In 1973, I had the opportunity to buy Midway Heating Company; a business established in 1959 and built on integrity and quality. Over 47 years later, I am proud to say I still operate this company with the same values that has made Midway Heating Company so successful. Can't say enough good things about this company! Have used them numerous times in the past, and most recently to replace my existing gas furnace. I appreciated very much that Nate didn't try to upsell me into a more expensive and efficient furnace when it would not have been the right fit for my tiny house! Also, when the new furnace was unpleasantly whining and unusually loud about it, Alex came over to check it out and suggested swapping out a part.
He was unsure if it would work but was willing to try as it was the only available solution. Well, it worked and I am now the happy owner of a well functioning (and quiet!) furnace! They are responsive, prompt, courteous, caring and fair - can't ask more than that!

My whole experience was awesome start to finish. I called the company expecting a long wait to get my AC fixed, but Teresa was so friendly and worked me into their busy schedule so I could have my AC fixed that same week! The technician Antonio was prompt, kind, informative, and incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend this thorough, friendly, knowledgeable company!

My AC stopped working during one of the hottest weekends we've had. Of course it's a Sunday and everyone in the city was having the same problem. I called probably a dozen different companies (their 24/7 emergency service lines) and no one returned my call. except for Nate at MHC. He was great with communication, timely, quick and super kind! Not to mention he was able to fit me in with an already completely packed schedule of his own. Will definitely be using MHC in the future because of this great experience.

Just had Midway add a ductless minisplit system to the second floor of our 100 yr old house and can't recommend them enough! Alex came out quickly for a quote and explained the options of systems and how they would need to work through some of the houses quirks. No pressure at all. Joseph and Scott did a great job quickly installing everything and making it look and work perfectly. It was great working with Midway and will definitely be working with them again!

If I could give the Midway technician, Nate, 10 stars, I would. I had another, reputable, heating company out to fix my heater. After TWO HOURS of taking the entire thing apart and testing and jumping every possible connection, they told me I needed a blower ($1260) and a circuit board ($540). I told them the blower was working fine before they got there and I was sure I didn't need one.
I called Midway for a second opinion. In less than 20 minutes Nate said, 'I found your problem. Part of your circuit board is fried.' I braced myself and said, 'How much?'. He said, 'The part is $230'. I asked if he had it on his truck and he said 'No, but there's a parts house close by. I'll get it and come back.' In an hour and a half from his arrival, which included him going to get the part, my home had heat!
Total bill with the service call, $389. One year guarantee on the part, 30 days on the labor and I couldn't be more satisfied. Thank you Midway and Nate! THAT'S the way it SHOULD be done!

Thanks guys.another great job and more than timely. First time I called midway was 2 years ago when we had a commercial building with an a/c problem in the middle of a heat wave (what else, right?).they were completely jammed up but somehow got to it asap.saved us.they have just finished another complete install of an entire hvac system.clean and tidy and timely. I can't review their actual service because they couldn't seem to take and keep an appointment. I scheduled an appointment twice and had someone waiting at home both times. When they no showed/no called, I called them and asked when their service person was coming out. After confusing my house and service request for someone else, I restated who I was.
They doubled checked and I was not even on their calendar, for a second time. Needless to say, I wasn't going to give them a third chance to no show. If I ran my business the same way, I wouldn't have one.

This review is way overdue - at the end of 2016, Midway took out our ancient, ginormous, oil burning furnace (circa 1940), replaced it with a sleek new efficient gas furnace, and also installed central air for us. The guy from the city who came to inspect the work/sign off on the permit said he was impressed and he looks at this kind of work all the time.
They did a great job, and came in on budget/estimate and in the time they said they would. Now, a year and half later, everything looks and works great. It wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for. I definitely recommend them.

I want to personally thank Brad at Midway for doing the impossible - moving up our A/C installation date by three weeks so that we could have air conditioning for our move-in date which also happened to be one of the hottest days of the summer in Portland! We were dreading unpacking in 100 F temps but we'd accepted our circumstances when Brad unexpectedly called and said he was going to make it happen within days of our order.
When we arrived at the house on the day or our move-in, it was done. Honestly, it felt like a miracle. It works like a dream and the unpacking process felt effortless thanks to having a cool home on one of the hottest days of the year. THANK YOU BRAD and Midway Heating - such service, such care and such awesomeness!

24 degrees in Portland and my 1953 oil furnace stops pushing the hot air out. Suspecting the blower motor, I placed a call to these guys and they came out as soon as they were able during this peak time period. Rich listened to what I experienced, looked at the motor, and decided it did need to be replaced (last replacement 1983!). Ordered the part, and later that day it was installed. Turns out the new motor somehow stripped out the screw holding the motor in place and it didn't work so well that evening.
I called them back, and Rich came out early in the morning before starting his other jobs and the furnace is as good as new. What impressed me is the professionalism of Rich and his listening abilities, the calm demeanor of the lady answering the phone and their ability to schedule me pretty quickly considering the crazy snow storm we had. I had previously had the furnace serviced by an oil company that I was on auto delivery with.
Their office personnel were always rude, could never seem to schedule me as it was always a peak time (even though I'd been a customer for years), and the unprofessionalism of their repair guys was not appreciated. Midway was great on all aspects of what I needed. They came in, diagnosed the issue, and fixed it. Boom. Exactly what I wanted. Oh, and the best part was the price- super reasonable, and I was expecting to pay so much more. At this rate, there is no reason to buy a new furnace, as I will just call these guys out to keep my current furnace happy.

Due to an unknown filter placement SNAFU, the A/C coils got so gunked up that the compressor got overloaded and blew out the start capacitor. Called MHC at 9:00am for an appt. Was told 1:00pm SAME DAY (Wow!). Rich and Ryan showed up right on time, assessed the trouble and promptly set to work making the needed repairs and performing the required maintenance.
The price of the service call came in at the extreme low end of the expected cost. Professional service at an affordable price. I highly recommend this HVAC company and am grateful to know they are a reputable member of the East Portland community.

I was given a quote of $3,300 from another company, who also charged me an additional $85 for the quote. Thank goodness I saw the sticker on my furnace for Midway Heating Company - who'd serviced it years before, because they gave me a free quote and charged me $500 less. They offered to fix the furnace for $600 but it was 30+ years old and high time it was replaced.
Better now, when the air-conditioning quit working, than in the winter when the heat would go kaput. Because of the unusually hot weather, they were swamped and could not come out for 3 weeks, but when they did, they did a fantastic job. In fact, they got the job done 3 days early and made arrangements to do so with my tenant - unbeknownst to me. Before making a large purchase like this, always get quotes. The $585 less that Midway is a lot of money to save!

Awful terrible service! I should say no service. a few years ago they installed my new furnace. Now I am having trouble with the air ducts. I needed a couple of them replaced as they had holes in from rust. I called them as a repeat customer. They said the would be out the next day. The next day, no show & no call. So I called them & they said they did not want to do that type of work.
I asked why they had not showed up or called to say they would not show up. They just said it was not the type of work they wanted to do. Hard to understand why they would not want to work on the air ducts. I then spoke to the owner who was not helpful & rude so I told him I would find someone else who wanted to give good customer service.
