Services
How we got started. Gary and Jim Whitlock started Able Air after moving to Florida in 1980. The two worked together until 1985, when Gary took over the business himself. Able Air has become Brevard County's largest residential and commercial service provider along with being Brevard's installation specialist.
Most people depend on their car to get to work and back home. If you drive your car one hour a day and travel 30 miles you would total 10,950 miles and 365 hours? During that time you would have had 3 to 4 oil changes, 1 air filter change, and your tires rotated twice. The typical air conditioning system operates 80% of the time in one year.
Consumers must take great care in educating themselves on the contractor and his sales representative, because bottom line, you are NOT buying a heating and cooling system, you are buying a contractor. Consumers MUST purchase from the contractor they trust the most. Installing heating and cooling systems properly requires significant expertise.
Able Air Inc.'s new construction department has an in-house design and engineering service for all residential custom home builders, residential tract builders, commercial builders and homeowners. This service provides a complete package for the customer or builder to obtain their HVAC permit. This package may be obtained by any new homeowner or builder for a nominal fee.

While I did not use this company because a friend helped me get pronto help, this a/c company was very cordial when assisting me for an appointment. They gave me their 1st availability & told me about the costs prior to the service person coming out. I always appreciate that as I hate surprises. I can't comment on their work but I can say they were kind, understanding & professional in all my dealings with them. I think that's worth 5 stars these days!

We have had a good experience with Able Air. Positives: Prompt service when your system is down. Knowledgeable techs. Loaner unit while waiting for new system to arrive. Negatives:They are not inexpensive and they want to be paid at the time of service even if you are a long standing customer who owns their home and they could easily place a lean on the property if you failed to pay. Weekend service is at an additional fee.

We had a great experience with Able Air! Our AC died 2 weeks ago. It was an old system and we had a different company servicing it for years to keep it on its last leg before it died. We decided to get multiple quotes for a replacement and a friend recommended Able Air. The salesman, Eric, was the first one to come out. He was prompt, professional, on time, and great at explaining different options.
We had a separate area that didn't have AC before and he built us multiple quotes to help us decide if this was the right time to work on that area too. We decided to replace just the main unit for now. They were able to get us scheduled within the same week. The crew who came out today - Miles, Fred, and Neville - were all equally professional and great.
They were on time and had everything done in one day. They explained how everything worked, answered my husband's detailed questions and left everything spotless after. The house has already cooled from 83 to 72 in just about an hour. We are in heaven to have AC back and very grateful to Able Air. :

I didn't call or use their services my neighbor did but they parked in my grass while servicing the neighbors ac. When I asked them to remove their truck from my grass the gentleman had a whole list of excuses for parking on my property instead of his customer's property. It's a private road with little traffic so parking with all four tires on the asphalt is not an issue. Extremely rude and did not offer an apology until I mentioned he needed to apologies. Can't believe a company does not advice their employees to better! Rude!

After my latest AC nightmare, I will always call Able Air first for my AC needs. My system stopped blowing cold air so I called my usual guy. He informed me that I needed a new compressor and wire harness. Unfortunately, he could not get the harness due to supply chain issues. After way too long, I called a 2nd company that also said that I needed a new compressor and harness and quoted me a cost of $2,400 (compressor was still under warranty).
I then called Able Air. The tech (Josh) came out the next day, installed a generic wire harness and did not replace the compressor. $135 later, I have cool air blowing and am wishing I had called Able Air a long time ago. Extremely friendly, professional, and punctual.

Our Lennox A/C system died a slow death last month, we had six different well known local companies come out to pitch their products. It seemed like most were trying to sell what they had in stock instead of what we wanted to purchase. Our experience with Able Air started with the nice ladies in the office assisting us with an appointment time that worked with our schedule. Shawn Begley from the sales team met us to discuss three different options that would work within our budget and needs for the house.
Never was there any pressure, only information to show us the different benefits of each of those three choices. We decided to purchase our new Carrier Unit with Able Air, and for no additional cost they supplied us with a full size condenser unit for over a week while our unit was being picked up in another part of the state so we could stay in our house.
The workmanship of the installers is really what impresses us. This installation of the replacement heat pump looks better than the original system that came with the house. We trust and recommend Able Air to anyone that needs service or replacement of their A/C system.

