Prompt. Explained how he was going to trouble shoot the problem. Explained the steps he was going to use to correct the problem. Reasonably priced. Thank you.

Don't make the same mistake as I did. I had called Aero Mechanical to come take look at my water heater over a non-holiday weekend, as the water heater had stopped working and ultimately needed to be either repaired or replaced. After the initial call, a technician arrived about 2 hours later, spent a total amount of time of less than an hour (my estimate is around 30-40 minutes max), in between which he was out for about 1.5 hours or so supposedly using all that time finding a supply house that is open for materials without luck.

For full disclosure, I ultimately did not choose Aero Mechanical as their repair cost was $1000 higher than the plumber whom I eventually had to fix the water heater. I later learned that this particular plumber that I hired was trusted enough to be asked by many of the tenants to fix their water heaters as well in the now 13-year old condominium that I reside -- so this is not just a random/unreliable person. However, Aero Mechanical's excess in pricing (over $3000 to repair a water heater) did not bother me so much since the conventional wisdom is to shop around due to significant pricing variability between different contractors.

What was shocking and particularly upsetting, however, was that the service invoice turned out to be $531 for a supposed 3 hours of labor. I spoke with the billing department at Aero Mechanical and they claimed to have done me a favor by reducing the time of labor down from four hours to three hours. Within this, they factored in the time of travel, which not all HVAC companies do.

They also stated their timestamp indicated that the technician left immediately after I had made the call, yet the fact that he arrived two hours later (in the small state of RI where travel to any part of the state takes no more than 45 minutes, max) does not add up. Despite that the time spent in traveling, making the call, and examining the water heater system (which again I have to emphasize was not fixed during the time he was there) amounted to 2 hours, if not less, I was told that the company's policy is to charge a minimum of 3 hours. That's right, even if they do not end up spending that much time, they will still charge that much time for labor, at least on the weekends.

And no, this was not at all stated upfront. For those of you that went ahead and did the calculation, the price they charged per hour was $177, which reportedly is 1.5 times their usual cost per hour. Look around online and you'll find that this is way above the usual range, even with the surcharge for an "emergency." I admit that I did not inquire about this when I had the technician come over, but never would I have thought it would be nearly this much.

In the end, Aero Mechanical did not budge in terms of their billing. I have never posted a review on Yelp, Amazon, etc, even when I have felt unfair/cheated, but as a consumer I feel obligated in writing this review to warn those who are thinking about hiring Aero Mechanical to think twice, especially on the weekends. I know there are many who are maybe as inexperienced as I am (I'm a first time homeowner), but hiring Aero Mechanical would be a costly rookie mistake that you do not want to make.
