In May, the Hinding Company installed our new furnace and A/C. We are more than happy with the job that they did. Everything was great- from the first phone call that we had with them to set up an appointment so we could get an estimate to doing all the necessary paperwork after the work was done so that we could receive all the rebates and warranties that we were told about. They have a very friendly customer service. Brian, their sales representative, is very knowledgeable about the furnace and A/C business.

The best service call experience I've ever had. Very responsive: made time to help me with a boiler that woundnt light when no one else had availability for days. Excellent communication: scheduling person was awesome and followed up with more exact times: not your typical "betweem 10am and 5pm" arrival window. The technician showed up exactly on time too. Knowledgeable, professional, ethical and went above and beyond: service was fast and effective, didn't charge me as much as he could have even based on their very reasonable rates.

I contacted Hinding for a boiler repair service scheduled on 10/22/19 at 10am. The technician arrived an hour late, smelled like alcohol, and proceeded to service my boiler. At the time of the service, the technician noted that the boiler was emitting 500ppu of carbon monoxide out of the vent, but registered 0ppu of carbon monoxide emissions from the unit.
The technician kept the unit on, although the maximum allotted emissions for a unit is supposed to be 400ppu. The technician suggested replacing the unit, and quoted the replacement and service of a new boiler at ~$9,000. I asked the technician if the unit could be cleaned, and he said that this was not an option. I was billed for the $89 service, and the technician left.
Upon returning home on 11/2/19 at 9pm, the boiler was no longer working and our house was not heated. I called Hinding to return to our house to service the boiler. They returned on 11/3/19 in the morning, stated the relay box wires were burnt, and replaced the box for $714. After the payment, the technician said that the carbon monoxide emissions were dangerous and that the unit should not be running.
He told my partner that he would write on the receipt that he turned off the gas and that we had turned it back on. This is untrue and unsafe. When I returned to the house by 10am, the boiler was once again not working. I called XCel energy to test carbon monoxide levels, which registered between 1300-1400ppu in the basement and the house. The boiler was experiencing a malfunction, causing gas to leak into the basement.
The unit was "red tagged" and gas was shut off. I called another company for a second opinion, and they stated that during the regular service on 10/22/19, the technician should have noticed the relay box wiring was burnt, suggested unit cleaning, and/or replacement. The other company quoted $7,000 maximum replacement, and suggested that the previous company may have damaged the unit which caused a malfunction.
I went to Hinding about my complaint and they were somewhat reasonable when I asked for a refund, but they did not apologize and were not willing to give me a refund on the spot. I am still waiting for a phone call about my concern and a refund. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB, as their lack of detail and unethical actions could have harmed and even killed my family (as the carbon monoxide was as dangerous levels).

Called for furnace repair yesterday (Sunday) and my call was promptly returned early this morning and a technician was out to my house soon after. The problem was diagnosed quickly, the technician had the necessary parts and within a half hour my furnace was blowing warm air again. The technician didn't waste any time getting the job done, which was probably why the bill was much lower than I anticipated it would be. I would definitely trust Hinding again for any future heating/AC issues.

Bleh. They did a great job installing my AC and furnace on two separate occasions. But when I needed the furnace serviced because all the venting they installed fell down and I couldn't turn on my heater I was told they were "too busy to come out for something like that because people would be calling for no heat". Yea. Good work if you are spending a bunch of money but I guess they aren't willing to back up their work. The woman who answered the phone. two thumbs down

My wife and I decided to buy a new furnace and we had five different bids. The salesmen that came made a big production out of measuring windows and measuring rooms and presenting spreadsheets and graphs of costs and savings. Enter Hinding, the guy comes in with no sales pitch at all but goes straight to the furnace room and ask what it is we are looking for, high efficiency, double stage or single stage.
Now the other guys tried to establish rapport, like hey, I got a truck just like yours, or hey I am a funny guy and let me relate to you with jokes, none of which I had time for, anyway they go right to the top of the line with all the bells and whistles. The guy from Hinding says, I would go with an 80% single stage, they are by far the most reliable and I have more calls on the other type. Hired him right away.
He installed the furnace and humidifier and when he was done, you couldn't even tell he was there. The furnace is a lot quieter than the old one and we have peace of mind. I would hire them again in a nano second and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new heater or air conditioner.

Had them out a couple years ago for a small fix and were happy. Called today and they said they are only seeing old customers. She couldn't find us in her "system" which I'm guessing is just a bunch of stuff written on napkins and lunch bags and filed away in a box. Thanks for nothing, Hinding! The gal who answers the phone is a real peach.

After receiving inflated estimates for repair and carbon monoxide scare tactics leading to a $11k estimate for replacement from other, larger company. I called Hinding to get an estimate for new furnace. Pat came out and diagnosed my thermostat as the problem, and then bypassed it to get my furnace working temporarily until I can get a new thermostat.
He checked for CO levels inside and out as well as the the inducer motor the larger company said was the problem. He quoted my $500 to replace the motor, they quoted me $1200. He saved me a ton of money and and didn't even try to sell my a thermostat! I have heat on a cold day and they have me as a loyal customer when is time to replace furnace. Highly recommended.

Don't use. Lazy and not thorough. I called him because I smelled gas in a home I'd purchased but had not moved into. Xcel Energy had even marked the leak for me and turned off the gas. He waved a device around the basement and upstairs to check CO2 and said no leaks. Charged $120 and took off. Gas smell persisted. Called Krinkie's. They found several sources of small leaks and a bad gas fireplace leak. I have an old home with old fittings. Krinkies was great and had a device to find them all, and repair. No more gas smell.and no more using Hinding.ever

This is the best, most honest, heating / cooling service in the twin cities. There is behavior from some companies bordering on criminal extortion going on out there and I almost fell victim to it. They saved me thousands of dollars by doing an honest assessment on what my boiler needed and I'm really grateful for it. Some simple maintenance cost $250 instead of the $4,000-$6,000 job being quoted by a competitor of theirs. My boiler is running like new.

Over the past two years, Hinding has responded to my frantic calls twice within an hour, successfully getting my 40 year old residential boiler up and working again. I finally sprang for a new one: they did a great job in a half day, even with a couple of minor glitches. All that and they came in under estimate! These people are skilled at their craft and are fun to work with. My house is now warm and cozy; I'm very happy to be within their service area in St Paul, MN!

A radiator in my house developed a gushing leak that was flowing into the basement. It was late December and I called Hinding for help. They told me they could do that sort of work, but not until Spring. Spring? The guy answering the phone had customer service skills of a hungover car mechanic. Very disappointed.

JM 1/4/2012 Being new to the neighborhood, I took advantage of a Hinding seasonal special on a furnace clean and tune a few weeks ago. I scheduled a second appointment last week because some new noise had developed in the furnace since then. Your technician identified the problem quickly as one to "keep an eye on" but not critical to replace immediately. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and didn't charge for the service call since you had just paid us a recent visit. Thanks, you've gained a new loyal customer.
