to fill it in Winter, in the White Mountains, unless I paid cash! When I paid the $400, plus a priming fee, the Rymes worker, who was dirty and in a nasty mood, refused to try for more than 2 min to light my hot water heater!
He left, saying the heater was no good. It was lit by the Landlord, without a problem. Once they got my heat assistance money, they jammed propane in my tank every chance they got- I got 3 small deliveries in a month, as they tried to squeeze in as much as their greedy little paws could fit! When I went to move out, it was a huge ordeal to stop my service!
I was first told they couldnt remove my name from acct, until someone else moved in! I was on hold forever, finally, they switched me to a very cranky and terse " supervisor", who snotily agreed to end my service. A 2 year BAD EXPERIENCE! Use another propane company!

It is VERY frustrating to try to talk to someone live about a contract, order oil or question your account. You get placed on hold for long extended amounts of time and sometimes even get disconnected. I still haven't "talked" with anyone after many tries. I had to resort to many emails to customer service and they still didn't call me. I will change companies next year!

First, they don't answer the phone, second order oil at one price then change another after delivery. Then their prices are highest around even with 20 percent discount. Now they're charging $11.62 hazard impact fee automatically. My last issue is it took them three weeks to deliver oil! The company has lost their way and I have been with them over ten years!

THE WORST PROPANE COMPANY! I've worked with a few propane companies over my lifetime but Rymes is an absolute EMBARRASSMENT. They let my house run out of propane during a Nor'easter with a family with a newborn and a 2 year old with no heat or hot water. And after several attempts to establish two accounts for two homes, they cannot get the billing straight.
It can take an hour or more on hold to get someone on the phone - if they answer at all. It's like they aren't even trying and don't give a sh*t. Get your propane from ANYONE else. Nobody could possibly be worse than Rymes.

Been with rymes for 8 years, never had issues. Furnace stopped working the day after Christmas. Guy came out for $185/hr and said the inducer was bad and would take 4-7 days to come in. 7 days went by with no news. I called and they said it's actually 3 parts, to include the heat exchanger totalling just over $1700. Oh and there's a 4-6 week wait.
I said I can't go without heat in the winter for that long and ask them to put in a new unit. They said they don't do that in the winter. Found a company that would. They came out to replace my unit and said there wasn't a problem with the heat exchanger. Just the inducer. Ever since rymes got bought out they started adding random fees and scamming people out of money. Time to find a new company.

Every time I call for an issue with my service I'm on hold for over an hour each time this has been an on going issue for the last 8 years. They will not follow simple instructions that their own management writes like leave the ticket for fill up at your door instead they mail it after the 10 days so you don't get the discount if you pay in those 10 days.

It takes a lot for me to speak out publicly like this but they have no concern for their customers. Rymes Propane & Oils have provided VERY POOR service since day 1 and in my mind show poor ethics. Let's just say before this incident they 1) did an on-site quote for gas install and screwed it up so I only had pipe installed to stove and not to. planned propane wood stove in basement I asked for 2) charged me for 1 1/2 hours of labor when their tech forgot a tool and went to HD to get it.
The HD was 5 miles away but it took him 1 1/2 hours to go there and back . and I shouldn't be charged for a company forgetting a tool anyway. 3) the screwed up quote. since they own the tank I can't get.

I've had Rymes for a while now but the fact they think it's appropriate to go around on Christmas Eve and fill tanks for $620 is unacceptabl. luckily I do well enough that I can accommodate this unexpected holiday cost but I would assume there are plenty who this would be detrimental to especially this time of year. Be better.

Service and maintenance division is a complete farce and literally lied to us about services they charged us for. We've paid them for cleaning and service our furnace and it was not completed. I had a small local business in my home report that no cleaning had been done and that is the primary reason we have had no heat AND no hot water for 2 days. I would stay away from their service and cleaning and maintenance division. Trying to contract a new oil delivery service as well.

We have a commercial account with Rymes Propane and Oil. We have been doing business with them for several years. Each year they got worse and worse. Now they are nearly impossible to work with. They don't respond to issues, like damaged propane tanks for our forklifts. We are constantly running out of propane, because the truck that fills the tanks can't replace the damaged tanks. We've asked multiple times to have damaged tanks removed and replaced.
It doesn't get done. They're customer service is terrible. We are currently looking for a new propane and oil company to handle our large dollar account. I do not recommend this company at all. They are a joke.

