Be skeptical of promised manufacturer rebates It is unfortunate that I have to write this because the consultation and installation of the ductless mini splits for our basement went just fine. The issue is that we were told we woukd be getting a significant sum reimbursed to us in manufacturer rebates and were told at point of installation that it would be handled by installer.

The rebates never materialized and we asked to know what happened and the company said they would contact manufacturer for follow up and claimed that we should have already received them, but we had not. They did say they wpuld contact the manufacturer for a follow through. That was the last contact we could get. Since then we have been ghosted, calls are not picked up nor are messages returned. We have been trying to get an answer on that follow through and we can get no updates back. Very unfortunate that the matter is being ignored.

They are our go-to place for all our heating and air conditioning needs. Two years ago we had an emergency situation and they provided service above and beyond what we ever could have asked for. Their technicians are trained with up to date knowledge and give you confidence in their assessment of the situation at hand.

No one likes to have to call for service or replacement of big ticket items like furnaces, air conditioning units or hot water heaters. If one should ever need to make that call, I highly recommend Elgin Sheet Metal. They have earned our trust and loyalty.

My 3 year old Carrier thermostat failed so I called ESM since they did the original install and it was under warranty (5 years parts, 1 year labor). Serviceman advised there was no Carrier replacement thermostat w controller like mine available, they could provide a replacement and wire it conventionally bypassing the controller. The tech showed me a crappy blister pack Honeywell that looked like a Fisher price toy and probably cost them $20.

I refused and advised I wanted the same series thermostat or at least equal value. I showed the tech what the Carrier replacements sold for online and he made calls to his shop, then to the distributor, then to carrier. He finally offered me a decent "Nest" brand thermostat and then took 15 minutes to install it and about 15 minutes trying to get it to connect with my WiFi.

I finally told him to forget the WiFi and I would set it up myself (no problem when I did it). He left and when the bill arrived, I was charged $320 for the install of the thermostat! I called and complained and offered that $120 was more than generous for the install. The Service Manager said fine, send the payment and we will put a note not to respond to future calls on your account. I told him "Don't lose any sleep waiting for my call." Complete jerks.

Got the best price of 6 quotes - service man showed up on time, installed both the AC and Furnace in a very workmanlike manner and was finished about 2 PM - about 7 hours, or a little less. Very pleased with the finished products. Services: Install AC, Installation

They came out the same day and installed a new thermostat. They completed the job in less than 90 minutes and the price was very competitive. Will definitely use again!

We needed to replace our furnace and AC unit. We looked at four different companies and I was impressed with each one. But Elgin Sheet Metal and Pat stood out to me. I think it was his matter-of-fact, friendly nature and the reasonable price that won me over. They weren't the cheapest but were way less than the most expensive. Had to finally replace our A/C unit. The staff at Elgin Sheet Metal was excellent. They were helpful, friendly and informative. The did the work quickly and left no mess. I have had nothing but good experiences in the years I have dealt with them.

Had them come out to look at my ac unit because stopped working prior to a gathering. Came out late to look at and then said didn't have time to repair. Why would you come out knowing I had guests. Called another agency that did the repair. On top of them not fixing the issue I called them out to do, they sent a bill fir them coming out and not doing anything. I recommend going somewhere else if you looking for professionalism, quality, and someone that puts customers over there bottom line finances.

Pat was very thorough explaining to me so I could understand my furnace issues and communicating to me that it was not necessary to have the gas turned off to the furnace as recommended by a previous contractor. The tech who came and fulfilled the furnace work was professional and kind enough to explain in further detail any questions I had. I finally feel like I have someone to rely on for honest good work.

Michael Novelli I recently called Elgin Sheet Metal to have my refridgerant recharged and old AC unit checked. The unit still works fine, but it had been a few years since I had it checked. I was surprised at how impersonal the man taking the phone calls is. Little-to-know professionalism or helpfulness. The person who did the recharge of my refrigerant was prompt and friendly.

I was surprised when I received a bill for $370 for a visit that took less than 45 minutes - a simple refrigerant recharge and tweaking a wire he said was loose. Wow. They communicated that the hourly rate is $135. I am asking for them to work with me on the bill, but again today dealt with a man on the phone (he did not offer his name) who was rude and unhelpful.

He offered no path or compromise other than he would look at the service record to see what time he was here. I did let him know I was home during the entire time of service and paid attention to how little time it took. I was kind to him on the phone (I hate conflict) and told him I hope to get a call back. I hesitated to even call and just pay it, but it is a lot more than I should have to pay for a simple recharge. I am so disappointed.

Needed a new a/c and furnace. pat was prompt, efficient and very nice. the quote was reasonable, and aaron installed it immediately, during some terrible weather. he really knew what he was doing, and was also as nice as could be. also very tidy. i highly recommend elgin sheeet metal!

Elgin Sheet Metal was a pleasure to deal with-professional, knowledgeable and prompt. We contacted them concerning air conditioner and furnace issues. They came out, tested both and presented our options. We decided to replace both after 20 years with a high efficiency unit. Our A/C unit went out last night. Yesterday was the first 90+ degree day of the year. Today was forecasted to be just as bad with humidity over 50%. And. It's the weekend. Panic time, right?! We called this morning and talked to Tom. Tom was here within less than an hour. On a Saturday! He replaced our capacitor with a few minutes. Best of all, at least to us, it was with an American made one. Tom was very warm, friendly, and personable. It was like having an old friend stop by to help out. I would totally suggest calling Tom to help! He was great! Thanks Tom!

Elgin Sheet Metal has the most reputable service techs and best installers. We called for service as second opinion for a cracked heat exchanger on our older Carrier furnace. The OTHER service provider wanted over $2,500 to repair. Also, the OTHER service provider had shut off our system in zero degree weather and had dismantled the system so it could not run.

The ESM Tech found the heat exchanger was not cracked, but rather the unit had a clogged heat exchanger and was under warranty for a repair. Also the old unit had a 'trade-in' rebate that the other provider never mentioned. We decided to take the "trade-in" rebate and purchase a new unit for about $3,500. With the Nicor & Carrier rebates applied, the system was installed the next day for UNDER $2,500 (the amount the other provider wanted to charge for the "Repair") Our new installation was done in a most professional manner and delivered so much better heat as the unit was correctly sized.

The installation is much cleaner and looks so much better than our older unit. We are much more comfortable than before and it is SO quiet compared to our old furnace. We can not ever hear the new unit run on Low Heat. ESM is the best!