First we solicited comments from the local Neighborhood Watch as to recommendations since we decided to replace our entire HVAC system (that was working but old). Two types of systems stood out. We had replaced a system at our rental property and was thoroughly satisfied with Able Air 3 years earlier. For our home we wanted detailed information about the system and operation.
The salesman came per appointment and explained EVERY aspect of the system, examined the old system and gave us choices for unit replacement. He gave us a 101 course on AC replacement. The next salesman came and decided we were the "village idiots" - only question - HOW MUCH WERE WE WILLING TO PAY?" They even sent a proposed contract choice in the same insulting manner. Needless to say, I trusted my ABLE AIR salesman who gave us details along the way, made us educated about everything and the parts they were installing and besides that were just basically the most courteous and respectful employees.
I give them an A+. My new HVAC system installed in one day, works beautifully and the thermostat (WOW!). Would highly recommend Able Air based on my experiences from beginning to end. One happy camper here

My family owns several properties and have used Able air for 7 years! I had an issue with my ac and the tech came out and took a quick look and wrote up a 560$ cleaning. I noticed after he left my outside unit then kept turning on then off repeatedly. I call back and another tech comes. Nice guy, looks like he did a few things and basically agreed that I did need this cleaning.
He fixed the work of other tech. Not one time did they take the cover off ac inside unit and look at it! Next morning I put an add out on Nextdoor app. Within mins at 6am I got a call from a neighbor who does ac as a one man business. He came promptly this morning and the first thing he did? He took off the cover which shown a giant block of ice and the coils.
I called Able Air to get a refund. The manager was not only rude, but had no interest in speaking to me, he spoke over me when I tried explaining my frustrations. I was polite, and I called him out on what had happened but in a professional manner. I didn't get anywhere! I told him the homeowner will contact him. After my family spoke to said manager, he got a refund but was told they will never come back to my home again.
Which I find also petty and unprofessional. So, I paid with my card yet he won't speak to me nor refund me directly. I'm just grateful I found a fair person to fix my issue for less than half of what they wanted me to pay and I'm thanking God that even though they are not refunding me directly, they are refunding my family which will give me the money.
It seems like being a woman, I was discriminated and treated like I was "uneducated". I'm not sure that people realize that times are tough right now. I am a single mom and out of work due to COVID-19, 100$ is a weeks worth of groceries to me. Shame on you Able Air! You lost a loyal customer for good!

Safety and efficiency. Went through many scam companies and scam American Home-shield and Able Air got it done right the first time. Cancelled worthless AHS, (our air was out almost six weeks arguing with them and having them send over lying contractors) worth the money and the contract to take care of our air. Can't recommend them enough. Their empathy and getting the job done for us the fastest and most efficiently way possible.
We were told by QUICK AC, by the owner that she has a new unit and it still doesn't make her home cooler than it is outside. Able air had already told us what was wrong, and Quick Air came and admitted it was broken and then lied to American Home Shield. Don't waste your time and money. Get ABLE AIR first. Get it done right.

We recently moved to the area and needed our HVAC replaced. We contacted Able Air and requested a quote. They said Tricia would call us back to set up an appointment the next morning. No call back. I called the next afternoon and asked to speak with Tricia so I could get a quote they said they would have Tricia return my call. No call back. I called the next day and asked to speak to Tricia.
They said she was away from her desk and I could leave her a voicemail. Left a voicemail telling her I would like to set up an appointment to get an estimate to replace my HVAC. No call back. Three strikes you're out. I went with Ranger Air who was quick, efficient and did a great job!

Quick response time and easy to get credit for a major AC replacement. Spoke with them on a Tuesday and the following Tuesday the AC and air handler were fully replaced. They explained everything and showed me how everything worked and what the warranty and maintenance were. All during this crazy time. Technicians showed up with PPE and were very conscious of what they did. They cleaned my garage floor better than it was when all their work was done. Great Patriotic Company!

I periodically stay at a friend's second home in Melbourne. Got there one April and the thermostat was showing fault messages and there was no cool air. Able Air's sticker was on the unit so I called. The service rep looked it over and found the problem was a badly corroded outdoor thermos bottle looking affair (accumulator maybe?), and it had water in it.
His concern was that if water got into the compressor, well not good. The house was unoccupied since my visit 5 months earlier in December, and I left the system on vacation hold at 84 degrees. He said that was a positive sign and then confirmed there was no damage. A part was ordered but would not arrive until after my visit. I coordinated with the absentee owner who in turn coordinated with the neighbor to be available to give them access to install the part.
So in a nutshell, Able Air worked with a visitor in the absence of the owner, honored the parts and labor agreement, then worked with the neighbor to get the job done. Owner: happy. Visitor: Hero.