Their slogan is "Why pay more" when in reality "Why pay less." is more accurate. Moved into a new home in late 2018 and found out our Propane supplier was Rymes. At first, the company was fair, but quickly they showed their true colors. During 2020, we were told if we were going to have an addition to our home, we would need to call Rymes for them. to check the exhaust out for our system.
We did as we were told, and before I know it, the guy shows up and is gone He was here for less than two minutes. A week later we get a $110 bill, because the guy turned the exhaust pipe for 4 seconds. Needless to say, I called and got the fee waived, though I was told "regardless for what it is for, every.

If I could score Rymes lower than 1 star I would. These people are thieves. They let me run out of propane and told me that I was on will call. I have never called them for deliveries. Then charged me to leak test the system before they would turn it back on. The gas didn't leak out, they let it run out. After that I told them I would no longer buy my propane from them so do not deliver any more product.
They ignored me, and billed me and told me I could not be on will call for propane. These people constantly change their story. Prices are outrageous and their customer service sucks. Don't do business with these people, They are crooks!

I have been a Rymes customer for about 15 years and always paid my bills on time. In the past couple of years, something has changed at Rymes. Their billing department is very messed up. The discount they offer if paid within 10 days is often unachievable because the truck delivers oil, then it takes 5 days for them to send the bill out, and by. the time you get the bill the 10 days is passed.
I pay my bills on time. I recently got a bill for 2.54 cents from a year ago. First time I have heard of it. I am of course paying it today, and sending them a letter today informing them they they are fired as an oil delivery company. The folks on the phone are usually very nice, but the billing system is broken.

Currently supply me with Propane for the last 10 years. Called to have a propane fireplace installed. Was told they were booking out 2 months for site reviews. Wow! but Covid is messing all of us up some. So okay I wait. After 2 month wait I get a call day before visit scheduled from A women named "Cho" I think can't make out name on voicemail. Leaves voicemail that they don't do inside work anymore and if that is what I need than call someone else. This crap after I wasted 2 months waiting. No way to treat a 10 year customer. Booooboooooo to you

Horrible, horrible company. They refuse to level their tanks regardless of how hazardous the tanks are. They will allow you to run out of propane multiple times during the winter even though you have auto delivery, and won't send anyone out after hours to fill your tanks. Instead, they recommend you use space heaters and then don't show up until. late afternoon the next day because you not having propane is not a priority for them. And they will not allow you to actually cancel your services even when your contract with them has ended. This company is a nightmare!

Rhymes is horrible, the worst oil company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The stories you read of people who have Automatic Delivery running low on oil and then getting told they would be charged a trip fee for a fill are all true. I found out after speaking with a Supervisor that it is their company policy. THEY calculate when you are supposed to run out of oil (and their calculations are so wrong), and if you try to tell them you are low now, you get told, rudely, that it will be an inconvenience to them and you will be charged a trip fee of $105.00 -- and you get to listen to how many other customers you will inconvenience.
In addition, Rhymes oil prices are much higher than their competition. I don't know one single reason why anyone would want to do business with this company. Buxton, my old oil company, welcomed me back with open arms and came to fill the tank that day. No added fee. Buxton has always been excellent. The only reason I Ieft was because of a propane issue, and now Buxton does propane too. Do yourself a favor and dump Rhymes before you have an issue.

I've been a Rymes customer for over 10 years. They've always been reliable and their pricing is competitive. On the rare occasion that our usage exceeded their estimates (this has happened twice that I can recall) and we ran out of oil, they've made emergency deliveries, once even well after 9:00pm. They have a number of payment plans to fit any budget, and they also offer the option to 'lock' pricing. If you're expectations in an oil supplier are reasonable, Rymes will never let you down!

Extremely rude after hours call center lady answered the phone. Could not answer my question. Refused to have someone call me that could answer the question. My only option was to wait until Monday (today is Friday) or be charged $165 for a tech to come out in about 3 hours. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Just unreal how I was just treated. After using this company for over 6 years I will be shopping around.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I take time off from work to have them come out and give me a quote on installing a stove in my 3 season room and a heater in my garage. This would be a complete install including the tank, and piping. They were late getting there. The employee said they get back to me in a couple days with a quote.
After a week I called and talked to the woman that answered the phone and she check with someone then told me they were waiting for a price from a vendor. It has now been 5 weeks since they came out and I have not received a quote or a call from them. Don't waste your time with this company. I wouldn't give them 1 star but you have to to post a review.

