I have been a Daikin fan for over a decade - going back to the first products I bought while living in Europe. I recently returned to the US and purchased an old house in need of a completely new A/C-heating system and naturally elected to go with Daikin. I contracted with an independent business I found on the Daikin USA website's list of "thoroughly vetted 'Daikin Comfort Professionals'".

I was sorely let down by the independent contractor from the list. Not only did they not display any evidence of being particularly knowledgeable of the products they sold me, they also displayed this ineptitude with a shocking degree of unprofessionalism throughout their ownership and management. I called Daikin's main customer support line to complain about these "professionals" on their list and was told that Daikin actually does not vet these companies at all - they are a list supplied to Daikin by independent A/C distributors. Evidently, being "vetted" means nothing more than than the company in question having bought Daikin product at wholesale.

The Daikin customer service agent dismissed any suggestion that Daikin had a degree of responsibility for the companies it "vets" on their website and for the anguish and inconvenience caused by putting faith in their list. So beware - don't worry about the "Pro Dealers" or "Comfort Professionals" on the Daikin site - they are nothing more than a small list of candidates for the consumer to consider.

They may, or may not (probably the latter seeing how it's only recently that Daikin has come into the US residential market) have any real or exceptional training concerning Daikin equipment. I would advise people buying new A/C products of two things: One, definitely buy Daikin if possible, you won't regret it. Two, find a good local contractor by word of mouth - any quality technician can install this equipment (The crew that installed mine wasn't too bright but its all running well so far). Lastly: Shame on the Daikin marketing executives for the absolute bogus "Pro Dealer" program and promise of a list of 'experts' on their equipment - it's been explained to me by customer services that it's utter rubbish. It's also a very poor way to try to build market share in the US. I expected better from this company.
