My previous HVAC company was an absolute disaster (too many issues to list here). After they couldn't figure out the issue (and they got paid for essentially nothing) Powell identified the problems with my HVAC and mini split and had me up and running the same day I called them. Customer service was solid too (Powell actually answered their phone). Would recommend Powell to family and friends for sure.

My thermostat went blank, so I checked the SAFE-T overflow 'float' switches. Sure enough, I had a blockage in the drainage system. I called Powell and spoke with Megan, who both advised me and arranged to have a technician come out. Joshua arrived on time, was very friendly and polite and got right down to business. He sorted out the drain issue immediately, but also ran diagnostics and did a pressure test.
Then he went ahead and did a full service maintenance on the entire system! The outside unit was given a coil cleaning and any leaves were vacuumed out from within it. He then came inside to check the fan and cleaned the Evaporator core. Discussing my HVAC system with him was a blast. He knows his stuff and has a passion for it! He went above and beyond what was expected or even required and offered some very helpful insight and maintenance tips.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see someone who is both passionate about what they do and quite willing to offer both knowledge and insight! HVAC is CRITICAL here in Florida, and this technician really made my day! Powell is a great company that I know I can depend on - and this technician is a shining example of the type of people they employ.

Outstanding service! Installed new Daikin HVAC system last year. It is incredibly quiet and efficient and has saved me $40-$50 every month. We experienced 3 very professional and knowledgeable men, Justin, Anthony, and Victor, who installed a new Daikon ac unit for us. They worked quietly and confidently at every step during the approximately 6 hours they were there. They cleaned up after themselves and answered all of our questions. We just had three new AC units installed and the whole process took only about 5 1/2 hours. Powell scheduled two complete crews who were professional and organized so the job wasn't nearly as 'painful' as I thought it would be! Justin and Tony of Powell. Heating/Ac arrived right on time and set to work immediately. They had to replace an old, non-functioning AC system, inside and out; and all through this hours-long process--in the heat and humidity, no less--they were courteous, took care to be neat and orderly, adjusted the vents in every room, and even removed some trash not related to the job.
I don't see how they could have done a better job or been more determined to make sure everything was working perfectly before they left. They provided excellent service and answered every one of our questions.

Was a prior Powell customer and even had Powell's Peak Performance plan on our home units. Called them for our unit cooling very weak and they replaced 2 parts: start kit and capacitor for over $300 and it started cooling fine again. 1 part was universal and they had to return a week later to replace it with a factory version. When the new factory part was installed, the unit returned to weak cooling again. Called them the next morning after the unit ran all night long and spoke to their technician, "Wes" who immediately stated, "it's going to be another $99 service call fee and there are 10 people ahead of you." Wow, what a great thing to tell a customer who just paid over $300 to repair an AC that stopped working when you put the part in.
He was out for 15 minutes, said the problem was a 3rd part, collected their 2nd service call fee and left. He left exposed wires hanging out of our outside unit. We paid a total of over $400, replacing 2 parts and the AC was still cooling very weak, exactly like it was before Powell came out. After speaking with someone at their office they refused to refund us, even for the 2nd service fee and just offered us a discount on a new AC.
How could we trust Powell to install a $5000+ new AC unit? If we had a problem with it after we paid wouldn't they just tell us, "it's going to be another $99 service call fee and there are 10 people ahead of you"? Wanting another opinion from a reputable service company, we called Wilson Heating & Air. They sent a technician out the same day, after hours.
He was there over 2 hours testing, checking & de-icing our AC. Then he showed us inside the air handler exactly what the problem was so we fully understood why it was not cooling. He was even able to manipulate the system so it started cooling again and we didn't have an 80 + degree house while we decided if we wanted to repair or replace the AC!
Their charge for this? $0. That's right, the tech from Wilson came after hours, showed us the AC problem part, and even got it cooling again for FREE as a courtesy 2nd opinion. Why couldn't Powell do that? They were much more concerned with collecting their SECOND service call fee, than the fact that we paid them for parts and a "repair" that solved nothing. The Powell service was the worst AC repair experience we have ever had.