I rent a home in Palm Bay and my tenant called stating the AC was blowing warm air. She called Able Air and they requested authorization from me as owner to go to the property. After tech examined the issue he stated he needed to thaw the unit. After thawing the unit my tenant stated the air condition started running cool right away. He then calls me and tells me that I probably need a new air conditioner due to the age of the unit but, if he can fix it, it may cost around $900.00 dollars.
He said it might need 8 to 9 Lbs. of coolant. After all is set and done I requested a discount and he charged me $815.00. My tenant stated that he never told her the cost and did not see him putting the coolant neither did he approached her to say "look I want you to see what I am doing" She asked for a bill and he did not give her one and till this day I have not received a bill from Able Air.
My tenant feels that he did not advise her or showed her in good faith of what he was doing considering what he had to do and how expensive it was. We have used them in the past but I am very upset at the company. I will not use them again and plan to dispute the bill since I believe that I was over charged.

Just had Able Air perform an annual service/inspection. The Tech was very good, nice and knowledgeable. Wish I could say that for the telephone salesperson, they were nice but really miss lead me on the cost. Said it was $95.00, that was OK "considering they would replace the air filter". Well after it was done I checked, and same used filter, I called and was told they do not include the filter with the service.
I would not have used them had I been told the truth. $95.00 was not worth "inspecting" the unit. I will not use them again, can't trust what the sales people tell you. Some say the price for the maintenance of $95.00 is not bad? Kinda like the security monitor, doesn't stop the crime.just let you know there is crime.

My second Viera Builders home with an Able Air system. The one time I had to call them they came out the next day and repaired our unit under warranty. The tech seemed knowledgeable. My only issue is they install these systems perfectly, but don't leave any information on how to use the thermostat, how to change it to heat or aux heat (or what the difference is), how to properly maintain your system, or how to change your filters. Had to google a manual (which I found on a local competitor's website).
These are complicated, expensive systems, and someone at Able should be ABLE to create some sort of user's guide to leave with homeowners. Instead, an annual service plan is offered for sale, and is highly recommended. That made me a little nervous. Typically, Florida HVAC systems last about 7 years, but we're hoping to do the right thing and get 10. Let's close the deal, Able. Call me if you need help with this.

They installed a new A/C unit in my home two years ago. The service men were extremely nice and knowledgeable. Last year Karen called to set up an appointment for the complimentary yearly maintenance and one of the same nice and knowledgeable employees came out and serviced the A/C unit. I just received another call for this year 's maintenance from Karen.
The price for the maintenance is $95.00, which is not a bad value, especially with the $75.00 coupon from YP.com. I have not had any problems with this unit at all and it's nice that the same employees are still working there - happy employees = successful company.

These guys did my new home a/c and did a horrible job. I have had to use them 6 times and it was painful each time. They are toooooo big to control quality and all their lousy workers! Every other year since new my RECOMMENDED system has failed. My underground copper line failed after only 2 years after new. They charged me $1200 to run me a new copper line overhead (I should have had another company do it). BE SURE AND HAVE EVERYTHING RAN OVERHEAD!
Also be sure air handler coil is all aluminum and not mixed with galvanized. These guys are very expensive, extremely slow, and will not help AT ALL if any warranty work is required. They tried to get $6000 out of my father for what another company found was a $100 fix. They will lie and upcharge you left and right. This is one of the worst businesses in Brevard!

Never had been so bothered by something that where I would actually take the time to write a review. Our AC went out in our house which is 3 years old, and Able air stated they would be out the next day and that it would be $95 service call. They came out the next day and to let my 8 1/2 month pregnant wife know that the AC isn't working. (Huh imagine that it's not working, maybe that's why we called you to come out.) Able air stated that they have the part which is under warranty, however they need to go get it and when they return it would be another $95 to install.
My point is that a part which is covered under warranty that failed, requires you to charge customers a $95 fee right off the bat just to say your AC doesn't work then leave and come back within couple of hours and charge $95 to install- to me it should have ONLY cost $95 the labor to install a warranty part. Again why do we have to pay for service on a part that you stand by/ warranty that failed! Not impressed with the service we received and would not recommend Able air

I'm a new homeowner and from day one we had issues with the air. After we put down our beautiful new wood floor we noticed that our air unit was leaking underneath it! So after a little freak out I called Able Air and they came the next day. Great service right off the bat. They were upfront about the price and explained everything to me. I definitely recommend them!