We have been Rymes customers for over 2 years now and are completely happy. Our deliveries come automatically, we never run out of oil. I am not fond of Rymes Propane and Oil Company. I was a former Fred Fuller customer and I enjoyed Fred Fuller Company policies regarding customer service. Anytime I called Fred Fuller for a delivery I got it either that day or the very next day. With rhymes I have to wait two, three days and sometimes up to a week. They give an I don't care attitude.
And that's really sad. I got my oil delivered today I called three days ago and we've been having nice weather. Above average is the beginning of March of 2020. so I don't understand why it was three days later that I got my oil delivered. That's disappointing. They should change their ways and think of their customers. On the upside and very positive the driver I had today Bob E. He is a very respectable and pleasant person. I give Bob five stars. But I give the company only three stars

If there was a NEGATIVE rating I would give this company a NEG rating. after being a customer for 10+ years. JULY after delivering 100 gallons of fuel to my outside the tank dented inward and they claimed it was not their fault (after stating on the phone the driver freaked out when it happened) they sent their technician Brandon out to check the and he deemed the tank acceptable and fine. its now Dec and the company scheduled a delivery and refused to fill tank. Stating "YOU CAN REPAIR OR REPLACE TANK OR FIND A NEW PROVIDER" so this is how this company treats their customers. NOW we are going on 3 weeks trying to get my money back for the fuel they REFUSED to deliver. GO ELSE WHERE. GO ELSEWHERE FAST

I am not a customer of your company, and after my experience with you over these past two days, I never will be. You delivered oil to my house, even though I called you during the delivery, because my security cameras were tripped, and told you to stop because I am not a customer. Your driver had to drive past the address marker and walk past the address plate on the front of my house that clearly stated we are on the odd side of the street, when you were supposed to deliver to my neighbor across the street.
You overfilled my brand new oil tank - thank god it didn't spill into my basement. You left a bill saying to call you, AFTER I called saying to stop. I called again this morning and was rudely told that I can either pay a discounted rate within 30 days, or you can come and remove the oil you put in, after being put on hold for 10+ minutes, after already trying to stop you from giving me oil I did not order or want. What a horrendous experience.

Rymes is a joke if you have kerosene. They had been our provider for nearly 7 years we thought they were trustworthy. They gave us an estimate for $1650 to replace our fuel tank then charged us $2000, including $500 for labor for 3 of their guys to goof around and parts galore. Less than a week later both of our kerosene heaters had fuel line error codes - both lines had sludge in them, even though Rymes swore that they filtered the fuel.
Since when is kerosene black? How does that happen after you just replaced the tank and the fuel lines? Then their guy spent 4 hours on my living floor constantly calling back to the shop because he was locking himself out of the heating system and had to wait for the codes to clear. That little incident was $250. They left us without heat on one floor because they claimed our lower level heating system was compromised when we got some water on the lower level- there was nothing wrong with the heater - they got sludge in it.
They claimed they needed to take it back to the shop after the third time they couldn't get it work. Then we got upset that they left kerosene spilled all over the new mandatory fuel filters outside and all over the ground - it looked like they were leaking - they charged us nearly $200 to have a kid come out and tell us that they just spilled fuel all over.
I called Ed Marshall who knows these systems and in one trip, he cleared the lower level unit's lines and we haven't had a problem since. You know how he cleared it? He removed the internal line - blew the sludge out of it - and put it back. He didn't tells us he needed to remove the entire unit. The man was done in less than 30 minutes - four visits later and Rymes still couldn't get it to work - all they know how to do is check the line coming in and the filter.
Their service managers are completely useless and don't return calls. We now work with Wolfeboro oil - there is a human being answering the phone, there is an office you can easily walk into to speak to someone, and most importantly THEY CALL BACK. Heed the reviews and steer clear of Rymes is you have kerosene or are looking for customer service.

This company has the worst service I've ever experienced. They moved into the Martha's Vineyard market a while ago and I succumbed to their aggressive marketing, touting themselves as the only truly local alternative. Our local provider had been purchased by Amerigas a couple of years before and we had noticed a change in service there so we fell for it, especially since they matched our discounted price. Scroll ahead a year and we've run out of propane in our 500 gallon tank (last delivery was in October, it is now March 1).
They claimed their projections must be off, probably because we had such a cold snap in late Dec/early Jan. When I asked why they didn't adjust the projections then, I was told, "it takes awhile". They then wanted to charge us $175. to deliver today rather than the scheduled delivery date of tomorrow! AND, they have a policy of placing a hold( ie. no deliveries) on accounts that are not paid within 30 days WITHOUT sending a reminder or warning.
If this isn't illegal, it should be. The employees here were as accommodating as could be when they were trying to attract our business, now that they have it, they could care less. Luckily we are not too old and/or infirm so we can take a day without heat, hot water and a cookstove (even though we work at home) but I find their policies unconscionable. If it's not too late, DO NOT engage with this company!