This is a fantastic company and they have some wonderful professional employees that are willing to bend over backwards to help you fix your HVAC problems. I NEVER write reviews but I had to take the time today. I would give 10 stars to this company if I could. I called the office on a Friday afternoon. I had a rental property with a AC unit that had frozen over. My expectations were to order service for Monday. I spoke with a very pleasant lady in the office that assured me they could squeeze me in that day.
I got a call from the technician, Wes, within an hour that he was on his way. It ended up being a very inexpensive quick fix that cost me less than $20 over the service fee. I wasn't present because I live out of town. I know nothing about AC. He could have told me any diagnosis and any price and I probably would have paid it. So refreshing to find such a professional, courteous trustworthy company! Thank you!

We have an old a.c. unit trying to baby it along for a while. Had Powell repair it a couple of months ago. When it quit working again they found the problem - it was a mistake they made last time. They admitted it was their fault, fixed it and didn't charge us! They could have easily lied and charged us for the service call. Good to know there are honest employees / companies still around!

Don came out on a Friday afternoon because our air conditioner just couldn't seem to keep our house cool. We have an old unit and were prepared to be told we had to put in a new system. Not the case here. Although he did suggest a new system for obvious reasons, he did not pressure us at all. Instead, he suggested that he do everything he could to help us. Looked the unit over carefully (inside the house and outside), explained everything he was doing thoroughly to my husband and charged what we thought was an incredibly fair price. It's now a month or so later and our air conditioner is still cooling perfectly without overworking itself. When we do purchase a new unit, thanks to Don and his outstanding customer service, Powell will be who we call.

We had a very pleasant experience although expensive because our A/C went bonkers. The estimator came the same day. We also got 3 other estimates. Powell was lowest by about $100 so we chose them. They came two days later at 8am sharp, as promised. The installers (two of them) were friendly, professional and thorough. It has been several weeks now and we are completly satisfied with our new A/C.
We had our son stay around during installation to ensure that everything went well. He once was in the A/C business and agrees that the installers did a really nice job. Also, of the 4 companies who gave us quotes, Powell was the only one who accepted credit cards. So, we used the credit card and got mucho points.

Technician that came out was rude and condescending. "Al" was the tech sent to fix my A/C on Memorial Day when it was 85 outside and 79 inside. Perhaps he should reconsider his profession if he doesn't want to work on holidays, however he was being paid quite well for this service call and should remember that when talking to a customer. Upon arriving he told me that it was the same problem as last year, I informed him that I moved in 3 months ago. "Your system is too old to cool your house to 71 degrees" "Like I told you last year, you need a new system" I reminded him again that I moved in 3 months ago.
While standing in a puddle of water - "So where is all this water at?" He reset the thermostat to 75 without offering any explanation said the unit was fine and left. Unfortunately, this is the company my property manager uses so I have no say in the matter.

My old hvac unit died and I called them. Worked great for about a week now cant even cool the house below 80 degrees. Has warranty so I called them. The lady answering the phone was the most rude non customer friendly person I have ever met. Basically I guess it bothers them to service something they just installed. Trust me I don't want to have to call them would not have to if it was done right when installed.
They need to realize if you treat the customer well they tell 10 friends good news you treat them bad they tell 200. This will wind up costing them several of their business accounts with friends of mine that will use another one of the many ac companies. The technician that serviced my old AC was a great guy. I thought they were pretty good to work with boy feeling wrong about that.

After a callback they gouged me on a t/stst, over 3 times the cost of the item. Though I paid half down and the rest in 30 days I was gouged on the price of the t/stat. I was told there would be no trip charge but only the cost of whatever item he installed- they made ALL their money back by overcharging me 3/4 times what they paid for the item. 220$ for a 50$ t/stat and they said no labor on the call- bad policy
