Sears Heating & Cooling was founded by Johnny and Lillian Sears in 1950. They believed that Columbus needed a reliable heating and cooling company to keep families warm during the harsh winters and cool during the hot summers. In 1989, the current ownership team was put in place and has continued the same customer focused family friendly philosophy that has allowed us to help customers stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer for over 72 years.Our longevity speaks for itself and our A+ rating with the BBB and Angie's List backs up our efforts.
We service all of Columbus, Ohio and surrounding communities with both hvac repair and installation. In general, our service area extends in a 25 mile radius from our shop. I used Sears Heating and Cooling in the past to get the downstairs furnace repaired during winter last year. This summer I noticed that the temperature upstairs is getting extremely cold but downstairs temperature stays higher than desired. So I called them again to check it out. Upon inspection the repair person discovered that the root cause behind inconsistent temperature is an incorrect wiring of the circuit board done by the previous repair person from Sears Heating and Cooling. Additionally he had to replace a capacitor in the condenser which stays outside the house.
I was charged $533.00 for a part costing $50.00 max. I have a feeling that this capacitor might have been burnt out because of the incorrect wiring. In my opinion I should not have been charged any money this time and Sears should have sent me a written apology for their incompetent repair work last year. I have no complaints about Joshua, the repair technician who performed the A/C repair work this time.
He is very professional, customer friendly and knowledgeable person. My dissatisfaction is with the organization and I think they did not live up to their reputation this time. I value the reputation of companies I use in getting my work done and the peace of mind is very important to me.

Have used Sears heating and cooling for years and have purchased multiple units from them. Always super professional, responsive and trustworthy. I have even had tenants call me to compliment them. Ramon was excellent in servicing the heating unit. He checked out everything thoroughly and after I obtained some data from Columbia Gas, helped me interpret what my recent bills meant. And we discussed some alternatives and possible reasons why my usage has gone up. We have used your company for many many years and we have always been very satisfied with the service. They were so quick to get someone out to my house and restore heat. I like that he was very straightforward about what was being fixed and why. I liked getting to discuss the cost and options for additional services. Robby answered all of my many "what if" scenario questions so we could determine the best option for my home. We arrived home at 7 pm on Sun. Jan 2, from a 2 week vacation, to find our furnace not working & 54 degrees in the house. Called Sears for help & the Wally, the tech, called us back in a few minutes. He gave me some directions to try to start the furnace, but they didn't work. He said he would get to us later that night. When he got here around 8:45 pm, he discovered that the blower motor had died.
Since it was a Sunday night, after hours, the parts store wasn't open & he talked to the owner who couldn't guarantee that the new blower motor was in stock. So we chose to avoid overtime pay, possibly no motor & wait til the morning when it would all be covered by the original call fee & warranty. Our service call fee, by the way, was reduced by $30.00 because we have the maintenance plan. Monday morning Sears called with the happy news that the blower motor was in stock & a tech would be out this morning to install it.
Which Wally & associate did quickly & we had heat again. Wally was professional and answered all our questions. We really appreciated that he made it to our house on Sun. night, even if he couldn't fix the problem. He was back Monday morning & got the blower installed quickly. He also wore a mask which we appreciated, to protect us & himself. We highly recommend Sears Heating & Cooling. We bought our system from them 8.5 years ago & they have maintained it since & serviced it twice, I believe. Thank you, John Mura

Cody called ahead of appointment time. Earlier then expected due to the window time given by Sears Heating & Cooling gave us. Arrived and went right to work. Excellent service Cody provided. Gave us a review of the service he provided and one item he found need repaired and the understanding why it was so needed. Also recommendation for future needs or up grades. Excellent service as always. Wally called to let me know he was on the way. He arrived in a timely manner, considering the road conditions. As always, Wally was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and competent. Our furnace gave out yesterday and we called Sears heating and cooling because we use them for heating and cooling maintenance and we trust them. They got us set up right away. Trey was at the house this morning at 9:30am to replace our furnace. We were really impressed with the fast service. He was very professional and answered all our questions. He was very courteous and personable. We will continue to use this company for any heating and cooling issues we might have in the future. We strongly recommend them.

I could not be happier that I called Sears Heating & Cooling when our furnace started short circuiting, and stopped keeping the house warm! From the beginning of the process with a service technician coming out to diagnose the issue the day I called, a same day estimate, and furnace installation 2 days later (per my choice, next day was available), everyone I interacted with was friendly, respectful, knowledgeable, and exactly what I was hoping to find in a local company.
This is a down to earth and straightforward company you want to work with when something goes wrong. One of the owners, Jamie, was even the person who came out to give us an estimate. As a first time home owner going through the first winter in our home, having to replace a furnace was a big blow, and overwhelming. Everyone took the time to answer my *many* questions in depth, and twice if I wasn't understanding the first time.
We have a dog, and the first day of this I was working from home, so there was a lot happening. A huge thank you to Wally for giving me time to finish up a meeting before we talked about the furnace, can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate that! Additionally, the available financing options have been a huge help in making this decision, and purchase, as easy as possible. Have always had great service from Sears Heating & Cooling no matter who comes for service. Replaced my Heat and AC system about 10 years ago Was pleased then and continue to be pleased to this day. Today was just my normal service check done by Wally T. (Also visited us earlier this year) He is such a nice and pleasant person. He is thorough and does a good job for us!
He is able to answer any questions I ask of him, his answers seem to be honest and sincere. We are in good hands with Wally. Always glad to see him return and look forward to his visit next spring!

I asked for Scott Wasem based on these reviews and was told he no longer works there
I decide to make a appointment anyways since I already had the day off, they sent Tim to me instead and he told me I needed a new furnace, after waiting for a few more hours Jamie quoted me a new furnace the price was fair but he didn't seem to care as if i was buying a used car.
I called back to the office to ask about the warranty and spoke to Wayne after talking with Wayne i went with the Bryant furnace that was recommended. Service good, install good, sales not so much.
