In 1953 Jerry Bintz founded Bintz Heating. During the early years he employed 3 faithful men. The business was known for helping families with their needs. Jerry threw himself into his business to make it successful. He worked 6 days a week and went to the shop on Sunday to clean up and start a new week. During the week he came home for a family dinner and then went out to make calls. Jerry handed the business over to his son Steve who had worked with him since high school. Steve and his wife Kathy worked to take over the business and keep it running.

This is very simple. I had an AC/Furnace install, it went less than ok, the service afterwards has been subpar on repeated instances. I'm a reasonable person, I am willing to pay above average prices but expect competent people who are reasonable and are there when you need them. In this case, I paid an average price and got below average.well, everything. Clearly, when you buy a good and/or service THEY need YOU (I could've called many other providers of said service).
However after the sale, for those who are not good business owners, that need is not always so present. That was the case here. Yes, there were red flags when we sat down at the kitchen table to talk over things that I ignored. That said, although there were glitches with how the unit has operated over the last few years since install I (for whatever reason) still believe they are competent people.
This is likely somewhat of a surprising comment given how the product has operated but it's just how I feel. Therefore, for competence, I will give them 3 stars - I just think they lack a desire for detail and to do their best work. In terms of after the sale, this is where it gets a bit messy, there is no other option but to give them 1 star.
I could go into great detail and give multiple examples of which I believe would be alarming but I just feel it would come off as slanderous (and I don't consider myself that type of person). I will say this, I would not under any circumstance refer them to anyone I know (or even to those I don't, which is the reading audience). In the end, you'll have to go with your gut, I should've followed mine.

Was recommended Bintz heating from some friends. I have now used them twice on two different issues with my duplex heating. Andrew is great to work with and willing to explain things. Very impressed how quickly he was able to come fix my issues with my furnaces. Would highly recommend anyone using them. Service: Repair HVAC

I have had Steve and Andrew out here for repairs on my ancient a/c and heater. They were fast and the charges reasonable. Before I called them, I had a larger HVAC and more well known firm from Waukesha come out. They were more expensive and the service was not as good. Bintz seems to be a small business who appreciates its clients. I hope they don't change!

Steve & his son Andrew are so courteous, quick, and honest! Steve makes it a priority to provide his cell phone for any weekend emergencies and is amazing at giving a fair assessment and opinion of how to best proceed forward. We could either sink a couple hundred dollars into a motor, take a chance of that burning out and needing to also replace a compressor, or instead of wasting money gave us time to think about replacing the unit.
The company stocked up on units ahead of this season and has them ready to install, not like a few companies that said it would take weeks to arrive. My mom used someone else to replace just a compressor and was charged 3x what Steve quoted us. Steve was pleasant, did a great job of explaining what wasn't working, and cleaned up after himself. 10/10 would hire again!

Bintz Heating helped us deal with a vent issue we had in our basement and did fantastic work. They were detail oriented, knowledgeable, and very patient with explaining things. We contracted with Steve Bintz to install air conditioning in our 1913 Shorewood home which has steam heat (no ducts). Steve took great care in assessing our needs. Our home required a high velocity system. We needed two separate systems for first and second floors. (Other companies had also recommended this.) Steve Bintz gave down- to- earth explanations and choices for placement of the small duct heads in the rooms.
The cool air traveled through plastic tubing behind walls, under floors, within attics and above ceilings depending upon our home construction. He and his son took great care to isolate and contain dust when drilling holes due to our respiratory health needs. Cleanup was fantastic. Son Andrew wet cleaned many surfaces and floors on a daily basis. We were so happy that Steve educated us on the need for ultraviolet lights, which is an extra cost but so important for a family with allergies.
The father son team were very respectful and worked quietly. The system has been tested and is in fine condition. The cost was less than other businesses wanted. We will use them for annual maintenance of the ac as well as our boiler. Great third generation business!

I called to schedule an appointment. i was told they were busy at the moment but would call me back shortly. 2 weeks later, i called them back. I scheduled an appointment with them, they were to arrive at 3pm on Monday. no one showed up, no one called. I have used Bintz in the past and have been pleased with their service. I am unsure what has happened, but i will no longer waste my time dealing with them since they cannot bother to call or show up for their appointments.

Terrible service. Found them through Angie's list. I have 91 years old mother with denmentia at home and when it is 94F and 90% humidity she is not easy to manage. Scheduled an oppointment for repair and the time was set. Took of work to be present at scheduled time. Nobody showed up. Took back to work and when I called I've got an answer that "something else showed up" and the much needed service is not going to be provided. AC stoped working on Friday, so have been offered to provide service on Saturday with clear intentions to get a "weekend" rate. I won't offer this service even to an enemy. O, one moment I will offer them to an enemy because they will be never served!

I HIGHLY recommend Bintz Heating. It is a local, family-owned business with fantastic customer service. On a very cold day, Steve took a last minute call and fit us into his packed schedule. He was responsive, communicative, and went the extra mile to ensure our home had heating. He was very transparent with the issue and fair in the costs of the repair.

We could not be happier with our new piston-driven HVAC system that was installed June 20th, 2016. Steve and his son installed this system in just a few hours, answered all our questions and showed us how to program our new thermostat.

(From January 2016)Our old furnace was losing steam and not heating the house. I called Bintz on a Monday morning. Steve and Andrew came out at 8 AM the next morning and in less than three hours, put in a new furnace. Their work was quick, clean and first rate at a very reasonable price. By noon on Tuesday, our house was warm again. Bintz saved the day again! (From May 2015)Steve and Andrew did some duct work to get more heat and air conditioning into our upstairs bedroom.
They responded promptly, finished the job efficiently (in less than two hours) and did a great job for a tremendous price. There is no better home improvement value in the Midwest than Bintz Heating & Sheet Metal.
